Eating ONLY PINK STREET FOOD at a CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL in JAPAN - Early Blooming Kawazu Sakura

- Sakura season is hitting Japan and that means an abundance of pink cherry blossom themed street foods! I ended up going to the Kawazu Sakura Festival in Izu at the end of February to see the early blooming cherry blossoms and try all these foods. This festival lasts an entire month and coincides with the blooming of the cherry blossoms over there (which bloom a whole month or so earlier than the predominant species of sakura in the main Tokyo area).
The festival occurs along the Kawazu River and there are a ton of food stalls set up along the way offering a lot of really good foods. Since this is a sakura festival there are a ton of different sakura flavored foods as well and I make my way through all of them! If you're interested in pink foods, trying out street food in Japan, or just want to experience a somewhat calm atmosphere while being surrounded by a ton of sakura trees then this is definitely a place I'd recommend checking out :D

I was there on February 25th! It looks like this year it'll run from 2/1-2/29 and the festival does also occur on weekdays as well although I'm not too sure if every single stall is going to be open on those days!

Very informative video! I’m planning on visiting an ryokan/onsen hotel for 1 day & drop by to see the kawazu sakura in the end of Feb. How do you go about purchasing train tickets (tokyo to kawazu) in advance? Can the tickets be purchased online or only in person? Thank you so much!
You can purchase tickets online on the JR East website (for this option you have to physically pick up the tickets at a machine at whatever station you designate) or you can also just buy them straight from the machine at most of the major stations as well (Tokyo Station, Shinjuku Station, Ikebukuro Station, etc)
Looks amazing! I believe there will be a light up of the sakura trees towards the evening. Would you happen to know what time the store closes?
I'm not too sure of the exact time but a lot of the small stands and shops along the pathway were already starting to close or were already closed around 5pm!

@@joansbeef4035 true! The festival will be pretty good regardless of when you go, you just end up getting to experience different parts of it haha. Also yup I'm still living in Japan!

how did u get to kawazu station? Is there a direct train there?
You can take a limited express train straight from Tokyo station to Kawazu Station or you can also go from Tokyo Station to Yokohama Station and then transfer to a train from Yokohama Station to Kawazu Station at half the price! (although that option takes roughly 20 minutes longer)
But honestly the most convenient way is to just put into Google Maps, Tokyo station to Kawazu Station and just follow those directions (that's what I did last time 😅)
