Dude... I had my doubts. I have been struggling for SO LONG to find a fix, and nothing else happened til I found your video through a forum thread. I aint religious but god BLESS you man. Simple, fast, and straight to the point. Will report on any updates I have, whether this ends up not fixing the problem, or if no disconnects happen after a few days.

I cannot thank you enough for this! I bought an A7000 a couple weeks ago while traveling and it has been nothing but a pain. Now, it is working great! Good hardware; crap software from NETGEAR. I wish companies like this would take responsibility for their product.

This video just helped with all the problems of my Netgear A6210 going out intermittently. I can now do everything I need to do from college school work to making TH-cam videos. Thank you for this extremely helpful video, you just saved me from buying a new adapter!
*Note: I didn't see the adapter on other drivers, instead, I went back to wifi and went to what is called 802 + it's wifi code name. So I wemt there to update the driver for my adapter, and it worked! It then renamed my device to NETGEAR A6210 Wifi USB 3.0 Adapter in Device Manager.

After 6 weeks of testing Sam's fix it really worked. Tried 4 different methods and this finally fixed the problem. It's all Genie's fault all along. After 9 months and 11 days of dealing random disconnection I'm now have solid connection. Thank you.

So HAPPY I FOUND THIS VIDEO 😃😃😃. I've had this device for some years and put it aside cause it was tooooo slow. I thought Netgear cheated me and this was a piece of junk, until I was forced to have to use it when my wifi card got removed.
I was frustrated and was looking everywhere for best driver for this and came across this video exposing how bad Netgear Genie is in making it slow and showing how to install the driver without it.
DUDE!! After doing this and restarting my laptop, the speed was so FAAAAASTTTA😃😃😃.
I WAS SO HAPPY!!! I realized I had a valuable item all this time and that it was a terrible software that we hindering it's potential.

  • @eurodudenj
    @eurodudenj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks! I have BSOD and disconnecting issues on 1 of 2 computers with this A7000 (read FURTHER below for the issue)
First the good news: I have this Netgear A7000 adapter (also tried the Asus USB-AC68 but the Asus was much slower / inconsistent). The Netgear A7000 works flawlessly on my 2017 Acer Predator G5-793-72AU. That is the great news and I had been using that laptop with this adapter. Getting 850 Mbps download speeds on Speedtest app!
Now to the bad news: When I use the A7000 on a 16GB 2020 Samsung Galaxy Flex laptop, connected via a USB-C to USB-A adapter (since the laptop has no USB-A ports) and I want to restart the laptop, the laptop hangs on 'restarting' (Windows).
(I bought 2 of these adapters one for each computer), but I tested on the Galaxy Book Flex using the same exact one that was hooked up to the Predator.
On the Galaxy Book Flex, with the A7000 connected, the wifi connection keeps getting lost. Also the laptop hangs indefinitely (forever) while restarting; the only thing to get the computer to restart is to unplug the A7000 from the USB port, but then I get a stop code Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) - "Unexpected Kernel Mode Trap".
Does your 'trick' prevent the disconnecting / BSOD issues with the A7000? I am seeing lots of posts on the NG forums about this same issue, and it seems one user pinpointed the issue to the type of USB port being used. However Netgear needs to step up and fix this issue given all the recent threads on BSOD with the A7000, especially since this adapter is still being actively sold.
One user noted that for him it worked on a USB port connected directly to his motherboard but not another USB port. But a good adapter driver should work on various USB 3.0 ports,...
Also, thanks for pointing out that the so called stand-alone A7000 driver package still contains and installs Netgear Genie.
I love my Orbi RBK853 wifi mesh system (and 2 older Orbi units which preceded it), but this A7000 adapter has lots of issues and the drivers have not been updated since 2017... :(
If anyone has a fix for the disconnects and BSOD, let me know. I will try this video's trick in the meantime; thanks Samuel for posting it! Perhaps this will help for the disconnects...

Twice now I have seen my 5ghz SSID disappear, last time the solution was to change the SSID then back and it showed again. Real daft issue considering none of my other devices had issues seeing the 5.0 ghz band ssid.

Holy shit, you really did me a solid here. I recently upgraded my PC, and overhauled it, and also installed a new motherboard. On my old motherboard, I had a built in wifi adapter, and I had to run out and get a new adapter. I got the Nighthawk, and I have had the shittiest of connection issues for the past few weeks now. Finally, after having to deal with Netgears piece of shit software, that genuinely looks like a programmers first "Hello World" project, I finally got fed up with it and found your video. My connection to wifi on my computer has not gone offline since. Thanks man.

You can’t deny the adapter working correctly as it should is excellent and worth the expensive price tag, it is way ahead of any other adapter on the market.

Just tried this and wanted to add. My computer was still connecting to the wifi, but was not doing so through the adapter. I disabled my original adapters under “network adapters” then for me it was Realtek adapter and Realtek adapter #2. This will disable your WiFi on your computer. Then it will connect through the A7000 After that I unplugged the A7000 and plugged it back in. It took a second, but eventually popped up available networks. I signed into mine and was fine. I shut down my computer to make sure it would connect on startup and it did. It took about as long as my old WiFi adapters but the speed is 5x as fast so I’m happy. Should this ever fail to work you can go back and re-enable your original WiFi adapters that are in your PC. Hope this helps if you’re as bad with computers as I am
