Word. But with his level of detail, I still think he can only do so many cars per year... maybe 10-20 if I'm guessing. In Detroit, he'd have a waiting list for years.
Sprayway nailed the preperation, the base coat will be off the hook. A smooth and error free paint job is achieved by the preperation. Having the right sand paper, sanding blocks, sealer-primer and guide coat before you start is key to a successful popping base coat. Always look at the project at hand for its artictic value.
I'm getting ready to start working on my '88 Cutlass here soon and am gonna use a lot of the tips that I have seen you do, hopefully with the same results!
See you pick what church and preacher when you wanna hear the word.... and you pick a good place like this channel when you wanna learn some good paint tips! Over the years since I been watching your channel I have learned enough that I have tried few small projects and keep stepping out farther. wanna thank you sprayway guys like you drop knowledge that help alot of us more than you kno
I really, really appreciate you taking the time to teach. I'm doing a huge rebuild/restoration and motor swap of a 1980 VW pickup truck. It'll need a complete respray. Your videos give me the confidence to try it myself.
great video. I learned a ton from watching this video. i was gonna skip the guide coat but i definitely see the importance of not half assing the prep work
If you haven't already you should look for some sponsors you always do good reviews on the products you use that might be something to look into and again thank you very much for your videos all inspiring
Amazing work, new subscriber wish I had found your channel before brother I’m from Australia still doing my apprenticeship in trade school I’m a fourth year now, would love to no more about your days on the come up in trade school brother, love the way you wet block my father was a painter from Lebanon and he was taught old school way he would wet block everything no matter how big the job is whether it be primer or body filler, once again amazing work thank you for knowledge your passing down
I want to say thank you Sprayway,. You helped give me the knowledge and confidence to do my first paint job which turned out better than expected. (Chrome yellow with white pearl, matte clear)
Spray way. Thank you my brother. I'm getting ready to paint my new spoiler. It came in high build gray primer. I noticed a few areas that I need to add some glazing putty. Thanks for sharing the love my brother 🙏
Fam I’ve been watching your vids back to back since 10pm yesterday. Man! All your vids are dope AF!! VERY informative and easy to follow along! Really appreciate you bruh for taking the time to help us DIY’ers! Imma cop the polisher/sander from the vid I just saw and use the link provided🙏🏾🙏🏾 Another thing I learn is “video flow”.. love how you stitch all your vids together and keep us engaged. 🏆🏆 I’m currently working on my 87 elcos engine bay. Did some welding with my Mig250 on a smooth firewall plate, panel bonded some fender wall panels and man these vids are gonna help me get it dialed in! 🗣 MUCH appreciated fam!🏁🏁🏁
You get such a great finish after wet sanding, doesn't the sealer add orange peel before base? I'll be spraying a metallic and have planned to spray darknsealer to help coverage, but I'm worried about the orange peel. Any suggestions? Great stuff as always.
I just started watching your videos and you really detailed, Great work. Do you have the video of the backseat side panels for the candy red Monte carlo?
I got a question I just want to take the clear coat off my truck and paint it not trying to take it down to bear metal. What sand paper do I need and do I need to prime it once I sand it or I can just put the base coat down.
Seriously one of the most knowledgeable and dedicated guys I've seen. Bucket list is to meet this guy someday. Outstanding work!!
Thanks Kevin
The amount of detail you put into your prep work is incredible.
Like you stated though “Your paint work is only as good as your foundation “ 👍
Thanks man
I got mad respect for his work. If he was here in Detroit I would have paid him to paint a couple of my cars by now. ✌

Great video
Thanks 🙏🏾
You should use guide coat now regular paint so what send it
👌👌
Did you wet sand with 320 only or did you go through to 600? Please clarify for me as I am a bit confused. Thanks
I stopped at 320 because I was spraying a sealer before the base
I Be Thinking “ I’m All Dat “ 👈🏾When Mixing Bondo Like SPRAYWAY 👈🏾💪🏾💯😂😂😂🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
2 thumbs up brother
Thanks for the big support
Yessir SW! 🔥 💯 🎉
Thanks 🙏🏾
You are the best! Question- If you break through while sanding and use self etching primer. Should you wet sand that before basecoat?
You don’t have to…it’s not gonna leave no orange peel…the base or sealer will cover it
I got a question I just want to take the clear coat off my truck and paint it not trying to take it down to bear metal. What sand paper do I need and do I need to prime it once I sand it or I can just put the base coat down.
320 or 400…you can go straight to base
@SprayWayCustoms ok thanks I'll show you the results.
What up spray way, is it better to prep primer using wet or dry 600 grit?
I prefer wet
How long should you let primer cure for
The longer the better. I few days
Dope
Appreciate you
Always sttaight to the point never just running your mouth and giving detailed pointers on what to look for
Thanks David
Is there a car you don’t spray sealer if so which one was it
Keep up the grind 💪🏽🔥
Yes, it was quite a few in the beginning
