    I'm on my 3rd day of jogging. I can only jog a half of mile right now and I have to brisk walk the rest of the 30 Mins. I'm over 400lbs btw. FOR NOW! 3rd day of my vegan diet too. This video is very inspiring. Thank you for it.

    Was 305 last October, down to 240 this October. The NUMBER ONE thing I tell big guys like me is DON'T SKIP REST DAYS. Your body needs the time to build and repair the muscle fibers that are damaged with something like running. 3 Days a week is fine. Skip a day or 2 if you need it to get your body back to where it can push the next run. Keep setting your goals in small increments and hit them every week. You guys got this!

    Most people ignore small progress and want to start running or sprints immediately but this is not how it works.
    If you start walking for an hour or two daily, your body will tell you that it's ready for jogging or running.

    Good on you! Getting started is often the hardest part. I was 145 kg and I’m down to 132 kg with daily walking and healthy plant based diet. I’m wanting to start jogging but I worried about doing an injury because of the pressure on my joints etc. But you have inspired me to start small and do a little jogging each time I go walking. One day we might both be doing a marathon. Everything that’s worthwhile is difficult but it’s worth it.

    To warm up my joints ,I usually hit the weights after the main stretch and warm up, to oil my joints and wake the muscles for the forthcoming run.
    To prevent " Chafing " around my inner thigh region, a cheap and quick alternative is.
    1. APPLY Johnsons baby oil around " Chafe" prone areas then apply generous amount of Talcum powder.

    Fro, I truly envy you, you are trying to run at ur weight an is dangerous. But it seems like you are on a great path to running. Just remember please, never ever quit. I find that the hardest thing about trying to w/o is GETTING STARTED. Just keep pushing URSELF forward. I am in ur situation right now, I just have about 15% more to do to finish my boxing gym, BUY I KEEP FINDING EXCUSES NOT TO FINISH IT??? Along with ur w/o, you also need a very good diet, but allow a cheat day. I know you have to crawl, before you walk, then slowly begin to jog, then running. Best of luck and God Bless you… stay strong, if anything you are giving me my motivation to finish my gym an start my w/o’s. Thank you, Russ, central NJ

    Running for distance is a good one because terrain changes all the time. You won't be able to do the same amount of running on a slanted road/ grass/ gravel than you would on flat concrete. If you run outside, go for distance. I have a marker on my usual route for when I start running. Then I mark where I stop and try to beat it the next time.

    This is great! I’ve been obese for over 10 years and always went back and forth with losing weight and gaining it back. It’s extremely difficult to run when you are big. At my heaviest I was nearly 320 pounds and I’m only 5’5 so it’s a lot of stress on my legs. I’m now down to the upper 250’s but my goal is 165. I’ve gone through several injuries and illnesses. Before the corona virus hit, I was averaging about 11-12 minutes a mile. That was late January then got bronchitis the first few days of February. It took all of the stamina I had built up and it was tough. I’ve been able to build some of that back up since all I can do is exercise. Today I ran 2 miles in under 24 minutes which is great. I’ve averaged about 3.4 miles for the for the last few weeks (I take the average based on the days I run 5-6x weekly), so it has helped me with my shorter runs which I save for the weekends. I have found that green smoothies have helped with keeping my stamina (kale, green apples, broccoli, spinach, mangos, strawberries, chia seeds). I drink one about 30 minute before my run. Anyways keep it up dude. There will be days where it will suck but the small gains will feel awesome and will serve as motivation. We got this 💪🏽

    • @jennygibbons1258
      @jennygibbons1258 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Slow stretch doing back and hip stretches before, during and after walking first then building up to gentle jog/walk/stretch/walk/stretch/gentle jog. Start with a few minutes - whatever your personal pain/energy threshold is - and add 5 mins next time. Stretch and move back and hips often even when not running. Be patient - Patient regular movement more important than speed or distance. It’s taken me years to get unfit and back to fitness isn’t gonna be quick either. But if I don’t learn to move it ain’t never going to improve. All the best - I too know that pain...ugh! 😟

    i think jump roping and walking 4 plus miles a day might actually be a better option if your obese and cant really run because you tire out easily

      I definitely jump rope. Instead of running I do a walk/job combo. My jog is very slow but as I keep moving I’m able to naturally pick up speed. It’s not super fast but it really helps with my endurance.
