The acetate sheet does not behave as gelli plate would, paint sticks to it, dries and does not come off (as demonstrated here). Gelli plate releases every drop of paint, even dry bits if they're activated with fresh paint.
Hi Nena! Definitely true for me unfortunately. But I have heard from other artists that they enjoy using acetate this way. They must be doing something differently! But it won't ever be like a gelli plate, you are certainly right about that!
@@jclosestudio maybe they use very slow drying paints, like Golden Open, or add retarder? If You do not have a gelli plate big enough, use the one You have twice, "printing" side by side.
@@nenatirkkonen1659 Possibly. Nothing can beat a gelli plate. I could try that. I've used my small gelli plate on a very large sheet before, but it looked quite fragmented. But here it might not be too bad.
Why is protecting an area holding you back? Can’t you keep the areas you like? Thank you for all that you share. I have incorporated several things from your videos in my practice.
Hi Denise! You can definitely keep the areas that you like. But sometimes they don't work with the rest of your painting, and you are trying to make your painting work around that. Whereas if you get rid of that one bit the painting can go into a new (probably better) direction. Hope this helps!
Wow! All of those marks transformed them. Thats about where i a stuck and dont know what to do next. Thank you
Really hope this helps you, Diane!
This looks brilliant, I am loving abstract art at the moment ☺☺
Ohh I can feel exciting developments coming 😄
I like using acetate with watercolor and inks to mono print. I love seeing your experiments! Your videos inspire me to go and paint!!
Thank you! Maybe I should give it another go.
Interesting experiments! I loved the end results. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Christie!
Fabulous!❤ I’m wondering if you put something with some give on your desk, like a blanket, if the acetate would transfer better?
Interesting idea! Will need to try

Thanks so much! I also thought maybe retarder could help. Might have to give it another go. Thanks for your tips!

@@jclosestudio I get it. Even tho you liked them, they kind of blocked your forward progress. Thank you.
Stephen king talks about this in writing. He said you have to kill your darlings. Scary writer guy!
@@denisecope Exactly!
I’m curious, do you clean the grayer after or let paint build up?
Hey Beatriz! These days I just let it build up and peel off once there is a thick layer. So satisfying!
