I would say the biggest contributing factor for Sasaki to sign with the Dodgers, is having Yamamoto and Ohtani already on the team. The cultural transition will be much smoother.
I'm a Chiba Lotte fan living in Japan. Aki Sasaki's ability is, of course, top class in Japan, so there are no complaints. However, although he has been with Lotte for five years, he has not been in the rotation for a year due to injuries and lack of condition. And I'm selfish. Currently, Lotte has Gregory Polanco, and he said that he asks me about MLB almost every day. And today, he went to the second team again due to lack of condition. Yamamoto is physically strong.
I hear that teams in thr NPB dont post players until they have made good contributions to the team. Do you think he wont get posted for this reason as he is not as accomplished compared to Shohei or Yama?
Starting pitching is ALWAYS a need. If you can get one of the best pitching “prospects” on the planet for relatively cheap, who reportedly wants to be in LA, you do it and let the rotation fall into place later. Sheehan won’t be ready to pitch till later in the year, if at all. I see May as a potential high leverage bullpen piece. Stone, Gonsolin and Knack could all be trade pieces. Buehler is likely going to want (he’s earned it)a multi year deal. I’m not sure if the Dodgers are ready to give him 4-6 years. Why not go six man rotation? Glasnow Yamamoto Sasaki Ohtani Miller Kershaw
@SilverBored20 The team is going to have offensive ebbs and flows throughout a season. Every team does. The Rangers and Diamondbacks were both in 3rd place in their Divisions at the All-Star break last season with all kinds of issues and ended up in the World Series. If you can stockpile elite pitching talent, you do it. Once they decide which pitchers don’t fit in with their long term plans they can flip them for established sluggers or bat prospects.
That would a be a deadly arsenal with Yamamoto, Otani, Kershaw, roki, miller, and Glasgow. right there you have one of the best dodgers prosect in bobby miller, Glasgow a top SP that can go deep into innings and if healthy one of the best pitchers in baseball. Yamamoto a very good pitcher from this off season and he has showed his brightness in the bigs with his elite stuff. Otani a very good pitcher as well, he was top 5 cy young candidate in the AL when he was with the angels. The if Roki comes to the starting pen in his prime, would be such a deathly pitcher with a fastball that can top at 103 and other pitches he can throw. Roki would be a great addition to it and then we have more starters hurt like may, Tony, Emmet, Hurt, and Kershaw. We have another starting rotation right there. Plus we also got to have some of our prospects come up to make there debut as well. With that rotation with Kershaw, Roki, Otani, Miller, Yamamoto and Glasgow. How would you ever start that rotation???? love you guys and keep up the great work Dodger Blue.
I would say the Dodgers are the front runner. Yu Darvish is going to have to do a lot of convincing. Sasaki is seeing first hand what kind of organization the Dodgers are, the fanbase, et cetera.
Daniel is spot on: You can never have enough starting pitching. The negotiations will be funny because of how relatively small the dollar amount will be for a frontline starter.
Dodgers spent a Billion dollars 💸 💵 on Ohtani and Yamamoto to create a team culture that would be welcoming to future Japanese stars 🌟 so I think that gives them a slight tactical advantage for signing Roki Sasaki!
Getting sasaki would be great, but this roster is in dire need of contact bats for an inconsistent and monotone lineup that is overstocked with swing and miss launch angle dinosaurs.
You would be able to get those bats much easier if you now had Sasaki because he's cheap (3-5m signing bonus +yearly $800k salary). Because then you could trade some of your depth (starting pitchers) for contact bats.
Please DO NOT sign up this guy. He is literally like DeGrom, sure he can pitch but he is also extremely fragile "despite his age" and this is not going to get any better as he gets older. I don't care how good a pitcher is if he can't stay on the mound whats the point?
I think every team in the MLB would take a flyer on a 22 yr old pitcher "literally like DeGrom," especially for at the cost of a rookie contract. And as far as being "fragile," other than an oblique injury last season, there's nothing to suggest anything of the kind.
@@gontaro666 I'm not just referring to season ending injuries here. He only managed 20 games/season just once in the last 3 years and as for this year, once again he is down again and its only May still
He's 22. Lotte is just practicing load management. I'm not concerned at all with his durability because there's no history of arm problems. That said, the juice is definitely worth the relatively minor squeeze here. If they're going to flinch at the cost of a minor league deal for the best prospect in baseball, then there are bigger issues with the team.
@@gontaro666 Nope, you need to look deeper than just the hype stuff. Dodgers also need length from starters, not just few innings. The most this guy managed is 129 innings for 1 season, rest are all below 100. In contrast, Yamamoto was "min 126+" (best was 193) for 5 straight years
@@Iolo3 Well, if you want to do that, then let's take a deeper look at the numbers. Yamamoto pitched just over 409 innings (both major/minor) during his age 18-21 seasons. Sasaki threw for 303 innings during age 19-21 seasons (all major). So at the same stages of their careers, they both averaged about 100 innings per. Coming into their age 22 seasons, Yamamoto had 2 seasons of 120+ IP and Sasaki 1. If you want to make an argument that Yamamoto's been durable (or lucky), then I'm in agreement, but to say that Sasaki is an overhyped, injury prone pitcher would be rather inaccurate in my opinion. Will Sasaki get hurt? Probably, but so will every other pitcher in the league. I'd bet that the Dodgers and every other team in the MLB would take the low cost risk of a rookie deal for someone of Sasaki's skill set.
No you wouldn't. Max Fried would cost $25-30m a year. Roki Sasaki would cost $5m signing bonus + he would make $800k a year. Even if they wanted Fried, Sasaki would not get in the way of signing Fried because he's so cheap. You're basically signing a #1 pick in the draft who has got all the development already done for you, except about as cheap as the #12 pick in the draft. Trust me, you would sign that in a heartbeat.

Glasnow
Yamamoto
Sasaki
Ohtani
Miller
Kershaw
I think that the Dodgers should consider holding 🤔 onto Landon Knack!!!
Agreed....although I would seriously consider keep Knack or maybe even Stone. The only thing is I would prefer having another LHP.

The jury is still out on miller. He has a million dollar arm but being able to keep his head in high leverage situations, he is a few bucks short.

@@solenstyle Just be careful about trading pitching. The team thought they had enough this year, and that depth has been tested since week one.
I would be excited if Sasaki plays in MLB, but he might rather choose Yankees, Mariners, or sometimes the Giants or Dodgers
I hope fans and the Dodgers organization will start calling them the "Three Samurai" lots of merch opportunity there
We AZN are taking over the MLB lol the AZN Invasion
Of the Dodgers lose 10 straight games 🎮 they should at least Fire 🔥 the hitting coach!!
