  • Quick and easy brake drum replacement on a 1995 EZ-GO golf cart. The brake drum strips out where it connects to the splined drive axle and must be replaced.

Thanks so much, Jay! Where do you order the brake hub kit, the new one?

That castle nut needs to be torqued to at least 80-90 ft. lbs. some say 120 ft. lbs. but do not exceed 140. Torqueing to less will cause the spline to strip out much sooner. Also check the spline on the axel if it is warn that will also cause the spline to strip again.

This is good to know, I have a 2004 EZGO and it must have the same brake drums. My guess is when this happens on one side the cart will begin to self steering to one side, am I right? My Golf Cart today has no brakes and pedal has no tension, that is why I ran across you video, will get under my cart tomorrow I'm sure I have a cable problem.

Todd O I have had the same problem in the past and I ended up having to cut the drum off with a grinder.
