    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would work with modern phone, too. It creates a static signal, that is stronger than the cell signal and therefore blocks it.
      I haven‘t tried out the exact circuit, but i‘ve used a Raspberry Pi as a signal generator and it blocked the signal of my smartphone (however if it just jams the signal on a single frequency, most devices will just use another frequency or EDGE/GSM).

    I made similar tv jammers in the 70's, got into a lot of trouble as well! this is just a "dirty" square wave oscillator that jams "dc to daylight" like the old spark transmitters, jams all frequencies, but as commented below, limited range.

  • @jackburnell3209
    @jackburnell3209 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I built a police radio jammer in a matchbox back in the early 80s using transistors for the oscillator rather than a 555. I tuned it by sitting in the coffee shop by some cops and used a flattened toothpick to adjust the Fq through a hole in the box above the PCB pot until their radio just went dead silent. 555/556/558 are one of the most useful ICs on the market though.
    I also built a super bright flashlight with a 555 to switch an LED on and off with 5vdc from the output pin so fast it looked like a solid beam but too fast to burn out the LED.
    Good old days.

      How significant does the guage of wire determine the amount of inductance of an air-wound coil if all other parameters remain constant?
      L= (d^2 * n^2)/(18d+40l)
      where:
      L is inductance in micro Henrys,
      d is coil diameter in inches,
      l is coil length in inches, and
      n is number of turns.

      @@goran-is6zr you should study electromagnetic waves to learn this stuff but its generally common sense to get more efficiency you should get a high output for any electronic device. in this case resistor protects some of the elements in the circuits while loads the circuit a bit which causes range to decrease. you can start learning with basic circuit theory and electronic devices like transistors, diodes, op amps and so on, after that study electromagnetic field&wave theory in order to comperhend the basic logic of antennas.

      Probably 850 and/or 900 MHz. Because of that, it probably would also work on low band 4G and 5G.

      A hairdryer is basically a fan (aka a motor with blades) and a heating element. The motor uses coils to rotate, which emits a fluctuating magnetic field. If you're close enough, the magnetic field will overpower the signal, but only on the frequencies it emits ( that would be the rpm of the motor * the number of poles of the motor, and multiples of this frequency, plus probably the 50 or 60 hz from the power grid)

    • @markhaus
      @markhaus 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I never really understood this, is it a frequency multiplier? Or is it that the higher harmonics from this specific oscillator creates noise for the base band of 2/3/4G signals?

    • @flynn8860
      @flynn8860 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      IMO the oscillator is L1/L2 and varcap 30pf, the NE555 only excites this oscillator from time to time, its own frequency doesn't matter

    • @diegoclimbing
      @diegoclimbing 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perhaps the fact of being a square signal allows some of its components in high frequency to generate interference. You have to do FFT with an oscilloscope.

The content providers can't give you long-range jammer demonstrations or how to because he would get in trouble with the law. It's up to you if you would like to build on what this channel has provided by researching how to get a more extended range.

    • @chdachmen3274
      @chdachmen3274 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not 100% one this, but if you look at the circuit diagram, on the right side with the transistor, this is setup like a frequency amplifier circuit, so this could drive the standard frequency of the 555 to a frequency that would interfere with a standard cell phone signal. Also as a side note, the unit is running off of a 9V battery, so the unit wouldn't have that much power to drive out of the antenna to have that great of a range (saw someone else comment that the range of this unit, after they built it, was about 5 inches). Hope this helps!
