Sometimes mid-range variants are actually better then their flagship variant simply because of the cost of said flagship devices. You might get like 4 or 5 more small features in a flagship device, for nearly double or even triple the cost. Like the Galaxy A series phones, though they might not be as good as the Galaxy S series, they are actually really good phones, and at half the price, if I didn't buy my Galaxy S10+ used, I could have bought an A series new for about the same price (though I was really set on the S10+ and don't regret it)

I have been using this Tab A7 for online classes for quite a while now, and I don't have any regrets at all! This is a pretty decent tablet for productivity. However, just like what is says on the video, it does not come with S Pen & it lacks some functionality that other tablets (like S6 Lite) have. If you're looking for a tablet to use for entertainment and/or online class, I suggest you buying this one!

I've plugged a wireless receiver into the i/o socket to connect a mouse if I need it and a bluetooth keyboard works fine - unlike the Lenevo which somehow would often garble the input. Battery life seems good. In short I'm very pleased with it

I have a stylus with one of those small ball joints and a flat disc on it, used to work perfect on my old tab, but this I have no precision. small price to pay I guess, needed a new tab, can be a little laggy, but it didn't cost near a grand so...

It's quite amazing how far we've come when it comes to tablet affordability. My first tablet was an Acer and was pretty bulky in 2011 with a memory of 16 gb, 7 inch screen priced at 270 at Best Buy.
I just brought one for my dad, that’s his Christmas gift, that way he can watch TH-cam, and TH-cam TV, he’s not going to really use it for anything else so I think he’ll like it
FYI I use mine for TH-cam 📺 TV along with a killer JBL Bluetooth "Charge 4" and I'm telling you .....the experience is hard to beat and with the the smaller setup it yields a very "personal, intimate" experience.
Happy with my tab 7 .the price was good...has great speaker ..I bought a nice cover from Amazon that I think was cheaper and protects tablet all around.

@ Clarize Merzo - I encouraged my mum to buy an Samsung tablet 3 years ago - she loved it, and when she died in 2018 I inherited it (an upgrade from my 2012 Nexus 7). Unfortunately it has just died and I need a new one!! I have found that, when introducing older people to using tech, they find the touchscreens more intuitive, versus a mouse and keyboard. My mum was nearly 80 and had bad eyesight but she still managed to learn how to play games, search the web and watch films/ TV on her tablet.
Thanks for mentioning the display issue. There's been plenty of people noticing it across the web. It looks at its best at the center but it's too narrow. The sides will be darker and less contrasty. Smells like some sort of VA panel with inherent gamma problems on corners. Vision can be subjective though. Most people don't care about these.
I care a lot about this aspect. So, I disposed myself of this tablet. For this this reason only. For me, this is the most important aspect in a tablet.
A capacity of around 22Gb (32Gb less OS, bloatware, and some factory-installed applications actually desired) is pretty large, but given that the unit and OS are built such that applications can't be dependably installed on an external card, just getting a large external card might not be the same. (Yes, developer options might allow extCard installations on the A7, but I've noticed degraded and wonky performance when doing that on a Tab A/r.10.x, so I stopped doing that.)
I love my Samsung Tab A7 10.4 in... that I just bought in Target 2 weeks ago for $178. Your review was interesting and pretty thorough. One feature that I found to be amazing was how you can pinch/zoom a tiny square inch and fill the entire tablet with it !! I feel like it's some of the best money I've spent in the last couple years. I'd probably by this tablet if it was $300 now that I know what I have. Now, I am looking for a good case for it.
My family gave this one to me for xmas to replace my 4 year old tab A and even my older one is still in good condition! I enjoy using my newer one its faster and I love the sleeker look of it. I am a huge fan of Samsung Tablets and been using them ever since they came on the market many years ago.

Why!?! Why are new devices being made with 3Gb of main memory? 4Gb SHOULD be the MINIMUM on Android.... It just helps the firmware running efficiently, and that 1Gb would make a huge difference.... 🤔
Futur buyer be careful even if Samsung description say you can increase the memory with a sdcard it iisvery milited because you can not transfer applications as with any other android device.

I find it charges faster with a higher wattage adapter. I am pretty sure it can charge at higher rates than advertised. I use the charger from my one plus 6t and it's faster.
I've been debating a tablet for on the go since I switched from laptop to desktop PC. I have been circling around this tab for a while, since the S7/S7+ and similar tablets price has been putting me off the idea. I am happy to say you've convinced me the A7 is a worthy acquisition. Good review overall. I would say it would be worth adding things like tablet performance watching movies over PLEX, and highlighting the performance of the tab during some more demanding 3D games; demonstrating gaming over something like Xbox xcloud would be a bonus.
I have a lot of tablets I'm a tablet collector of Huawei and Samsung and I'm currently using my Huawei MatePad 10,4 (until now) and I have that tablet but I'm from Philippines so it's about 16k PhP so yeah. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK SHANE!!

I've owned this tablet for 6 months now, and what has surprised me is the durability. I don't have a case or screen protector and after multiple nasty drops, it still works fine. The only down side is the corner headphone jack has been crushed partially closed, but the tablet still works fine and I only use Bluetooth headsets anyways.

I'm actually watching this on last years tab A. It can be a bit sluggish at times, but for the price I'm absolutely enamored with it. Edit: I should also mention that the tab A 2019 has 2 speakers instead of 1. That's still not 4 though.
Thanks for the review, I bought A7 after watching this. Imo, unless you need super quick RAM crunching experience it's pretty good tablet for the price. It's very useful for YT and some lite graphic intense games

Man I really liked the way you reviewed this device even though I'm watching it the day after I bought it. Yes it takes way too long to charge up but the battery life is decent so that sort of makes up for it. The display is great too and I can see everything on my screen from every angle. I checked. Just set my tab A7 up today I can make phone calls and send messages on it cant wait to do do video calling on duo it actually works and the best thing is I can do it without a sim card this is one awesome tablet

my ipad mini 2 just gave up on me. Ive been shopping for a new tablet, but all i use my ipad for is to watch shows, display cross stitch and crochet patterns, and do other crafty things that dont take much out of a tablet, and i definetky dont want to spend over $300 for what I essentially use as a google drive machine. My only fear with getting the A7 is that all of my other devices are apple.
I had the same problem/worry! I wanted to use the tablet to manage music, and thought I'd have to spend the coin on another ipad but found a remarkable android app (MusicSheetsPro) that does exactly what I need. The A7 has worked great so far
Good overall review. I like that you point out some issues, but also keep things in perspective -like the rotation and reaction time. You also mentioned energy comsumption percentage on different activities as well as the slow charging. I did notice that as well. I use a different charger from another tablet that has fast charging. Does fast charging damage or shorten the life of the battery? I also like you mentioned/compare the other tablets -Tab A, S6 lite and S7. Great job.

I find it charges faster with a higher wattage adapter. I am pretty sure it can charge at higher rates than advertised. I use the charger from my one plus 6t and it's faster.

I've been debating a tablet for on the go since I switched from laptop to desktop PC. I have been circling around this tab for a while, since the S7/S7+ and similar tablets price has been putting me off the idea. I am happy to say you've convinced me the A7 is a worthy acquisition.
Good review overall. I would say it would be worth adding things like tablet performance watching movies over PLEX, and highlighting the performance of the tab during some more demanding 3D games; demonstrating gaming over something like Xbox xcloud would be a bonus.

I've owned this tablet for 6 months now, and what has surprised me is the durability. I don't have a case or screen protector and after multiple nasty drops, it still works fine.
The only down side is the corner headphone jack has been crushed partially closed, but the tablet still works fine and I only use Bluetooth headsets anyways.

I'm actually watching this on last years tab A. It can be a bit sluggish at times, but for the price I'm absolutely enamored with it.
Edit: I should also mention that the tab A 2019 has 2 speakers instead of 1. That's still not 4 though.

Man I really liked the way you reviewed this device even though I'm watching it the day after I bought it. Yes it takes way too long to charge up but the battery life is decent so that sort of makes up for it. The display is great too and I can see everything on my screen from every angle. I checked. Great review!

my ipad mini 2 just gave up on me. Ive been shopping for a new tablet, but all i use my ipad for is to watch shows, display cross stitch and crochet patterns, and do other crafty things that dont take much out of a tablet, and i definetky dont want to spend over $300 for what I essentially use as a google drive machine. My only fear with getting the A7 is that all of my other devices are apple.
I had the same problem/worry! I wanted to use the tablet to manage music, and thought I'd have to spend the coin on another ipad but found a remarkable android app (MusicSheetsPro) that does exactly what I need. The A7 has worked great so far
My 9 years old son loves to make video with his old tablet, would you recommend the A7 for the same use or should I buy the S6 Lite?
S6 for productive purpose is better.
if he edites the videos i would go for the s6 lite but i he just makes the photos then the a7 is enough. they have the same camera

Good overall review. I like that you point out some issues, but also keep things in perspective -like the rotation and reaction time. You also mentioned energy comsumption percentage on different activities as well as the slow charging. I did notice that as well. I use a different charger from another tablet that has fast charging. Does fast charging damage or shorten the life of the battery? I also like you mentioned/compare the other tablets -Tab A, S6 lite and S7. Great job.
