- In the early part of the 20th century racetracks became a battleground for gangs across the country. A Birmingham gang called the Brummagems was top dog and built up a criminal network extending far beyond their city. Over 80 years later Birmingham gangs were an even deadlier proposition and a drive by shooting with a machine gun killing innocent bystanders shocked the nation.

Shropshire is nice depending on what part you're in. Telford is a shit hole.
“Postcode wars are an ongoing problem throughout the UK. Young people are fighting and dying over areas they have no ownership over. The youth need to realise they are not soldiers enlisted by the government to defend and regulate their areas, they are simply residents by circumstance. There is nothing wrong with loving the area you was raised in but it does not mean you have to die for it.”

1 mile away documentary has v short reference regarding the case of those 2 girls who unfortunately pass 🕊🕊
the witness testified - they could identify three gunmen - wearing balaclavas - at night time - in a moving car - with flashes of gunfire
the witness did not even show their face / name in court and spoke through voice distortion
and this was the "evidence" which led to the conviction of the 3 men
It's pretty accurate fella and they're only presenting it because they played the Kray brothers in the original film.

A real gangster will never kill innocent people
Aye man thats great. being a gangster is hurting weak people for money. Its not hulk hogan and the ultimate warrior, ya wee fanny.
Define a real GANGSTER
The burger bar and johnson used to chill together early to mid ninetys. The main reason these had issues was because one burger bar boy was going around robbing shooting. Even then the same guy got youngers to form badda bar. More bodies have dropped from internal beef from both sides. The media hyped it and alot of misinformation
Oohhmy😮🙆
Facts alot of these stories are from a media perspective and not real life
Facts the media just adding alot that didn't even happen just to make a story. Don't believe all that is told to you.
Was there a gang member called Tyson from the Burger Bar Boys?. Were the Burger Bar Boys very friendly with the Sikh gang the SP's?. Soho Road area?.
Bro ain't no body shoot anyone in england were a 22 long rifle is the only guns civilians are allowed to have and they have to go through alot of sht to get it and really I think u got to be in shooting tournaments to be able to have a 22 rifle that's the only way from what I read, even the police don't carry guns unless it's a special law man like what we call swat in america or a Marshal but regular police man or regular city police don't tote guns, u all use knives in england
I used to travel all around England since the early 90ies until recently. Mostly for attending gigs but also for some holidays. Most of the time on my own and I never ran into serious trouble, exploring everything by public transport and by foot. Some cities I loved and others not so much but two of them I will never ever visit again because I felt uneasy the minute I arrived until I left again. One is Brum (and Luton is the other one).
I’m born and bred and there’s some places we don’t go after dark or alone
Completely get that. For 5 years in my old job I used to travel all around England and Wales. There is not a part of either country I haven’t worked and stayed in. Definitely understand why you picked these two. Probably two of the biggest sh!thole areas I’ve ever been in as well
I enjoy watching documentaries on crime and Gangs across the world. People used to tell me how good Peaky Blinders was, not being much for series on TV I shall, after watching this, give it a go and see if it’s worth all the hype I’ve been led to believe. RIP to those who have been caught on crossfire, innocent victims who didn’t deserve to die.

Its a shame. I left Birmingham after graduated from Uni. Most of Birmingham isn't very nice and is not an aspirational place to be. It has a couple of nice areas on the outskirts but overwhelmingly is deprived. I live in the South East now.

70's and early 80's used as an excuse to justify the behaviour shown in this program. Everyone's a victim nonsense. I suspect it has much more to do with greed and non conventional family upbringings. @@yunglockjaw3815

There seems to be a common factor amongst these gangs but I just can’t put my finger on it. 🤔
I think that bloke has wildly under estimated the rate of fire of a MAC-10, he said "over 200 rpm" where, in reality its 1200-1500 rpm.
It is though, as he correctly said, almost impossible to control on full auto, especially in one hand.

Birmingham Alabama.... Oh crap, I hope it is Alabama, and not somewhere else. Apologies all my US friends.
You'd have to break it down to numbers. We have a lot of guns here in the US, so one might well assume that our death toll is higher. Hell, "The First 48" was filmed in Birmingham, Alabama.
Well I know which one came first 🙄

Mmmm I’m beginning to see a common trait between these gangs across the country but I just quite put my finger on it !
I can put my finger precisely on the point that you like to anonymously make snide implications around black people, I can also easily imagine that you'd be far too cowardly to say anything to a black man's face. The gangsters weren't black before the war, they were mainly Irish Catholics, that generations poor outsiders. The gangsters in the north east are white
They are all non-native people.
@daniel_913 yes British criminals first..😅

It has been said many times that it is easier and better to do good for a community rather than trying to run illegal operations. Not sure where it was heard, but, it was many years ago. Maybe put them into building - as there is a global shortage of builders of quality. Pool their resources and work together. Crazy dream, I know, but, prepare for the worst and pray for the best.
Sounds good but unfortunately some communities are not natural builders. Not many go to Lagos to see the high baroque architecture

Harsh but fair, Ash! 😂
The end case...i was at that party that night. Traumatic to say the least...im now learning the way the police convicted the young men. Firstly though justice must be served find it hard to believe these men would not have balaclavs on so how did he know who they were. What if the police got the wrong men? The reporter even said the police were desperate to convict somone. Rodrigo simms was vousin to the party host why would he endanger his family as they were at this party? Just some unanswered question
Isn't that violation of due process to allow the accused to confront the witnesses who give testimony against them ?

Uk never had prohibition?
No
@@Kingopp87 guess organized crime neeed something else to fill their wallets
@nigelmcgiver2275Hi can I get jack Daniels and how much please.
@Phil-D83......I don't know if Birmingham had prohibition or not, but it had the Cadbury family - who were Quakers and essentially banned alcohol or any form of 'entertainment' in the City. In fact, this is the reason why 'organised crime' established itself in Birmingham from the late 1950's and early '1960's. [by the likes of Eddie Fewtrell].
Not sure why this is completely omitted from this documentary - Fewtrell ruled Birmingham with an iron fist [he actually ran the Kray twins out when they tried to muscle in!] It is a reasonably well-known fact that when carmakers such as the Austin-Rover group began opening large factories and subsidiary industries started moving into the Birmingham area there was a huge demand for nightlife, pubs and other forms of entertainment.
People literally had nothing to do or nowhere to go in the evenings and on the weekends - except Quaker and Temperance meetings. Birmingham City Council [strongly influenced by the Cadbury family] came to the rather bizarre conclusion that only lowlife scum would want to drink alcohol and go to bars and clubs - so they granted all the licences to other lowlife scum such as Eddie Fewtrell to operate it.
As a result. Fewtrell [and a number of other 'gangsters'] controlled virtually all of the nightlife in Birmingham. These gangsters quickly stablished their own 'territories' and there were regular fights between gangs if other members strayed into an opposing gang's territory. [quite a few ended up in the Grand Union canal as a result of these altercations].
This situation remained pretty much unchallenged until the 1980's when Birmingham decided it needed to 'spruce itself up'. But to be honest it was too late by then. Birmingham had established a terrible reputation for itself by that time and no manner of elaborate facelifts would ever change that.
