    I love Papa thirty-eights! My uncle flew one in the Pacific theater and then in Europe in WWII. HE WAS MY HERO AND THE INSPIRATION FOR ME WANTING TO BE A FIGHTER PILOT. I was able to live my dream as an F4 Phantom II Pilot in Vietnam. I was a Marine Corps Naval Aviator and flew with VMFA542 and VMFA323 in 66, 67, and 68 out of DaNang and Chulai. God bless you uncle Leo, I hope you’re flying unlimited missions with unlimited ammo and fuel!!!

    Beautiful flight. My father's favorite plane. He worked for Lockheed, Burbank before the war on P-38s. I read a story on them that the RAF bought some, didn't want the counter rotating props. With the same rotation props it became a hand full. USAAF took them back, installed the counter rotation engines and props and put them into combat.

    I grow up watching the P-38's fligh over in the 60's and 70's. I think I still saw a few into the mid 1980's. Always loved seeing them. I think the air base in Sioux Falls was one of the last to fligh them.

    Gorgeous plane, my favorite WWII fighter. Any reason you made the counter rotation opposite of the full scale plane? My guess is that it gives you a critical engine advantage if you have an engine out situation to make it more controllable. Flies very well and it is beautiful in the air as well as on the ground. Congrats on those initial flights, hope it's still doing well 7 years later.

    Beautiful model and nicely synched engines sound brilliant. I am surprised that, on a test flight, no attempt was made to confirm stall characteristics or stall speed.

    • @n1114v
      @n1114v  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Ted..... no need to check for stall, I flown many P38's and this one is by far the nicest. On the first flight I like to keep it easy and short so I can check for anything that may have come loose
