Hi Jay, I have a lot of fun watching your experiments. I am an ex rocket design engineer (science license haver) with a fair amount of experience with high pressure pneumatics. One thing you might try to make your experiments safer is to use pressurized water to fill whatever it is you are pressure testing ( as long as it is appropriate to the system). Pressurized gas can store a lot of energy as you saw, and a way to mitigate the danger posed by having a pressurized volume is to use an inconpressible fluid like water to fill up most of the volume, and then adding pneumatic pressure to that system. I'd hate to see you or Phil get hurt pursuing these very exciting experiments and thought this might be something for you to consider. Have a great day, and keep up the fun content!

This makes me wonder how long before Steamfitters start getting commissioned to build PC Radiator arrays. We already do full scale installations of Datacenters and Chip Plants but I mean for Personal Computers. Someone call up their local Mechanical Company:
Customer - "Do you guys hook up PC Cooling?" lol
Sales Rep - "We sure do!, what sort of system are you interested in? Copper? Steel? Stainless Steel? Aluminum? Glass? PVC?"
Customer - "Oh wow.. uh.. I didn't know there were that many options"
Sales Rep - "Oh sure, we also offer different types of joint bonds too; Soldered, Brazed, GTAW Welded, Orbital Welded, Swagelok, Or just simple Compression Fittings with Flex connections?"
Customer - "Oh my.. uh.. Got anything that's shiny like silver?"
Sales Rep - "Yup, that would be 316 Stainless Steel (Expensive but would look damn impressive). Do you want that in Water or Freon? Or perhaps you'd like that with a Freon loop for refrigeration?"
Could go on for hours, but yeah the market for this looks interesting and some truly impressive designs can be made. And all of them would hold up to several thousands of pounds of pressure (no idea why you'd want or need that) and could easily put your hardware into a small freezer complete with air-dryer to keep everything from sweating and shorting out lol

Alpha Cool uses the rear washer, just like Swagelok proved with their compression fittings, that a rear facing washer applies the nut pressure more evenly on the compression material, whether gasket or metal sealing, to give a much better sealing action. its especially important with metal to metal seals. We used nothing but Swagelok in the semi conductor fabrication equipment I designed and built for a decade.
