@@SapphicSaphira Risk of Rain 2 is one those examples. The PC works perfectly with DLC. The console ports however is a buggy mess that is game breaking and with no DLC. And the updates has been delayed forever until its put out as 2023 with no exact date.

A reminder, Roblox is a game engine. Not a game itself.
One thing 90% of people forget about, I feel. Roblox is no different from Source or the RE Engine. It's hard as hell to make things realistic, sure, but it can be done. This game is an example of just that.
@@BluebirdBT The biggest fault of the Roblox engine is how inneficiently it renders staple things that are no brainers in other engine. Things like AO, light and shadow maps, etc. It's why every roblox game that goes for this more advanced look runs like total garbage. The engine can be bruteforced to do these features in a janky way but it doesn't support them properly.
Also the netcode is beyond unusable. Funny for an engine made for multiplayer.

Not quite, Roblox is a pretty 'bare bones' game engine itself. Pretty much everything you see in the games on Roblox is made entirely by the developers of those games. From gameplay mechanics to even graphics in many cases.

@@SeizureSalad 30% cut is still a whole damn lot and they get paid through robux like how companies back in the old days of the US would pay workers with a company currency and they'd use it on company products required for living so money keeps circulating through the company. And if they use devexchange they dont give you nearly as much money as the robux is actually worth. You get a ton of money stolen from you and roblox keeps profiting off of young developers, same with big roblox dev groups that employ teens and pay them with dirt.

Considering how much money roblox takes away from the developer, I hope they make this into a stand alone game
Roblox pre-codes the characters and physics, along with providing free multiplayer servers. I doubt they would try to make it into a standalone game before even making enough money to do so.
They would basicaly need to remake it as they cant use most of what they made if they make it a stand alone

@@guy46189I do coding stuff, and physics is not the hardest thing there, it's pretty simple compared to anything else,
It's not made in roblox, it's being made with the roblox engine. Making this purely with the official easy. Apex legends was made with the source engine and feels completely different from CS:GO or any other source game. Game engines are very versatile. The Cry engine has been used for tons of games that aren't close to feeling like Crysis.
A note about silencers... you don't just screw on / screw off silencers as needed like in bond films, and they also don't heat up so much they'd glow after only a few shots. (Also yes in the UK we call them silencers not suppressors). Otherwise it looks pretty interesting. Shame VR is still such a niche thing from both price and area requirements.

@@Abhishek-tw8fr I said "as needed" obviously they're threaded, but you don't just pop them on and off like it's nothing like video games portray or bond films would have people believe. They get hot FAST (though not red hot duh) and you're not taking that off by hand whilst still in combat.

This was made in roblox so it's not a standalone game. but if it's made not in any platform. then it's a standalone game. not that we need to find another game to play the game (in this case we need roblox). sorry for a bad explanation.
The even more impressive part is that roblox uses lua as a coding language, not c++ or c# just simple lua. Really insane
I mean the Crytek Engine uses Lua and that was literally used to make games like Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Crysis

Many, many people underestimate just how good roblox games can be. Standard Issue was a masterpiece, but it died because the dev got banned so he couldnt fix glitches that came along.

There are plenty of fantastic games but they get buried under the trash that is the front page, and ever since Roblox removed search categories it makes searching for new games near-impossible.

I like this because it isn’t what roblox is like in the mass produced sense, but in it’s original idea: give people tools to create games. And the fact that they went so far with it is amazing.

The reason the meshes look good is because the Devs most likely used Blender, it is pretty much impossible to get meshes that good with regular Roblox Parts. So it wasn't entirely made in Roblox.
The problem is no voice chat in a social game as roblox killed it on quest for me. If they implement voice chat like vrchat does, roblox would be amazing on the quest..

It’s been on there for like a year my man. Since roblox came to VR after a few updates (I think in like the span of a few weeks max) they implemented voice chat. You just gotta verify your email and phone number and eventually it’ll come, or use your ID to verify you’re 13 or older on roblox and it works on VR as soon as you get it on your own account.
The weapons actually look realistic. That slight upward tilt on that handgun barrel is a good attention to detail.
Most "bigger" games do that right nowadays, even like rust in 2013 had an upwards tilting barrel on it's bought asset of a p250

To think a game that I used to get up and play before school when I was seven nearly fifteen years ago, is still not only popular and being played, but also being used to make VR games is mind boggling.

@@lathrin debatable. it's capped at 60fps but i use an fps unlocked and get about 130 fps in most games. i have a gtx 1060, a 7 year old card.
Fun Fact: Roblox Studio (the game engine Roblox developers use) has the same technology as Unreal Engine 4.6, the only limit are the tools and accessibility of the features, but if you really know how and what to do, you can make any Roblox game look much better then most triple A games

I’m 20, about to turn 21. I used to love Roblox when I was younger. I started playing in 2008 when I was 6 years old. Time flies. It’s crazy how far the platform has come graphically and performance wise. If it wasn’t for the severely under appreciated and underpaid developers, this site would be nothing today. Their success is built off the backs of highly-motivated and super creative artists who are constantly evolving the platform.
And yet Roblox is still not listening to the community, which is the one making them billions in the first place. Roblox was nicer and actually interacted with the community back then. It’s truly sad that they became this way.

Whatever system that Roblox is allowing devs to create stuff like this is what VRChat needs to take note of tbh. You can achieve a lot in VRChat but it's SDK is still crazy limiting.

I've heard about Noah and his projects and he's talented without a doubt - however, a big issue whilst developing this is optimizing things to keep lag at a level.
Roblox isn't necessarily known to have the best servers and there are still several complications we need to combat against or find alternatives to.
A prime example would be Frontlines, with somewhat similar features to Ares, a small portion of those with high-end monitors/pcs can play it while others can't.
All in all I cant wait for Noah to release more snippets and sneakpeaks of the project

There’s a Portal fan game called Tunneler that has amazing graphics, mechanics faithful to the original, and references to Portal.
They went from making a DOOM port for Roblox to THIS. These two are unstoppable.

Don't underestimate LUA man. Roblox's main art style and demographic makes it seem boring, but with how much they let you do with LUA and such, some crazy things can be accomplished

Roblox has free server, pre-coded physics and all that shit. This is why they take away money. Do you know how much server upkeep costs?
while its true roblox devs arent paid super fairly, its not for no reason. roblox subtracts their server costs from the money you earn so that you can continue using their servers without having to pay for it yourself.

For those who don't know how roblox development goes, I'll tell you it might not be what you think. It's not like geometry dash or Mario maker where you have to make your own circuit boards and logic gates in the game.
Roblox studio is basically its own API for coding with Lua but easier. in layman's terms... it's basically like coding a game like normal, but instead of dragging assets in that you made in a 3D modeling software, you drag in roblox models that are already made for you. Well if you drag in your own models anyway (which a lot of the high-end roblox games do) you can get something like this.
Oh, also, a lot of the small stuff which would usually give you a headache is already done too before you even start making a game. That includes gravity, player control, server-client communication, basic anti-cheat, and more. Of course, you can still manipulate these things, it's just nice that you don't have to start from square 0, which would be a completely black screen with nothing on it.

The thing they aren't telling you is that it's created using *just* the game engine (OGRE). It is NOT made using the engine-interface template that the server system ROBLOX uses to make its self-building minigame community. That's like Skyblivion, the project to create Oblivion within the modern engine of Skyrim based on the template Skyrim uses to base the gameplay on. These guys are basically just using Creation Engine and HAVOK from scratch if that were the example.
