    Great build. I bought your plans and built one myself. Very expensive in the UK to use the same wood that you do, so I looked around for an alternative. I built mine out of radiata pine thermowood which retains the lightness and the thermowood treatment improves the durability. Win win with resistance to decay, no chemicals, light weight and low priced. Thanks again for your plans and help.

    When you slid the foot-rest out at the beginning of the video, my jaw dropped and a satisfied smile crept across my face. That is a very cool design!

      Adirondack chairs are really the pinnacle of "sittin on the deck relaxing" chair design, and adding a footrest like this one takes that already comfy recline to the next level. The fact that these are stowable are even better.

    Absolutely loved the router upside down in vice trick. I have been planning to make a router table for over a year and have projects pending that **couldn't be done** without a table. Well now they can be.

    Thank you Mr. The Jackman, Just purchased your templates. I am just getting started into woodworking, I have just recently built a pretty sweet sectional sofa for our patio with a "coffee/beer" table. I enjoyed it so much I might make this a new hobby, love making and building things, but most of my stuff has always been in electronics. I plan on making 4-6 of these chairs for the fire pit. Great video editing by the way! Keep your videos going! Much love from South Carolina.

    I just bought your plans for these and I am super stoked to start these chairs. Unfortunately cedar is hard to come by now and if you do find it people are price gouging so I’m doing this with pressure treated because oddly enough it’s cheaper than some common pine boards in my neck of the woods. Once cedar comes down I’ll replace the ones pressure treated ones. Thank you again!

      Carson O'Keeffe
      I can tell you that I live in central Ohio and finding Clear End Grain Western Red Cedar is not easy here. One of the only lumber yards that would order it for me wants $10.10 per lineal foot. That’s over $300 per chair just for the wood. Yikes, I still might make them if I can find a better price.

    • @JackmanWorks
      @JackmanWorks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@MrCarnutbill67 the materials (including wood, finish, and hardware) when using clear WRC around me is about $250. There are definitely cheaper alternatives of wood, STK cedar is still good (you just have to avoid any larger knots when you lay out the pieces), Cypress is great, White oak, and even pine has longevity longer then most hardwoods. Just make sure you seal up the bottom of the feet really good because that's what's most susceptible to rot.

    • @yatesmachine1234
      @yatesmachine1234 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JackmanWorks Thanks, I was digging through the comments hoping for alternative material suggestions and I lucked out getting it from the man himself! I'll be buying the physical template as I'll be making at least 6, if not 8-10 of these to go around our new fire pit and decks.

    • @Samlol23_drrich
      @Samlol23_drrich 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can I ask you a question- something I’m unclear about, cause I’m in the process of building these now: if I’m doing chairs with footrests, are all of the carriage bolts 2 inch rather than 2.5? Looks like all the 2.5” get replaced by countersunk 2”. Thanks.

  • @BrianHw1
    @BrianHw1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    These are fantastic plans and great chairs, well worth the money. Thank you for making such easy to follow, detailed plans.
    I just paid $15 for some plans from another guy and there was no step by step instructions, no printout for the pieces, etc. Just pictures of the chair from different angles and the pieces laid out on the grid for you to draw out yourself. Then, he wants you to pay $20 to have the template mailed out to you.
    Also, I bought these plans from Jackman Works a few years ago and when he updates the plans, he automatically sends me those updates. I can't say enough good things about these chairs!

    Looks great! Couldn’t see this already answered earlier but wondering if the plans come in metric as well as imperial? Cheers

    I laughed myself stupid when you were pulling that thing across the table saw. All I could do was laugh and say "what an asshole!" Great video and an awesome project.

      @@ptaylor4923 Yeah...I was thinking, this is a guy I could hang out with, but I would often be either laughing, rolling my eyes, or punching him in the chest or arm for being the "obnoxious friend".

    Your work is great as usual - question about spraying the Total Boat Finish - what tip size do you use? - I want to try this (I have your plans and just finished the templates)

    One word Paul, wow! That finish is really nice. I'd like to see somebody make one from broken skateboards... Lol. 🇬🇧

    What volume of varnish did you go through to put five coats on each chair? Thanks and great video.

    Hello! I just bought your wonderful plans and LOVE the video you made (also a subscriber now with notifications!!). I was wondering if there was a way to raise the height of the Adirondack legs to make the chair higher-sitting. Is that possible?
