A couple things to keep in mind when shooting video of RC plane flight: No.1 always keep the camera on the subject. No.2 if a crash occurs, always present video of the aftermath whenever possible. 😉
Yep . Just did that this past Saturday with my E-Flite SU-30 jet . A 4 ft steel rod planted at the edge of the parking lot, with a cord running thru it . It was the only one outta 10 of them still standing. I knew it was there . Even went opposite end of the lot to get away from it . On take off , flew right into it . Clipped the left wing , roped it , then body slammed it. $205 dollars later , we’re gonna try for that maiden again . Wish me luck .
Flew it today , it was golden ! Replaced left wing panel , repaired right rudder , landing gear door , fuse . And pulled that damn rod , along with another , outta the ground. Only to miss another by 5 inches on second take off 🤪😳⚠️

I ran it at quarter speed and heard a soft impact while at elevated lamp hight. The sort of sound you might hear from a wire. Alternatively the undercarriage locking down. Don't know if that would require a significant amount of engine power.

This is the sort of flying that gets all of us involved in model aviation (control line flier myself) in trouble. Flagrant disregard for basic safety. Low level passes over the road, buzzing past light poles, flying so low for dramatic effect that the plane is destroyed by a simple sign no taller than a man. This sort of thing, strongly lead by idiots with drones who cannot seem to resist the temptation to do stupid stuff, are why we are all being lumped together by the FAA and TSA as a potential threat to public safety. So far , those of us who fly control line models have a conditional exemption from size/weight limits and registration requirements. Our models that we often spend months, or years with scale models, painstakingly building and crafting cannot go anywhere beyond the limits of the lines attached to them. Yet we are still scrutinized as a possible source of danger all because RC guys who drop a couple hundred on a pre made foamie can’t restrain their behavior.
Had a good flight of the P-38. Too bad the landing didn't end well. Hopefully the master fixer, Michael Gardner, will be able to get it back in the air.

Als ich im Video die Laternenpfähle sah, wusste ich schon so in etwa, was passieren wird.
How can you fly a nice RC plane in an area which is cluttered with light masts, sign boards and what not? Look in the mirror and ask yourself "how stupid can I be?"
