- Jesus says in John 10:27, "My sheep hear My Voice." Most people think this verse means that God is speaking to us outside of scripture to give us daily direction in our lives. But, "I do not think this verse means what you think it means."

Tears weld up in my eyes when Justin described that we are a love gift from the father to the son, yes study and meditate on the word and you will hear his voice , And love the Lord your God with all your mind and all your heart all your soul and all your strength.

I agree wholeheartedly! I was completely blown away by how the other people could not move those sheep at all, but when they heard their true shepherd, they followed him. Absolutely amazing!
I was taught that we talk to God through prayer and we listen to God through scripture. That has worked well for me.

Bennet, seek FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Also ask God for the Holy Spirit. Keep seeking, keep asking in prayer, do not stop until it happens. Then you will know and be known. Then you will no longer be a part of dead religion.
I have struggled with that myself because of the false teachers that I was following in my small town. The first church I started going to the pastor there wanted me to start leading adult Bible study. He said this way I could pick what I wanted to learn about. I was an infant in His Word. I had no clue that I was following a false teacher and I had just started reading His Word. I thank the Lord for rescuing me from that!!!

Quick story from my cajun father in law who had a cross eyed hound dog . One time the dog started hooping and my fatherin law was on his front porch and saw a rabbit run by and into the cotton field. A minute later here come that old cross eyed hound dog and being cross eyed he failed to see the corn crib and ran full speed smack dab into the corn crib knocking himself out. Well he hollared at his daddy who was in the house thinking the dog might have killed himself , they brought the dog in the house and they where able to wake old clarence the cross eyed hound dog up and when he woke up he went straight out the door into the cotton field just a hooping. My father in law said by that time the rabbit was long gone and probly had time to have a litter before old clarence could find that old rabbit . Clarence came back a day later with no rabbit but safe and sound as usual. Hope this made you laugh a little brother. Be blessed looking forward to more from you bro.

“For my spirit will be with you always.” God gives the Spirit freely and His voice allows us to be closer to Him. We must not be so quick to blaspheme His Spirit and turn Jesus away. Listen to God.
New Eden I don’t see why people think we can’t I mean in the Bible it says so many times, then I heard the voice of the Lord, and then it goes on... I believe that God can do what He wants to get His work done whether it’s audible and everyone can hear it or more of a hallucination type of audible voice and only you hear it that’s out of my mind to understand for what is man that he should be able to know why God does things the way He does?

For God knows the heart of a man and judges according to our hearts and minds, if someone loves money more who’s to say God wouldn’t give them that so they are happy? It’s sad but true. @@JustinPetersMin thank you , if you only knew the journey from word of faith/ signs and wonders/ gold dust/ new wine, teachings I was involved in for years and also the mix with that of seventh day adventist how messed up I was, truly it was hearing a clouds without water teaching that I heard the father's voice for the first time. I'm still growing , not as fast as I would like but I can look back and see how Christ has changed me and still washing me by his word. Ok can't thank you and Kathy enough for the love I see and hear in your gentle voice. By the way my wife and I have two little dogs . I watch a lot of your videos and teachings , truly solid spiritual food. Praying grace and peace for you and yours and for more eyes to be opened like mine was . By the way I use your teachings on youtube to help others too. I give my testimony about how I was entrenched in false teachings and share how God used your ministry to open my eyes , at first I was mad at you , but I couldn't escape the solid teachings from scripture how you taught it was what kept me and I would find myself just weeping and repented and I haven't looked back. If you where screaming and yelling as you taught I would not have listened to you but the gentleness in your voice and I knew you had true passion because your love for God's word and for people like I was really shows. You and Kathy have taken a lot of attacks from others and at one time even myself and for that I personally ask your forgiveness.

Wow, thank you, Justin. It brought me to tears listening to you explain that we are a gift from the Father to the Son, and watching the farmer call his sheep! I was recently told that I do not have enough of the Holy Spirit, and that 'my sheep hear my voice' is why I should expect to hear from God (which I don't). Your ministry is helping me understand the deception I've fallen into as a new Christian. I'm very grateful to you.

Thank you for this video, and for showing the one of the sheep. It had me in tears.
Even in our Baptist church, our pastor says the Lord speaks to him. He said the Lord told him to take our pulpit out, so that people can see how the Lord had gifted him to be able to preach without notes. Keep in mind, he can't quote the Scriptures he's preaching on. Which are few. Just preach without notes. (Isaiah 42:8 always comes to mind.) Church has become a show, greatly theatrical, emotionally manipulative, and about his ability.
It's God's house, and a place to give glory to the Father and Jesus, His Son.
It's so sad, I can barely stand to go any more.
It really sounds like you've already made your mind up about this church. If his preaching is not done for the instruction and edification of the brothers and sisters in the Word of God and to the glory of God, then-dare I say it-it is to fill his ego. Your pastor ought not to seek the praises of man or to bring glory to himself, and if that is his motive for being a pastor, he ought not to be one. If the focus of the sermon is not on the Word of God, it's not effective by any means. A great expository preacher very likely does use notes and preaches from the scripture to the glory of God. I would highly encourage you to leave this church. I'm not one to tell you what to do and that is not my aim; I merely perceive that you are significantly discontented with this pastor.

Oh my goodness, this brought tears to my eyes. Our Father is so good. He knows those who are His and His own respond when He calls them. The work of salvation by Jesus shown through this passage of Scripture in John 10 is way better than "God showed me where to buy a turkey to save time."

Yeah but God does speak to us in a direct sense if we are not living in sin, and have the holy spirit, walking in the spirit. The people don't hear from God aren't listening.

Growing up in an AoG church, I always felt like something was wrong with me that i never “heard” from God how others described it. Like an audible voice with very specific instructions.
“God told me I needed to pray for you” “God told me to give you this” “God laid on my heart to do x, y, z”
I wondered if I wasn’t really saved, or had too weak of faith.
Same goes with me never speaking in tongues. I’d go to church camp and see a good 75% of the other kids falling over, speaking in tongues, etc and always thought something was wrong with me because I never did.
As I grew up I noticed most of those ultra holy kids stop coming to church, “falling away”, etc. combined with a complete ceasing of tongues once we got a conservative, expositional pastor who taught any instance of tongues without someone interpreting it was not genuine made me realize that it was apparently all for show. Weird how as soon as there was accountability, no one felt called to speak gibberish loudly in the middle of service anymore...
This is very real and true to me. I feel the exact same way. My pastor teaches very well and I get a lot of the connections he makes. But at the end of service he starts doing that shakalamacka okolholohomochakal yeah I dunno. Maybe he's overjoyed or something.
I'm not. But I trust God.

That’s sad. I think in the Charismatic Movement there is a pressure to say these things for that reason, but also a desire to make it up for their own glory. Notice the “I” statements.
@Michael Kevin Millet Perhaps I wasn't clear. I am saved. But as a child, the non-biblical displays of "holiness" others would do made me feel "less than".
But, once there was actual accountability in the situation, everyone suddenly stopped. Proving that it was just a facade to show how "spiritual" they were.

Loved the video I grew up with sheep and this is something we could do with ours they come when we call scriptures about sheep mean so much more when you know sheep well.
A few videos back you gave the perfect answer to this question. "You want to hear the voice of GOD, read your bible. You want to hear the audible voice of GOD read it out loud. " That was a wonderful blessing to me, and helped me greatly. Thank you for your teaching.

I believe God does help u in everything ..ur decisions, ur life,even in your grocery shopping..hez very much interested and invested in your life! I know he helps me every moment...I ask God whether to approach someone with gospel, I have asked him to help me with groceries and many other things too

I like this series, recently came back to America from serving in the mission field in East Asia. In meeting with some friends from the distant past I was shocked by some new and (to me) bizarre interpretations of scripture that had come into their lives. I think the one that especially shocked me was an argument for universal healing of all Christian sickness from "by his wounds, we are healed." I'm guessing it's coming out of NAR stuff, I was able to track down some unique scripture verses to presumably originating at Bethel church :/
I'm eager to learn more about what and how scripture is being abused in American church (and church pop culture), to be more prepared for the future. Thanks!
That one in particular is concerning to me as well. “By his wounds we are healed”- yes we were washed clean if our sin thanks to Jesus! It’s always surprising to me that people take some of the things Jesus said so literally and don’t look into context.

Justin is right but, hopefully, "the other video" will be about the Holy Spirit directing us in answering our prayers. God "speaks" to us through His Spirit.
Leon: the holy spirit wrote the bible. That is the only thing that the spirit will speak to you by. The spirit does NOT direct you in answering your prayers. That's religious talk and not bible truth. Sometimes the answer to prayer is....NO. You may have to wait a long time before you realize that's the answer. Don't confuse your thought, with the verse that says...........trust not your own heart and don't lean to your own understanding, but, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths. There are four basic words for "prayer" or to ask, in Greek. Make sure you are using the right one when praying.........He already knows what you have need of. "When you pray, pray in THIS MANNER. He did not say, "repeat these words".

I think god leads u in a direction, its not like where to go eat, and stuff, but I do think the important things in life, God does lead u in that
The Lord will lead and guide your Footsteps in the way that they should go. Even if it is to get a turkey. However, he's not physically telling Charles Stanley what store to go to and what aisle and what turkey to buy. I can be in Walmart getting a pair of pants and being frustrated because I can't find what I want and I'll just say out loud stupid. Lord help me. And I can't tell you how many times I've said something like that and turn around and boom right there the pants are. I don't know if it's coincidence or if he calls me to turn around and look. But I got what I needed and didn't hear the voice of God. But still felt led. Does that make sense?

What I mean, did you actually hear the voice of God telling you to go to that pawn shop? Because if you say yes, according to scripture, you are a liar. The Bible clearly states that before the death of Jesus Christ, God spoke to us through signs and wonders and sometimes physically his voice. But after the death of Christ, he spoke to us through the Holy Spirit, through his son. Kinda along the lines of for this reason, we walk by faith and not by sight. For we no longer need signs and wonders. There are no more signs and wonders. They're still our Miracles that happened today and miracles are being performed everyday I'm sure. But as far as people laying on hands and healing people at their own will, like Todd White TB Joshua Kenneth Copeland Benny Hinn and the rest of those Heretics... They are all liars. I'm not calling you a liar sir. Don't think that I am. However, if you contradict scripture, you are a liar. Not only are you a liar, but you are a heretic. Like I said, I'm not saying that you are... But what brother Peters is talking about is those people that say that they physically hear the voice of God. In other words they audibly hear it speaking to them whether in their head or out loud and I think that it's God talking to them. For instance myself, I have been at Walmart for trying to buy a pair of blue jeans and I got frustrated and couldn't find what I was looking for. So I close my eyes and I said Lord please help me find these jeans I'm looking for. I turned around and something just told me to look over to the left at the next rack, as soon as I looked over there I walked over and I saw the blue tag at the top of the hangar that was my jeans that I needed. Now that is a way that the Lord can lead and guide you in the way that you should go. But did God physically tell me to walk left over to the second track from the wall and look for the jeans? No. If I said he did I'm a liar. the Bible clearly states, especially Paul and Peter and James talk about how the Lord little nudges and coercion almost will get you to go and do what he wants you to do

yes indeed God leads us when we pray :) scripture actually says that.
I personally don't need to hear the voice of God speaking to me for two reasons: 1.) I think it would terrify me and 2.) The Holy Spirit can convict so deeply that it drives you to your knees in deep sorrow for your sin. I have had that happen. He gave me repentance and I have confidence that I will never go back. Dearest Justin when you said we are gifts for Jesus from the Father you got me. The tears are flowin. I've read that many times but I sure need to be reminded of that. When we fail so much in our disobedience and feel so inadequate we forget we are a truly blessed people. Romans chapter 7 should always follow with Romans 8, what unspeakable good news.The word of God read correctly never fails to reach the pinnacle of beauty and the prosperity gospel looks so much like a garbage dump.
