    Congrats Jared on your great achievement!
    It's been a pleasure and journey watching you make your way down the country. I'm sure that the rest of the Class of 2022 are as proud of you as I am.
    You really showed us some of the best that New Zealand has to offer and that nothing could stop you from completing your goal of walking the entire Te Araroa Trail. I really enjoyed our time together at Great Barrier and I'm sure everyone who you met along the way would feel proud of your accomplishments, your determination to succeed and your great attitude towards anything that you do.
    I salute you my friend and I can't wait to hear about your next journey, whether big or small.
    On behalf of the Year 13's of 2022, congrats and may you forever keep succeeding.

      Thanks so much Monty - what an awesome comment! Really appreciated. I enjoyed the time on the Barrier as well and hope we can catch up again one day soon. I'm proud of all your accomplishments as well. I hope everything's going well at the flight school. Thanks again.

    What a great condensed video, I really enjoyed watching that thanks JP. Loved seeing the earlier parts as I had forgotten much of the north island footage. Good job.

      @@onthetrailnz So how do the thousands of pilots afford it? Are all pilots gifted with money? Dont think so, some maybe, others just want to fly. All of that aside, anyone can do anything, you just need to want to, you have proved that.

    How much did it cost you to hike it? Including a rough breakdown maybe? Great video!

    • @onthetrailnz

      I didn't really keep track, but I did it on the cheaper side. The only gear I had to change was my old pack, poles (which went down the Avoca River!) and another pair of shoes. The North Island was definitely more expensive, because of all the holiday parks you're pretty much forced to stay at and the lack of DOC huts.

    To anyone thinking of walking Te Araroa: pay your dues! The trail is maintained by a private charity that has very little money, and your hut fees paid to DoC help to get the toilets emptied and firewood delivered. Don't be a moocher.

    • @onthetrailnz
      @onthetrailnz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Couldn't agree more - really annoying if people don't pay their hut fees - will ultimately ruin it for everyone.

      When they stop poisoning NZ with 1080 and ease restrictions on my dogs and open up complete wild camping locations and stop the government overreach, I will start paying them. Until then they won't get a cent.
