Was nice to see how you broke it down into 4 stages. You see so many other training videos without this step-by-step guide! And you're like 'Ugh'. Can't wait to start trying with my 10 week old staffie.
Hey! First of all, I just want to congradulate you on the great content you make! Yours are the best and most relatable training videos I've seen, wich gives me a lot of hope and focus with my little one! The training with my dog isn't a complete mess! I feel like he trusts me and responds to the tricks I'm teaching him. But I'm having a bit of a problem with him eating his food. Some months ago, when he was still a puppy, he ate like a starving monster lol but, recently, he kinda lost interest in his food. He does eat it, but it takes soooo long, sometimes hours for him to eat the whole portion (I feed him 3 portions a day: morning, afternoon and night). I was wondering if you have any tips to help me get him into a proper eating routine! Again, thanks a lot for all the lessons and keep up the great work!
hey!! thank you so much for such a kind comment! it really means a lot! i would try two things.. first of all, lose the lunch time meal and secondly consider changing the food! he may just be bored of it :)
You are awesome. Just came across your channel and am learning a lot of useful information. So much appreciated. What got me here was a link you posted in Zak George's comments section. ;)
I love your strategies for training. My girl is like such a rock star. You will totally be the top vlogger trainer soon. I am curious, how do you train to go from down to sit. Its not working. Is it just repition or is something more to it (sit down stand video)?
Ah thanks for this comment!! 🤩 I hope you’re right! 😂😅 I find the best way is to make the dog wait in the down.. move your treat to roughly where your dogs head will be when they are in the sit position.. and remember your dogs in the down.. now when you say sit it’s almost like a release out of the down to get the treat! Also go and watch my sit down stand video as it massively focuses on how to transition between the positions!
We are learning this with my 5 months old puppy for 2 months now, but when I say "heel" she still doesn't know what I wants from her unless I do the hand movement.
Hi I would love some help with the heel position, and walking off the lead. Our dog doesn’t follow the treat I don’t really know what I am doing wrong. Thanks
The most probable reason for this is you’re dog doesn’t know how to follow the lure! So you need to make it much easier for the dog if you can! Really slow down the movement of the lure AND make sure your hand/the treat is no more than an inch away from the dogs nose! If you’re hand is too far away or moves to fast away from the dogs nose, the dog won’t believe they can get the treat and will give up! Hope this helps :)
Loving your content mate, absolutely perfect for working my 10week old lab! When you break down the steps like this is the intent to train each one in stages i.e. before moving onto the next, or do you suggest training the whole position at once? Thanks again!
How does this work for the end goal of walking you’re dog on a lead or off the lead , because the dog is sat at the end of the process ? Cracking videos btw!
Ah thanks Tom! It really doesn’t matter that you end the position with a sit.. as soon as you start walking your dog will break the sit, the important thing is that the dog is next to you, right next to your leg! You could teach it without lifting the lure at the end but I quite like that if I am stood still, the dog is in a sit, if I am Changing direction or stopping because there is tension on the lead and I ask for heel.. I’m not going to be stood still for him to get the chance to sit! So to sum up haha the most important thing is when you say heel, your dog needs to do the arc and be by your side, sitting or standing? That’s really up to you :)

Hi thank you for your work. Can I just clarify- when do you start to introduce the word heel? What does the dog need to have securely first?

How early do you start this with a puppy?
Literally like day two! Deffo the first week :) just the luring though
