reply to FGN123, the reason the song is faster paced than his recording is that typically, whether it is a marching contest or halftime of a football game, a band has a certain number of minutes to perform their show, so I'm sure that's why they picked it up from the original. The field show with it is awesome. I'm not trying to disrespect your comment, just explain what I know from my own marching band experience. God Bless America!!!

I've got nothing against the Brits. They were able to hold their own against the Germans. You can't deny the fact that France was beaten and that without the USA and USSR attacking Germany at the same time, Germany would have taken the rest of the world. Constant expansion of germany until 1944 proves that.

@MissTeeRee Keep in mind, we didn't hide. It wasn't our war, we had nothing against Germany or Italy. Until the Japanese went against their own advice and attacked us at Pearl Harbor we probably wouldn't have gotten involved in the war, and the other allied forces would have been defeated. Yet an attack by a SEPARATE axis powers rallied the WHOLE COUNTRY against them. And look what we did, liberating France, liberating Italy, AND look what we did to Japan...you really want to call us cowards?

i had to fight in a war in Woodstock, Ontario. I was proud to stand beside three Pittsburgh police officers who were shot dead by a filthy professional informer. I dedicated what i did to those three officers. Maybe what I did made a difference and maybe it didn't but I sure would be ashamed if I did nothing at all. Thank you Lee Greenwood.

8 people aren't "Proud to be an American" or think that "God Bless[ed] the USA" cause they never lived in the region from the Lakes of Minnesota to the hills of Tennessee, or went from Detroit down to Houston. They need to get a life and become Americans!

I couldn't agree more but, by God, there are some people in this world right now that need to be in fear of us. People need to quit asking what they are thinking in the "Arab Street" and start asking what they are thinking in Montana, Dixie and Cincinnati.

I heard Lee Greenwood sing this live in 2002 and it was a hair raising experience...and I know the (very) devout LSU faithful enjoyed it in a similar fashion
