My wife and I are frequently fly KLM from Houston to Amsterdam. They usually have the 787 10 which we enjoy. But we also like the 777. Even though it is dated, the cabin also appears more spacious. Although I can understand why single travelers may not the 2-2-2 layout. We find KLM service to be consistently good, and regardless of the aircraft.
I have followed many of your videos and they always amaze me, I spent 30 years plus in the aviation industry airside and even though I no longer work within the industry still love it.
GE90 engine. I can definitely hear the difference in sound on the 777 engines; the RR sound is more muffled, PW is a lower pitch. Love the sound of the engines.
Nicely filmed. Glad you weren't too critical of the 777-2 business product. Business class continuously evolves and, apart from the slight inconvenience of stepping over a neighbour to reach the aisle if you are in a window seat, the service and comfort cannot really be contrasted with that on a more modern product. The inconvenience is just a 1st World problem :) I'm not a jet engine fanatic but I do have more than a passing interest in them. The engines on KLM's 777-200s are GE90-94B. And, yes, I admit to having to look that up. :)
It sure sounds like the Boeing 777-200 that has taken me at AA: GE-90 power! Makes the hairs on your neck stand-up on takeoff! Awesome video, and keep up the good work!
Great video! Nice to see that KLM offers a solid Produkt. As a long-term partner of GE, they of course use GE90s on the 777-200. Their sound really IS special.
The Boeing 777 has two GE90-115B engines which are claimed to be the worlds most powerful jet engines. The use of carbon fiber composite for fan blades and a revolutionary new material called ceramic matrix composite in some of the engine’s parts is claimed to improve maintenance timing, dependability and to make the engine operate more quietly.
GE90 engine. I don’t get the fuzz about the “old, outdated” interior. I have flown the KLM 777 (200+300) numerous times in BC, including very long haul, 13 hour AMS-SIN at least 15 times. Lately I’ve flown the 787 in BC to Miami 3 times. When your traveling with your wife, as I am, the 777 is the better choice, imo.
Hi Gabriel, the 777 has the GE 90s I also like the Trent 1,000s. I'm also old enough to remember the Pratt and Whitney JT9Ds on the -200 747s and others. Thanks for the great content and the opportunity to go from trial to Gold with FR24!
Engines are GE-90s, the engine growl is very recognizable. To be fair, the 777 is definitely one of my favorites, so I feel lucky you asked about that beauty!
Congratulations @Luke Olender you've won the Gold membership giveaway! Send us a message: gabriel -at- fr24.com or on Instagram @gabeleigh so we can get you set up.
GE90(-94B); love the positive attitude towards this flight and others. I thought the arriving gate shots at Schiphol were very pretty, capturing the magic of arriving at a prominent international hub.
Definitely had to look up the GE90s But I actually really prefer the old KLM product. I don't know why but it's the most comfortable seat in the sky and sleep great in it
The 777-200 could have any of a series of General Electric 90 engines depending on the manufacture date. Early production models had GE90-77B or GE90-94B. Later manufactured aircraft were reported to have GE90-110B1 or GE90-115B engines. Without the tail number, it’s more difficult to determine, but the GE90 engines have that distinct buzzing growl. The last basic 777-200 was delivered in 2007.
Nice vid, I recon the engines of this plane are from the General Electric 90 series. Still in the Guiness Book of Records for most powerful jet engines to date.
Great video, as always! KLM uses the GE90 engines of General Electric for their 777-200s. That start-up sound and engine buzz while take-off is so recognisable.
Once again a great video Gabe! The sound of the engines cannot be anything else than those great GE90's ;) Only had to cheat to look up the variant, which I believe is the -94B
I'm from the netherlands and recognize the sound of these engines, as already mentioned in otter comments, as the general electricts. Have fun at Schiphol Amsterdam.
Great vlog as always! They have the GE and it sounds like a very low note on a piano. The RR has a more whining sound. Yes, music is another hobbie I have. Keep up the good work!
AirNZ only has 2 777's down here in New Zealand at the moment & are bring another 1 of 3 back from the Mojave desert this month, so had to look the engine up. The GE90 certainly has a unique sound, wouldn't say comforting though.......
GE90-94B engines. Yes, these sound a distinct from PW4000s on united 777-200 domestic subfleet. Love flying these big planes in any configuration though
KLM B772s use General Electric GE90 engines. It has more of a pronounced high-pitch whine on spool-up whereas you hear more of the buzzsaw-like growl of the PW4000 and Trent 800s on spool-up.
Great video. I had the opportunity of flying on KLM from JFK-AMS one time. We got the 2 seats in the rear of the plane. Highly uncomfortable and don't recommend them. Anyways, the service was great. KLM uses the GE90 engines.
Those are the classic GE90 engines! Sometime I have also felt them when the engines cross their critical speed! Thanks for a nice video. Did you also pick up the nice Delft pottery houses they distribute at the end of the flight?
The 777 is fitted with GE90-94B engines. I may have serviced that very plane when I worked for KLM. I flew a Turkish 777-300ER once from Istanbul to Seoul but could barely hear the engine sound as I was up front in business class. Overall the Turkish business class seemed one step above KLMs
I knew they were GE engines on the KLM 777s, looking at the comments lended me the specific model of GE90. Sad to see the Alaska series come to a close. I hope you do it again soon, maybe hoping around Southeast Alaska on a PC-12 with Alaska Seaplanes could be a good next adventure!
Sure the video was fine but I love your t-shirt! (Seen in the mirror in the lav scene. I immediately looked for it online but I guess it has sold through its run unfortunately...
GE90 sounding all powerful. Funniest moment of this video: 5:58 "The morning view offers lovely views as we get closer to Holland." I know my home country pretty well, even though I have moved away in the 1990's. I am guessing this shot is somewhere over Iceland or Scotland because it sure is not anywhere near "close to Holland" ;-)
First, I actually thought all the food looked good but I am not a food fanatic. I am an airplane, or anything that flys, fanatic but not an engine fanatic! I feel the A & P airplane technicians will be the ones who might score the highest here. Anyway, the engines where GE90-94B made by General Electric. BTW, coincidentally GE started building turbine engines in Schenectady NY (albeit Steam turbine engines) 22 miles away from where I live in Saratoga Springs NY. Also, I mentioned this before, I was born in Amsterdam NY. Also not far away from where I live now.
This is why Fridays are the best day of the week!
GE-90! It's an unmistakable sounds for an avgeek! I knew right away!
That's the beautiful GE90-94B sound!
Oh man, the growl of the GE90 engines are awesome! I would love to fly on a 777 some day!
I’ve learned a lot about these GE 90 engines after looking around online. They definitely have a distinct sound. This looks like a fabulous flight!
The ge90-76-77 variants seem to siund a bit different from ge90-115
That takeoff with the GE90s sounded wonderful. Gotta love the 777-200!
GE90's, gotta love that sound, especially during start-up!!!
Those loud engines sounded like the GE90-94B love them and the sound they make!
Agreed! Thanks for the comment.
You are right Gabriel
about a happy crew = a happy flight, above everything else. I should make the GE90 my ringtone on my phone!
Hehe great idea!
Love the GE90 sound - could tell by the sound but looked it up just to be safe!
Those GE-90s sound incredible!
Love the sound of those GE-90 engines
I have followed many of your videos and they always amaze me, I spent 30 years plus in the aviation industry airside and even though I no longer work within the industry still love it.
Thank you!
That sound is incredible. Had to look it up - GE90.
GE90-94B engines! Love to see my new employer featured on your channel. Just saw this bird in the hangar recently!
thank the lord for this great adventure
GE-90's! Love that growl!
GE90 engine. I can definitely hear the difference in sound on the 777 engines; the RR sound is more muffled, PW is a lower pitch. Love the sound of the engines.

Unmistakeable GE90 growl!
It sure sounds like the Boeing 777-200 that has taken me at AA: GE-90 power! Makes the hairs on your neck stand-up on takeoff! Awesome video, and keep up the good work!
Excellent video as ever, and those engines are of course GE-90s!
GE 90-94B engines
I really enjoy listening to the engines on takeoff. One of the coolest sounds in my opinion.
Yes. Those GE-90's have that signature whirl sound when applying take-off power., used on KLM B777-200ER.
That's a GE-90 for sure, I could tell by the sound it is unmistakable
Great video! I personally love 777-200 but never tried with KLM, not bad.
Great video! Nice to see that KLM offers a solid Produkt. As a long-term partner of GE, they of course use GE90s on the 777-200. Their sound really IS special.

GE90 engines, love the growl
That dinner looked fantastic to me!
Hi Gabriel, the 777 has the GE 90s I also like the Trent 1,000s. I'm also old enough to remember the Pratt and Whitney JT9Ds on the -200 747s and others. Thanks for the great content and the opportunity to go from trial to Gold with FR24!
Really awesome video mate!

@@Flightradar24DotComsadly the 10 abreast config for some is bothering on so e configured 777s.
GE90(-94B); love the positive attitude towards this flight and others. I thought the arriving gate shots at Schiphol were very pretty, capturing the magic of arriving at a prominent international hub.
Thank you! Yes the light was really perfect for that taxi in at AMS.
Favorite is the PW4077, its controversial but cool😍 never been on it but the buzzsaw sound very lovely. And the engine is GE90-94B (:
100% agree
General Electric 90. Great video. Heading back to the UK in a Qatar 777-300ER in October✈
Enjoy!
The 777-200 has the PW4000 engines. What a beauty.
GE-90's on the KLM 777 which are also on Air NZ's 777's although they are retiring the 200's.
It's the fabulous GE90-94B, of course
I love the 787. But every time I fly on an older 777 I find it to be a more classic memory than the 787.
The distinctive sound of the GE90-94B engine, with it's throaty buzz, a bit like the Dutch language, actually.
Definitely had to look up the GE90s
But I actually really prefer the old KLM product. I don't know why but it's the most comfortable seat in the sky and sleep great in it
The KLM 777 uses the GE90 engines. Loved the video!
GE-90 engine.
And I had to look it up. But when I found it, I was like. Ooh, I should have known that!
The 777-200 could have any of a series of General Electric 90 engines depending on the manufacture date. Early production models had GE90-77B or GE90-94B. Which airline?

GE90 engines, great sound!
Thanks for a great video as always. I'm not a jet engine fanatic, but those GE90 engines (GE90-94B?) sound pretty distinctive.
The beautiful Ge90s!
GE90s, from general knowledge basically but also by the mighty roar :)
Once again a great video Gabe! The sound of the engines cannot be anything else than those great GE90's ;) Only had to cheat to look up the variant, which I believe is the -94B
Thanks! And yes indeed, the -94B. Very few out there who'd know that without looking it up!
Love the sound of a GE90 at full power
I'm from the netherlands and recognize the sound of these engines, as already mentioned in otter comments, as the general electricts.
Have fun at Schiphol Amsterdam.
GE90. Size and noise is a clear way to tell.
Nice video; the engines for KLM 777-200ER planes are the GE20-94B.
GE90-94B engines. Yes, these sound a distinct from PW4000s on united 777-200 domestic subfleet. Love flying these big planes in any configuration though
Those are GE 90-94B's with 94,000lbs of thrust each! I love hearing a 757 with Rolls Royce RB211's buzzing down the runway.
The RB211 sound is great!
Nice Video....GE90-115B Turbofan
KLM B772s use General Electric GE90 engines. It has more of a pronounced high-pitch whine on spool-up whereas you hear more of the buzzsaw-like growl of the PW4000 and Trent 800s on spool-up.
GE90 for this beauty
Had to look up these GE90 engines just to make sure they're different from the RR engines on the 777-200 I flew back in a day
Great video. I had the opportunity of flying on KLM from JFK-AMS one time. We got the 2 seats in the rear of the plane. Highly uncomfortable and don't recommend them. Anyways, the service was great. KLM uses the GE90 engines.
A particular sound of a GE90 engine!
GE 90, they sound amazing
nice review, but KLM should improve very fast it BC!!!
GE90 so nice engine and huge
Those are the classic GE90 engines! Sometime I have also felt them when the engines cross their critical speed! Thanks for a nice video. Did you also pick up the nice Delft pottery houses they distribute at the end of the flight?
Yes! Collection has grown to five houses. Have to find a way to get them all!
Great vid. Engine is GE90-94B
Klm is favoriite arilans in Europe.Good job
Nice video, By the way that was a General Electric GE90.
KLM uses GE90 on their Triple 7 . Only ten days until my trip on one of these blue beauties to SIN and DPS 🙂
Nice, have a great flight!
General Electric GE90 powerplants just by the sound I also know they have the Pratt and Whitney and Rolls Royce Trent variants great sound on takeoff
GE90-94B, for sure!
General Electric engines on 777 - it is also on the new 777X - I didn't cheat but I work with Boeing for 15 years
Great video. These are the GE90 engines. Sounds pretty loud for 8 hours from that seat.
They get a lot quieter during cruise!
Love Flightradar, esp the cabin reviews, helps me greatly with my airline choice for holidays. By the way the 777 engines are General Electric 90-115B
Can't be the GE90-115. Those are fitted on their -300ERs.
Close. It's the -94B. As Lindelani says, the -115s are on -300ERs.
Yes, need to get back there and do more!
Has to be GE90s on that 772. Can always tell the GE90 “supercharger” whine. Still prefer the RR sound tho 😝
Wow... GE90 telltale sound! Thanks Gabriel, nice gesture.
That's the sound of GE-90s
nice video
GE-90
GE90, best sound 🙂
Ge90. Very distinct.
Ge-90. Just watched one land and take off today at SLC!
Sure the video was fine but I love your t-shirt! (Seen in the mirror in the lav scene. I immediately looked for it online but I guess it has sold through its run unfortunately...
Haha thanks!
Great Video! :D I liked the mighty GE90 Engines!
GE90 sounding all powerful. Funniest moment of this video: 5:58 "The morning view offers lovely views as we get closer to Holland." Note that I said "closer" not "close" hehe. Scotland is closer to Holland than Salt Lake is!
GE90 of course 😃
GE90-94B. I definitely didn't have to Google that 🙃
GE90 engines. Interesting to see that KLM doesnt dim the light for takeoff in darkness.. Other than that, excellent video!
First, I actually thought all the food looked good but I am not a food fanatic. I am an airplane, or anything that flys, fanatic but not an engine fanatic! I believe they are Pratt and Witney
GE90 amazing
