Funny note about Poison Mist: It's completely stealthy. If you can get behind mobs in PvE, you can just crouch and slowly kill them with the power of farts
You can chain cast dragonclaw by alternating hands while casting with two seals, makes for some good mixups if people are used to the timing of the normal second cast
A tip for dragon claw. You can cast it indefinitely by alternating left and right hand seals and it prevents the extremely long recovery time from the second strike.
- For bloodflame blade, it's usually better when put on a weapon with innate bleed, since the blood loss build up it applies is a flat 40 that can't be changed/increased. - Greyoll's roar has an additional utility where it actually debuffs enemies hit by it, it reduces the damage they deal and increases the damage they take(basically a reversed golden vow). - For Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike, Death Lightning, Lightning Strike, and Frozen Lightning Spear, they shouldn't really be used as aoes due to inconsistent spread, their real strength is against big targets in pve. There are videos of people fucking one-shotting enemies like trolls and dragons. - O'Flame can true combo into catch flame, and iirc the charging speed of o'flame is EXTREMELY fast. Also, burn o flame has more consistent spread than you think and a big aoe, unlike ancient dragon's lightning strike(which is quite similar) it's a lot better against smaller targets like players with how much damage a single pillar can do. - Pest threads is also very good against big targets, because the same individual projectiles can potentially hit multiple times in short succession. Lastly, Scarlet Aeonia inflicts a special version of rot that is way stronger than other sources the player can inflict to my knowledge.

That uncharged Lighting Spear @19:32 doing that insane damage (then the Glaive right after) was due to your opponent standing in water, reducing lightning res. So you had both seals boosts + Canvas boost + environmental advantage in that one hit. Just guessing but it may have done something in the mid 800s dmg if you had charged it. Some other fun little tidbits: Lansseax Glaive's blade part does more damage then the wave itself, so it's more like other summoned weapon spells, like Gavel. Both Dragon Lightning Spears can be aimed off a ledge and hit people below you. Scouring BlackFlame is weird because it sharply rises up after casting. Free-aiming it down make it hit stuff near the ground better. Heal spells scale with FTH very well, making them heal upwards to 1.3k hp at 80 FTH. And, while this is mainly a PvP showcase video, it does have a secondary use in PvE: all the AoE heals shred the damned Revenants. Even Blessing's Boon does DoT damage since it applies the regen to those bastards. Erdtree Heal is uniquely dangerous has it can heal Crucible Knights if used near them. EXTREMELY situational but lore accurate! (Don't worry if you didn't know, I also JUST learned that.) My favorite incantation has to be the Ring of Light. It is cheap, has really good range, not the best damage but can be combo'd into Erdtree's Greatshield's Golden Retaliation (or Carian Retaliation if you wanna change to magic dmg), giving it potential of 3 hits for the cheap cost of 7 FP (3 for spell and 4 for the shield reflect). Triple Rings also works but Golden Retaliation scales on upgrade level, not on the spell it reflects.
So obviously not shown in the vid cause it's only really useful in PVE, but darkness blinds enemies it hits and resets their aggro, which on enemies that can be backstabbed can allow for chain backstabs with little to no danger (so long as you remember to crouch walk or have something on so you don't produce sound). Also, the cloud can potentially stagger enemies with little to no poise. I recommend anyone who hasn't tried to use it to give it a try.

Im doing a black flame build with malikeths black blade incantation. Ritual is less of a get off me button in pvp and more of a stay away. You cast it to protect yourself with fire so that you give yourself a bit of time to cast scouring black flame or self buff etc. Its less about damage and more about utility. The black flame graphics make it harder to tell what you character is doing so it can throw people off, forcing them to mistime their dodge Not to say its great tho. Black flame shines more in pve than pvp. I really hope we get some more black flame spells in the dlc tho

30:24 fun fact: since you are dealing fire damage to yourself, Flame Clense Me also removes the Frost debuff! (But not the buildup, only when it has been fully applied)
For people using bestial incantations with a strength hybrid build who want to increase casting damage, you can actually two hand the seal. Since it scales with strength, two handing it increases the damage
Black flame ritual is better as a trap I think , it surrounds both of you so they’re trapped in there with you somewhat, they can get out but there’s a good chance they’ll panic and get hurt either way.
It also doesn't do more damage when charged (barring godfrey's icon). The only thing charging does is make the flame pillars appear further away from you. So charged mode is "you're trapped in here with me" while uncharged mode is "kindly get out of my face." But yes, BFR is definitely not for damage so much as controlling spacing.
16:13 This made me question my main Faith build since the Dragon Cult Incantations are by far my favourites and I've never heard of Lansseax's Glaive being chargeable. And, yeah, it is not chargeable. I'm relieved I didn't misuse it and sad I didn't learn new gameplay-altering knowledge at the same time.
Correct me if Im wrong, but the passive bonuses only apply of the item is held in your hand. Just having it equipped in an inventory slot does not provide the bonus. Just so the information is out there!
I think thats correct too, just having it in your weapon equip will not give you the buff think it has to be in active slot I think there are some weapons that will give you a buff without needing to be in active slot though but not seals
@@Ouch193 Pretty sure Radahn's spears get a 20% damage buff when the lion greatbow is equipped, but you can have the lion greatbow in your offhand, and shoot the spears with another greatbow which has better scaling, and still get the buff from the lion greatbow in offhand
While flame of the fell god is kinda hard to hit, it makes it easier to charge and use other attacks while the enemy runs away from the fireball, freeaiming giant’s flame take thee with it is specially good cause they’ll get hit by either of the two or both. Also dunno how viable this is but you can keep yourself close to the fireball so people will be afraid of coming close to you while you can also close in distance

Hey Monk, I've been playing around with an incantation build that uses all the fire incantations and have found the thing that was missing was oil pots. Once people realize you are throwing oil pots they grow bold and just let you hit them with it. Then you light em up. Doesn't matter what kind of fire, they all get boosted.
This was so so useful.....effective testing...awesome......good to see some high dmg low fp spells out there.......this really opened my eyes....thank you:).
8:12 Just like poison, having to stop to use an item can often be a big disadvantage that the opponent can use to pressure you further. Plus, you can't always roll the bleed proc. If any "Bloodflame" effect procs the bleed through the bleed-over-time buildup, not even rolling will protect you from the damage of the proc. Thus, Bloodflame Blade + anything that causes a lot of phantom hits, like Prelate's Charge, can be very strong if not dealt with properly.
The unnamed Dragonbreath spells have more range than the named ones. It's the primary reason I tend to prefer those. EDIT: Surge O Flame is meant to chip players who are nearly dead in PvP, just like every iteration that came before it in a Dark Souls game. It's not really good at anything else.
BF ritual is really good if you pair it with burn o flame if you catch somone with BF ritual and then cast BOF it melts people I call it Inferno Galore

You hit upon the weakness of many of the powerful incantations, which is that you run out of FP flasks quickly, which means you have to go hard into FP flasks or carry a backup weapon. It's difficult to make a pure caster work with powerful incantations, you have to mix it up with melee or low cost incants. I'm not complaining since it makes sense.
Black flame ritual alone sucks, but when in combo with other spells is extremely broken Inside the flame u have 0 visual, so its almost impossible to avoid the next attack
5:40 a tip for buff and healing incantations, they exclusively scale with the faith scaling of your seal, so erdtree seal is just objectively the best one for any buffs or healing incantations, assuming it's not getting a 25% seal boost from the seal matching the school of the incantation. you can test this by applying the buff with a seal that gets some scaling other than faith, testing damage, and then equipping an armor piece, talisman, or tear that boosts that other stat, buffing again, and testing again, it does literally nothing, but raising faith always makes the buff stronger regardless of seal. or try applying buff with something like clawmark and then something like erdtree, the latter will always be stronger unless it's getting boosted (e.g. blackflame blade with the godslayer seal, idk if that one even works bc black flame damage is weird) and even in cases where a seal boost would apply to a buff incant, it would be optimal to offhand the boosting item and still cast with erdtree seal.
Having the three fingers blessing also gives the frenzy flamed incantations a boost too. I used them in my first play through with my friend abd they were doing massive damage to bosses
You didn't give enough PvE credit to poison mist. It's not good in a fight generally, but it doesn't aggro the enemies when used on them, so it's great to spend 5min behind an enemy's back, waiting for them to die, instead of trying to actually fight them.
Something interesting about dual seals with Dragon Claw is that you can alternate between left and right seal and it will keep chain casting, as long as you have stamina and fp. Just Donkey Kong foul Tarnished.
With the fire incantations O Flame combos into catch flame And Flame of the Fell god into a Giants flame can create frame trap if you learn the timing meaning you'll have almost 100% chance to hit one of the strongest two fire incants
The godslayer one where you trap an enemy inside fire would go hard with the dragon incantations tho you just need to know how to use it I think. Also what happens when you spam the chasing spells while spamming other spells when they chase? That’d be a guaranteed hit right
Named dragon spells are not objectively better, the unamed one cost 25 percent less to cast which makes misses less catastrophic and just allows for more casts.
for some incomprehensible reason inescapable frenzy applies your mainhand weapon as its damage so if you want to kill people with the incantation you gotta have like a bleed dagger or something
Whenever you’re casting AoE spells, have a weapon with the “endure” ash of war. It always guarantees the fattest of trades even if the spell you’re casting doesn’t have innate hyper armor.
In my experience the dragon communion seal is the best, it requires way less faith than the erdtree seal and scales incantations almost just as well. Ive tested in and with my build at least (40 faith 20ish arc) it actually scales most incantations better than the seals meant for it at +25
There is 1 other category left other than main categories which is Tools that have 4 damaging item(Wraith calling bell,Omen bairn,Regal omen bairn,Ancestral infant's head) and there is shileds too if you count
Spent a long time learning how to free aim giantsflame and making a glass cannon build. If you free aim the spell right it's actually pretty hard to dodge and you can just one shot anyone lol
Fire surge used to be so good. Flame spray in demons souls was really busted because stacking every magic booster and the insanity catalyst would basically desimate most people.

@@Pistolsatsean The developers already reduced the amount of time you stay inside the flower for, however I think the damage of the flower during the *bloom* phase could be higher. Also, I was just saying the incantation really could benefit from *more vertical range.* More vertical range means you can fly further towards an enemy far away.
@@xXLunatikxXlul imo the damage isn't an issue because rot proc is so powerful, especially being it has a unique version of rot, the issue with it is, it basically includes a health loss on use because of how ridiculously easy it is to punish. Vertical range to me sounds like you are asking for the hitbox of the attack to be taller, but based on your description it sounds like you want the jump height/distance to be greater. Which would be a good change, but I don't think that would do enough to make it really playable (that doesn't address how easy it is to punish, and would make it even easier to dodge simply because the user would be in the animation for even longer)
the finger seal is really solid for early to mid game because it has the best spell buff available until the erdtree seal starts outscaling it at extremely high levels of faith
Basic explanation for each Incantation type: Bestial - This is literally just a Barbarian's attempt at magic. "I CAST FUCKIN' ROCK." Blood - Oopy goopy hemoglobin! Hopefully these don't have some sort of weird, Dead Man Wonderland-esque downisde of risking Anemia... Dragon Communion - You ever just wanna go fuckin' apeshit? You just wanna see people die? Here ya go. Dragon Cult - AND THEN ALONG CAME ZEUS- Erdtree - I think this is as close as you're getting to being a druid in Elden Ring, given it's magic from a fuckin' tree. Fire Monk/Giant - Gonna be honest, I like the idea of Flame of the Fell God. It's just "Hey guys, look what I can do", and you just create a damned sun. Frenzied Flame - YOU EVER JUST WANNA GO FUCKIN' APESHIT- (I know, I said this already, but like... It makes more sense here. Also, can we just talk about how Inescapable Frenzy is just the Ghost Rider's Penance Stare, but instead of making you regret every choice you ever made, it just makes ya go kookoo banana-hammocks.) Blackflame - Honestly, it just seems like this is the Fire Monk school of magic... But edgy. Two Finger - Not much to say here. It's pacifism 101 over here, unless you count pushing people around as comparable to setting someone on fire. Golden Order - Terrible cult. Amazing spell choices. Servants of Rot - All the magic in the world... And you decide to contravene the Geneva Convention with chemical warfare?

Ancient Dragon's Lightning Strike is so OP. It is like the Comet Azure of Incantations, exept it is actually useful outside of biss cheese setups.
"You want another smooch?!" got me rofl. You're great, Monk! Love the content so much
I cant say enough how much I love the dragon claw.
My frenzied flame build is one of the most fun builds I've played. Also very strong in pve and pvp.
Miss your content, would be happy to see your videos more often
For the blakcflames, the double godflame seal is weaker than the dragon communion with the godflame if you want to spec into arcane too.
The crucible spells actually get buffed by the crucible armor!
He mentioned that.
Sonaf in right hand, mikellas ks is left hand, int/faith build and g order incantations. Great build pve, ans pvp
for some incomprehensible reason inescapable frenzy applies your mainhand weapon as its damage so if you want to kill people with the incantation you gotta have like a bleed dagger or something
Always amazes me how much content they have in this game
Goro Luigi and Goro Mario weren't there for long but they were both amazing.
Great video definitely will be looking up how to get some of these they look sick
Ive tested in and with my build at least (40 faith 20ish arc) it actually scales most incantations better than the seals meant for it at +25
pest threads is honestly either a zoning tool in pvp and a massive enemy killer in pve
"dab me up big dog" with dragonclaw is so funny 🤣
There is 1 other category left other than main categories which is Tools that have 4 damaging item(Wraith calling bell,Omen bairn,Regal omen bairn,Ancestral infant's head) and there is shileds too if you count
Ancestral infant is sorcery based, and the bells and bairns are hex/death/ rancor magic but do do holy damage.
2 or the 3 chi Elsa are just cannons and the other is definitely an anti sorcery thing
Monk my beloved
Placidusax’s Ruin is just super laser piss, change my mind
Spent a long time learning how to free aim giantsflame and making a glass cannon build. If you free aim the spell right it's actually pretty hard to dodge and you can just one shot anyone lol
I don't know why "I could've gone mad once more," killed me lmao!
One thing I noticed when doing the dragon communion Incantations is that you stayed locked on, these incantations work better when free aimed.
Hitting frozen lightning strike in pvp is so nice, cause it feels like cocking a shotgun and then firing.
Appreciate you not being cheesy in PvP by not using a bunch of buffs
Fortissax’s lightning spear if aimed down from a cliff side will send down the spear itself.
finally someone who views magic objectively and not just "huhu weapon better just use a sword"
Death lightning is amazing and will always one shot, if it hits.
What’s the highest damage you have gotten on it?
Dragon cult incantations and a good melee with lightning infused is nuts
Fire surge used to be so good. Flame spray in demons souls was really busted because stacking every magic booster and the insanity catalyst would basically desimate most people.
Swarm of Flies is amazing against Melania's second phase
noteworthy: crucible incantations and ashes of war (ordovis, siluria) are buffed by wearing the crucible knight armor set
Don't know if it comes up, but i think Greyoll's Roar applied a damage and defense debuff as well if it hits.
The best incantation is Force. Oh Force, how many have you helped me send to their graves by launching them from cliffs, elevators, and into holes… it genuinely never gets old.
Sad to see what has happened to wrath of god
Black flame is chargeable
You can also chain cast honed bolt with lightning strike
Crazy good vid!
The problem with Aeonia is not even hitting or proccing rot, it is the down time after, casting it and missing is a death sentence
True. It really just needs a buff on vertical range.
@@xXLunatikxXlul huh? What does that have to do with the animation length?
@@Pistolsatsean Maybe if the developers give a 80% damage reduction when you are inside the flower, that *could* help make it less punishing.
Oh man I’m so excited for the dlc incantations
Great stuff 👏
Give me the bloodflame splash from Mohg that shoots straight insgead sideways and I would be happy.
i’ve been waiting for this😍
I believe you can infinitely combo dragon claw if you alternate the hand you cast in
The reason for the lightening bolt did 715 damage is cause hes in water which lowers your lightening defense
the finger seal is really solid for early to mid game because it has the best spell buff available until the erdtree seal starts outscaling it at extremely high levels of faith
Godslayer beats it iirc, but has higher requirements. Finger seal is by far most accessible.
Surge o flame is an anti-lock on spell, you get the best of it if you don’t lock on to your opponent (still doesn’t make it good though.)
Basic explanation for each Incantation type:
Bestial - This is literally just a Barbarian's attempt at magic. "I CAST FUCKIN' ROCK."
Blood - Oopy goopy hemoglobin! Hopefully these don't have some sort of weird, Dead Man Wonderland-esque downisde of risking Anemia...
Dragon Communion - You ever just wanna go fuckin' apeshit? You just wanna see people die? Here ya go.
Dragon Cult - AND THEN ALONG CAME ZEUS-
Erdtree - I think this is as close as you're getting to being a druid in Elden Ring, given it's magic from a fuckin' tree.
Also, can we just talk about how Inescapable Frenzy is just the Ghost Rider's Penance Stare, but instead of making you regret every choice you ever made, it just makes ya go kookoo banana-hammocks.)
Blackflame - Honestly, it just seems like this is the Fire Monk school of magic...
