    Lyrics:
I called him everything under the sun
Kinda under my breath and when I was done
    Slammed my bedroom door
Did some stompin' around on my bedroom floor
Dad walked in, no knock, no grace
Said if you think I walked in like I own this place
    Boy, it's 'cause I do
And I've got some things I wanna call you too
    You're a son of a momma
    You're a son of a dad
Who will never stop loving you and being there
And giving you everything they have
Someday, you're gonna get it boy, you'll admit it, boy
Just like I did with my old man
You're a son of a momma, a son of a dad who give a damn
He took the keys to my new-used car
Pulled the "long as you're living under my roof" card
I always hated what he called tough love
But now I thank the good Lord above
    I'm a son of a momma
    A son of a dad
Who will never stop loving me and being there
And giving me everything they have
Let me tell you that I get it now, I'll admit it now
Why I am the man I am
I'm the son of a momma, a son of a dad who give a damn
These days keeping it together for forever is a dying breed
Now I know why my broken home buddies call me
    A lucky S.O.B.
    I'm a son of a momma
    A son of a dad
Who will never stop loving me and being there
And giving me everything they have
Let me tell you that I get it now, I'll admit it now
Why I am the way I am
I'm the son of a momma, a son of a dad who give a damn (son of a, son of a)
Yeah, I'm a son of a momma, a son of a dad who give a damn

He sounds so much like Eddy Montgomery from Montgomery Gentry...I love his voice and music. Troy Gentry was an amazing guitar player and assistant singer for Montgomery Gentry. It was so sad when Troy lost his life in a helicopter crash a few years ago ..the same day that Don Williams passed away. But Dillion Carmichael is amazing and cant wait to see him if he comes to the Roanoke area of Virginia.

Needed this song back in 2010. We lost my Daddy that December. Over the years, things went up and down and over time my mother and I lost our connection until the last year or two after I pulled my head out of my ass, started a family and joined the Army. And man.. looking back; I’m thankful for every moment.

Your song is cute. But as a "broken home half sister" I'll never call my brother a lucky SOB. If anything I'm the lucky SOB that didn't have to spend my entire childhood in a broken home. Because my mom was smart enough to get out of a toxic environment and loved herself and me enough to not force us or subject us to such a miserable violent life that we were in at that point. THAT is what luck is. My brother was born like you were, with two parents who loved each other and are together forever, but I would never call that "luck". . . that's called my mom being a smart enough and loving enough and caring enough to find a better situation. She's the lucky one because she actually found somebody after wasting 10 years on somebody that didn't deserve me or her. I'm the lucky one. He's the one who got to come out the right way. I find it extremely offensive and I find it very sad that you have the kind of mind that would consider your friends "broken home buddies" when they're luckier than you are. If their parents were smart enough and loved them enough to get the hell out of it. So your song is cute and clever, but that bridge is messed up. You're not lucky, you just happen to be born the way that it was supposed to be, that it was under the right circumstances, the way that it is intended to be. That doesn't make you lucky, that is normal. Your "broken home buddies" I hope, are bigger than you are, and don't hate you for calling them "broken home buddies" and not your buddies anymore. How horrible that you would even refer to them as a broken home buddy. Do you not think that that would not hurt somebody or offend them. I'm glad I'm a broken home person because I don't know what would have happened if we would have stayed in that situation or that environment. And I'll also tell you that my brother, I guess, is luckier than you are because he's not the kind of person that would call his friends broken home buddies because, he, unlike you, does not lack compassion, empathy or sensitivity and actually loves his friends. I think honestly this song is a little telling on the kind of person you are versus the kind of situation that you're in as you're trying to convey. Talk to your dad like shit and then talk to your friends like shit and.... Clearly talking to anybody from a broken home like shit just because you lack empathy and understanding and compassion to other people's unfortunate situations. How very shallow, petty, and pathetic. This is what happens when musicians don't write honest lyrics. They write crap that they think will sell $$ and tug at the heartstrings of people who don't understand.... And that right there only breeds more people like the writer of this song. Cute song I get why people are liking it but you're going to find out that there's a lot more people out there that come from broken homes, are broken hearted and find it extremely offensive. And not to mention the mothers or fathers out there who put their children through that situation, think of the guilt you're making them feel because they got out of a bad situation when that's a GOOD THING and you're making them feel bad about it! You should be ashamed of yourself. Write from the heart. Don't write to get your dad off or make a bunch of money or break into the music industry...pathetic.
P.S. don't ever insinuate that my mama didn't give a damn ever again.
