Thank you. Always see something on this trail. Didn't catch it on film but a deer ran right across me as well

Thanks Steve for posting this - we've done Sydenham to K&P lots - but I think we will head east and do an overnight at opinicon and make it a fun weekend!! PS. you can speak pretty well at that speed!

Your timing for this ride was great. We were just talking about planning a trip to do the Cataraqui trail for early July, and now we have a location for an overnight and an ice cream. We’re planning on starting in Napanee and go out to Smith Falls Chaffey’s Lock looks great. Any other recommendations along the route would be awesome. As always enjoyed the ride!

Hi Owen, that is great! You will love the trail and quite a bit of tree cover if it is hot in July. Newburgh and Camden East are nice for the first leg. Grab a coffee and snack and Stone Corner cafe in Camden East. Sydenham will be about half way point of your ride and is where i started this leg and there is a food truck and grocery store right off the trail and restaurants. Not much else until you get to Chaffeys Locks. Enjoy the ride!

Thanks for the great video. I u derstand that this connects to the Ottawa Valley Trail and the K & P Trail for atotal of 580km.
Are there any GPX FILES that tie these together?

Not sure about that. You can check out the new MORE cycling route which takes in part of the OVRT and the Cat Trail and K&P are well marked and the intersections have signage and easy to plot on a cycling app. That would be quite the adventure

How is the trail surface? Looks more rugged, not fine packed like some of the other rail trails.

It definitely varies on this section but is well worth it. Everything from fine packed gravel to grass, small rocks and roots and a couple of sections prone to getting muddy. I have done this trail on everything from a hybrid to road and gravel bike.
