    I enjoy light assault with Drifter jets and Catlike. Its harder for enemies to look up because they're used to looking at head height, and they shoot your legs most of the time. Use the carbine that has the best hipfire and you easily get 3+ kills per life. You die quick, but its no problem because its so easy to repeat doing.

    Joining a squad that lets you solo can be useful for getting spawn beacons. I use them to get better positioning for my infiltrator playstyle by switching to light assault and planting a beacon somwhere hard for the enemy to reach me. I get "extreme menace" a lot this way. Using implants like minor cloak can make you a hybrid stalker smg/sniper. I don't recomend using a bolt action sniper rifle with minor cloak in most situations but scout rifles work really well with this play style. My "Predator" loadout uses minor cloak with infravision on night ops.

      As a solo player I used to host squads for solo players from time to time, but now you need more than 1 player to get listed in the public squad finder. While that's not an insurmountable issue, I really question if the effort is worth it.

    i used to be solo heavy capture style, but after few year of heavyside 2 i switched to SMG infil with crossbow solo. It's great in both solo and Ops since u are the only one who can detect enemy in the area.

    Solo players can play in big fights too. Medic's can have a real impact on the fight. Nothing like tossing in a couple revive grenades when the platoon there thinks it's a wipe. Engineers can too - find the closest Max and follow the XP train. Solo Lightning's for fun and profit. Parking an advanced Sundy and defending it is great fun and helpful too. Sundy hunting at a base defense is helpful (Unless it's low pop and it's the only spawn point at the only fight on the map. Please don't ruin a good fight in low pop, mmmkay?). I enjoy capping bases as LA on the off continent, but you can pick any class you like. The secret is to get a spawn point in hex which means you need a Sunderer or a router. Big tech plants have plenty of things to hack ahead of a fight; gate shields, turrets, terminals. I've had some fun with that. You know you're doing your job with they send a squad to deal with you. You know you're a real thorn in someone's backside when they waste an entire OS on little solo you.

      Adding that Engineer turrets if placed right can be a really fun and effective roadblock for enemies. I've placed some that are more effective then any MAX in the area. Usually just yourself as an engineer can hold those down if you're smart about when to hop on and off teh turret for healing and repairs.

    Im a sniper main, i been sniping for around 18-20 months, if you chose to snipe at distance or in the hotspott it will defently be impactfull in one way or another. At distance you will pick of other enemy snipers who are just like you hiding somewhere and picking easy targets. If you happend to be at a hotspott, you will be cleaning out waves after waves of enemys. My kill count per hour goes from distance sniping: between 40 and 100 kills per hour. Kill count on Hotspotts: between 110-350 kills per hour. It depence on your personal HS accursy, your map knowladge, eye messuring on all levels (ground, hills, mountains, constructions, tress, bridges, air) At hotspots you wanna take down enginers and medics, avoid snipers and lightasults. Never ever shoot at maxes. Only kill heavy assults IF there is no enginer and medics around your view of sight for at minimum 100 meters.

    I mainly play solo since I tend to do a lot of flanking. And sometimes the best flanking paths take sometime waiting for valkarie jumpjet refuels (seriously no one expects the helljumper strats onto a group/pain in the ass sunderer) Even if you fail to wipe it out there tends to be enough chaos thrown in that your team can gain a lot of momentum. My favorite case was when I threw a Harrasser down a small canyon and across a bridge for ramming speed. I got maybe 2 kills overall but it caused such a commotion that the 15 minute stalemate got wiped in my teams favor. I'm newer so I'm trying to get in the habit of trying to prolong fights but sometimes the frontlines need some shifting on positions and make sure your opponents don't fall asleep at the computer

    8:12 " Becuase of the amount of time people have had to get good at (flying) ESFs, and the skill ceiling being so high, I don't think really it's worth getting into or attempting to try. The devs really need to fix that, but I doubt they ever will because people will cry".
    I'm confused, the devs really need to fix what? Fix the skill ceiling, or fix people being so good at flying? Or fix something that you haven't mentioned? Not being salty just genuinely asking. I myself am by no means a good pilot, and tend to get shot down more than I shoot others down. I'll hold off on giving my opinion on this statement until you've had a chance to clarify what you mean to avoid this turning into a salt fest.

      In most games flying is not as difficult but still requires skill.
      Planetside has weird flight controls and is generally unintuitive. That doesn't inherently make flight better.

    Zelous you forgot one the most powerful solo/"pubby" player contributions, the router and router spire. I can tell you it's easily the best way to capture interlinks, biolabs , tech plants and amp stations . It doesn't cost alot either and with the deliver module + light assault , you can quickly set up spawns on the best spots. This has easily been the most helpful way i help out the sweats like gob on emerald .

      We used to 'main' routers and have like 2-3 up at all times during ops. Currently IMHO they're a lot more work now relative to before.
      I know you can pull them from an ANT or 2k cortium silo placed near by but idk, personally it's too much hastle for us.

    • @Igor369
      @Igor369 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The hilariously short range of post nerf routers means that you need to reset the base each cap and are at a risk of just getting your base blown up. I have had some people notice our deployed router and literally rush the routing spire down because it is so easy to find now... and If you build a fully defended base just for router then it is obviously not worth it.

    • @Ethan0433
      @Ethan0433 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This.
      One of my friends was somewhat interested in construction, wasn't sure what to get first.
      I told them, in order, Router Spire, then Air Terminal/Spawn Tube, then Repair/Turret AI/Flail/Glaive, then literally everything else.
      That gets the 3 kinds of small, temporary bases done with quickly in order of cost/complexity of setup, going from temporary router base outside a base, to Airpull base in your backline for free ESFs, to small fire support base for hitting hostile PMBs as a squad, and able to have a spawn at the firebase and a router at the target, using a Valk pulled from the firebase to deliver a few guys to the target location. Anything bigger and more complex than that firebase is going to require 80% of construction to be unlocked to actually be useful, and 30 mins to an hour of commitment, whereas all 3 of those Temp bases can be thrown up inside of 5 minutes.

    Putting a hidden spawn beacon in a tree, and either fairying over vehicles, or spawn as an engineer and place tank mines outside the vehicle spawn pad, respawn and wait, place the next ones a bit further away from the pad, so if they check they won't see them. Bonus points if you also have the archer and harrass them enough that their attention is on you and not the tank mines they are about to drive into.

  • @Avalon_PL

    Obvious answer is is the mana turret engineer with archer (plus Robotics Technician and Jockey implants) - you either harass infantry with your turret or armour with archer from high vantage points

    Ambush strategies with a stealth lightning is a fairly strong way to play too, can defeat reinforcing MBTs and sunderers, some maps are better at this than others, i notice in amerish and esamir i have the best chance at ambushing like this. Hossin not so much even with its superb potential to hide, its still very limited when it comes to moving because so much of the terrain is inaccesible.

    • @andewprod
      @andewprod ปีที่แล้ว

      I could say I'm a lightning main and yeah the maps you mentioned are my favourite aswell. Oshur is also very good for flanking especially when having a high ground (which you get a lot in oshur).

    I've been a solo player since the very beginning of PS2 and to be honest, sometimes you have much more impact than an entire squad. Lately I've been playing infiltrator a lot especially with the directives snips and you can easily take down 15 guy in a no time, having a huge impact on your faction push especially when defending.

    • @andewprod
      @andewprod ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeahh same. Sometimes your help is just a drop in the ocean but when you drive around and kill a Sundy your teammates didn't know about you feel like you were somewhat useful. Or by just annoying vehicles and esf with a rocket launcher so they drive further away and can't push how they wanted to. Good stuff.

    i also station myself in the sundy gunners spot. so people can keep up the fights.
    iv tried flash a lot. when someone asks what class i play i joke im a flash main. i tried dueling a lightning with a light assault and flash but im really bad and die. still epic imo.

    Placing Sundies either in 2nd row (when the front falls) at the front or ahead of the zerg and preparing as an engi helps.

  • @andewprod
    @andewprod ปีที่แล้ว

    I play solo all the time, I don't have much time after uni and work so I just want to get into my lightning and kill some sundys. Or jump around as a light assault annoying the enemy, its whatever. I just don't have the nerves to have to be commanded around by a random person from the internet.
    Besides friendly fire (which is just plain unnecessary) there is not really an "ethical" boundary. Your enemy will always use the quickest and more efficient way to kill you or your team so you have to be smart and maybe even annoying aswell sometimes. This is what makes me love and hate the game at the same time.
    Greets.

      I genuinely like that part of the game. Certain parts of the game feel unfair, but just like in actual war it only takes a different approach to overcome them. For instance I have an engineer loadout specifically meant for taking out vehicles setup like that. It feels VERY rewarding when you take out a vehicle that has been mowing down many allies.

    • @andewprod
      @andewprod ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Alexander-dy9ob yeah I feel the same. When I got back after years of not playing I was criticising the "unethical" strategys of my enemies like vehicle spawn camping, what you mentioned etc etc. But in the end you are the one who decided to click on that Planetside logo so youll have to find you own way to kill your enemies because they'll have no mercy. Thinking like that makes the game much more fun and you also begin to appreciate getting to know all the different tactics your enemies use to farm you so you can uno reverse card ;)

    Plus even people who don't like to camp themselves will eventually be forced to counter-cap, counter-snipe, or counter-bombard others from over the horizon, because someone has to.
