    I built a police radio jammer in a matchbox back in the early 80s using transistors for the oscillator rather than a 555. I tuned it by sitting in the coffee shop by some cops and used a flattened toothpick to adjust the Fq through a hole in the box above the PCB pot until their radio just went dead silent. 555/556/558 are one of the most useful ICs on the market though.
    I also built a super bright flashlight with a 555 to switch an LED on and off with 5vdc from the output pin so fast it looked like a solid beam but too fast to burn out the LED.
    Good old days.

      How significant does the guage of wire determine the amount of inductance of an air-wound coil if all other parameters remain constant?
      L= (d^2 * n^2)/(18d+40l)
      where:
      L is inductance in micro Henrys,
      d is coil diameter in inches,
      l is coil length in inches, and
      n is number of turns.

      A hairdryer is basically a fan (aka a motor with blades) and a heating element. The motor uses coils to rotate, which emits a fluctuating magnetic field. If you're close enough, the magnetic field will overpower the signal, but only on the frequencies it emits ( that would be the rpm of the motor * the number of poles of the motor, and multiples of this frequency, plus probably the 50 or 60 hz from the power grid)

      @@goran-is6zr you should study electromagnetic waves to learn this stuff but its generally common sense to get more efficiency you should get a high output for any electronic device. in this case resistor protects some of the elements in the circuits while loads the circuit a bit which causes range to decrease. you can start learning with basic circuit theory and electronic devices like transistors, diodes, op amps and so on, after that study electromagnetic field&wave theory in order to comperhend the basic logic of antennas.

    All classrooms in schools should have these as standard. When I was a secondary school teacher far too many kids would not put their phones away. The response by the senior management wasn't to totally ban phones in school, but tell teachers to take the phones!!!! Recent research indicates that far form potentially being educational tools, you are far more likely to remember something you read on paper than on a screen. I write novels and most of my research is done using books. If I use Wiki or similar, I have to write stuff down or print it out to remember it.

The 555 only serves to attack it modulating by square wave signal using varactor effect in B-E Junction in order to expand the spectrum. This RF oscillator works close to IF frequency.

    Your schematic is incorrect; the schematic shows R3 and R5 between VCC and GND without a connection "dot" to the base of Q1 and cathode of C1. However the PCB layout mask clearly shows those points connected! This would certainly be an issue for anyone breadboarding or perfboarding this circuit without your PCB layout.

      @Tinker_Nerd 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can buy a blank PCB on amazon/ebay/etc, and there are multiple ways to make it into a PCB. The fastest is a laser engraver, but it's not always perfect and may need some touching up after. Next fastest, and in my opinion the best, is using a cnc milling machine. Then there's chemical etching, which is the old-school way, but it takes a while to make a custom PCB. If none of those options are feasible, you can buy a dremel tool and dremel tool station for not THAT much money and do it by hand. This has the added benefit of the dremel and tool station being useful for many other things, but the result may not look as nice

    How "555" works with signals more than 10MHz ?

    • @tefatronix
      @tefatronix 6 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      the 555 doesn't create the UHF signal itself, the transistor forms an oscillator together with L1, L2, C4, C5 and other parts, the 555 timer just "disrupts" that oscillator/constantly moves its frequency around, so the interference caused by this device has a bigger bandwidth.

    Ah. For educational purposes only, it says. And education is good, and also legal, right? e.g. this device is perfectly legal to use. LOL! However I will point out that it is nothing but a very dirty oscillator, not tuned to resonance on any particular cellular band. An output tank circuit of some sort would make it kinda work on one band. For multiband you need multiple oscillators. Also a higher gain antenna would be nice. With a log periodic or a circular yagi at about 20db, you would get some usable range at about 1/4 watt. However you would have to aim the antenna at the target of your educational endeavors. For a good quarter wave vertical antenna, resonant at the desired frequency, you really would want a couple of watts output at least. A proper FM signal with some modulation would be the bee's knees. Then you would get what is called the capture effect. Otherwise you are simply trying to drown out a fairly strong and efficient signal from the cell towers with a crazy strong bulldozer signal exponentially stronger than the legit signal. You aren't blocking, just drowning. Essentially this device is kind of powerless to do any harm or even have any fun with, and this video is just click bait. Thumb down. Booooooooo.
