I actually love that royal delft blue china...I think its the perfect china for KLM to use for serving. AMS-SFO was a 747 route for so long, it's a bit sad to see it serviced by the 772 and 789, but even though you got an older aircraft, a lot of the business class experience is in the quality of the crew and it sounds like you were pretty happy with them. And anytime you can fly into SFO and SAN on the same day, it's not a bad gig.
Totally agree David! KLM onboard service is excellent, and it’s a great experience- no matter what the seat is like. And I had no idea what that little house was when they presented me with it. I had to do some research after I got home… 😄

KLM are updating all there business class seats starting from next year 2023. If you booked earlier you probably would of gotten the flight way cheaper . I booked my business class several months early and got my business class including return £2000 . which is $2600 that includes taxes . Business class via klm is pretty damn good even with the older seats compared to the Dreamliner , cabin crew are always amazing.
It was definitely nice to finally be able to give KLM long haul business class a try. And yeah…that house will moser than likely be part of our Christmas decorations this year!
On each new birthday a new house gets added to the total. It is a nice touch as a souvenir and for some travelers it becomes a collectors item to get them all.

this work around deal with KLM Asia was done during the cold war. I don't think this work around is necessary today. Those damn taxes and fees. on a flight from Seoul Incheon to LAX used to be just under 90 dollars when I flew in April of 2022 in Prestige class on Korean Air. but when flew back to LAX a few days ago it was just under 200 bucks this time around.
KLM offers a very good Business Class product which I’ve used and been perfectly happy with, However if you manage to get allocated to their partner airline Air France which I’ve done in the past it’s even better. The price you mentioned seemed very high considering what I pay for long haul but I’m guessing that the Europe-U.S.A. route is hiked up because it’s one of the most lucrative.
Actually, the flight I originally planned on taking was Air France 777-300er business class CDG-SFO - which would have been awesome if I had remembered to book it after I found open award space.🤦🏼♂️ Oh well - maybe next time.

Those seats are also the same as United Polaris on the 767-400 aircraft I flew from Dublin to Newark this time last year (also on their 757s). I agree that the headphones and power outlet location is incredibly annoying!

They definitely are! I flew on a KLM 737-800 in business class from CDG to AMS right before this (just a 45 minute flight) and the service was just as good.

Hows the privacy on these when flying solo? Would it be better to go for one of the center seats to have direct isle access...or are you staring at your neighbour all flight in that case?
When I flew KLM in the summer, I noticed the plane name. It was Busy Lizzie on one side, and Vlijtig Liesje on the other. I was unaware that this was a flower, and having Bluebell for the return trip would continue this theme. And thus, the 787s are named after flowers. The 777s are in two categories, the 300s are national parks, but the 200s are heritage sites. Ferarra City is in northern Italy where many renaissance buildings are located. The 737s are birds, the A330s are famous town squares and when they flew 747s they were named after famous cities. Oh, and even in Economy, KLM is a pretty good flight. Could have had a wider seat, at 17 inches I wound up getting run into on the aisle a little too often to catch any sleep, but service was excellent. I'd fly them again from ORD-AMS-ORD.

Yes those taxes and fees suck. I paid over A$116 in taxes from Melbourne to Sydney. Plus $A$120 for two return Virgin Australia economy X seats. More legroom one bag checked each. No food just a drink. Oh and on return mum got locked in the disabled loo for two hours. The new wave to exit short circuit. Finally the fire brigade got her out with Crow bars in seconds. Told them to call them sooner. They agreed. Drama.
Flying KLM for the first time in June from Chicago to Amsterdam but in cattle class (I doubt it will be that empty in June, but at least we are leaving on the 2nd before the main summer surge starts). We were supposed to be on the 777-200 but it is has now been switched to the 787-10, and I am hoping they have a great upgrade deal to Business Class so I can try the seats, but it would have to be a really great deal since my wife and daughter are also flying with me on that trip.

Agreed. The newer Air France Super Diamond pods on the 777 are much nicer and private. The angle of the pods provide for much wider footwells, which for me are essential on long haul flights from Europe to the West Coast. I can’t sleep at all with my feet squeezed into a tiny box. It did appear on this aircraft that the aisle seat had a larger footwell, but still way too confining. I’ve flown KLM’s 789, which had a version of the Diamond pod, as I remember. It, too, was better than a 2x2x2 configuration - at least for me, as I travel solo.

Yeah, flying out of AMS was really nice. I was a bit worried because of all the chaos that was happening there over the summer, but it was super easy - no issues at all.
We do fly with KLM 2 or 3 times a year in Business Class to different african cities. This only because they have the best and fastes network to Africa from Europe. The service is completly different than to US flights. The food they offer on these flights is disgusting, especially when you fly from Africa to Amsterdam. The general Service is better on every Ryanair flight. Sometimes we think they only send their most grumpiest and most unprofessionell Cabin Crews to Africa. I do not understand why people still like to fly with KLM. So I would never spend any of my hard earned Miles for an KLM flight. I prefer to take them for Air France flights.
I frequently use KLM from Houston to Amsterdam. KLM service and food presentation is always good in business class. I prefer their 787 10 seat configuration, but find the 777 200 ok when traveling with my wife. Unfortunately, they having been using their A330’s on the Houston route lately. We now have over 20 delft houses. I stay away from their pre arrival meals.

KLM business is nearly always a winner…..and a good option to the US, especially from Glasgow/Scotland to avoid Heathrow. Great video.
Yeah, flying out of AMS was really nice. I was a bit worried because of all the chaos that was happening there over the summer, but it was super easy - no issues at all.
Doesn't really make sense to back track like that to get to AMS.
We do fly with KLM 2 or 3 times a year in Business Class to different african cities. This only because they have the best and fastes network to Africa from Europe. The service is completly different than to US flights. The food they offer on these flights is disgusting, especially when you fly from Africa to Amsterdam. The general Service is better on every Ryanair flight. Sometimes we think they only send their most grumpiest and most unprofessionell Cabin Crews to Africa. I do not understand why people still like to fly with KLM. So I would never spend any of my hard earned Miles for an KLM flight. I prefer to take them for Air France flights.
I frequently use KLM from Houston to Amsterdam. KLM service and food presentation is always good in business class. I prefer their 787 10 seat configuration, but find the 777 200 ok when traveling with my wife. Unfortunately, they having been using their A330’s on the Houston route lately. We now have over 20 delft houses. I stay away from their pre arrival meals.
