    I have this machine for over a year now and in combination with a proper grinder it is a fantastic drip. It’s handmade in my homeland and you can buy all the loose parts when needed. Techni vorm also services the machines by hand and are approved by the European coffee brewing centre in Oslo.

    I've been using my KBGV Select for about 2.5 years now. I just want to say I initially hand washed the parts they tell you not to put in the dishwasher, and eventually I said screw this, and if they get damaged I'll just replace the parts. Well nothing's been damaged in washing those parts in the dishwasher for over two years (and until this month that was in a nearly 45 year old old-fashioned dishwasher with an exposed heating element that worked GREAT). It finally died, and I replaced it with a Bosch, and still no issues. So if you don't want to hand wash, use the dishwasher, just knowing it's on you if you have to replace a part here and there. But I've had no issues at all (even with the carafe) in using the dishwasher for over two years now.

    Just received it yesterday together with electric proper grinder (from different brand). First impression from the person who absolutely prefers (1) light roasts and (2) Arabic/Turkish way of making coffee via cezve is: coffee tastes amazing, not bitter, not sour, full bodied, and extremely STRONG! I did not have light roast beans so used medium dark/dark ones, may be that is part of the reason. The extraction comparing with Turkish style and even with Italian Mokka style is way higher to my taste. I normally can drink coffee before bed and sleep like baby, but after this coffee yesterday (I went crazy in the first day to try it many times during the day) where the last time I had it around say 5pm-ish, I was not able to get asleep until 3am! And even after I was on and off all night. I also noticed some hyper feeling and increased heart beat. I have used the suggested proportion 1.25 l of water and 75g of coffee. I will try to reduce coffee amount to make is slightly weaker as the standard ratio makes it extremely strong to my taste using this coffee machine.

    I just got a moccamaster select & I'm so excited about it! When I put the carafe in, it bumps the brew-stop notch & sort of oushes the brew basket up a little, which causes the brew basket to seem a bit wobbly to me. Is that normal?

    • @upscalebohemian5372
      @upscalebohemian5372 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes. You always want to put the filter basket in and slide it toward the water reservoir just to make sure it's engaged. If you don't seat it properly it won't be able to release water from the filter basket into the carafe, and the filter basket will overflow (and make a mess). What you're feeling/seeing is that trigger engaging.

    Can someone help me? So I fill it up to “6” on the water line. I do about 3 full scoops of the beans to grind, using the scooper that moccamaster provides. Does this sound about right? I don’t need it to be 100 percent perfect, just 90 percent is good Enuff for me. Thx!

      Save yourself the headache and just buy a $20 kitchen scale. Volumetric measurements are inconsistent and not accurate and you'll just get varying quality coffee every morning. Much easier to just quickly weight it out and know what you're getting every single time. 60g of coffee to 1L of water is the standard; adjust grind/dose from there.

    • @ESW206

    • @matthagge4792

      @@ESW206 I find it a lot easier to use a scale since you’re taking out all the uncertainty and inconsistency, and you’re adding zero extra time to your workflow. But hey, you do you. Nobody can really tell you how many scoops to use since they don’t know how much those scoops have in them, hence the scale. In realty not using a scale is a headache.

    So I make 3/4 liter per the manual instructions but it doesn’t specify if I should select the half carafe or full carafe setting. Do you have any suggestions?

    • @stevedavis8329
      @stevedavis8329 ปีที่แล้ว

      1-6 cups is actually on the "half" setting, and the 7-10 is full setting. (Don't quote me on this, but it has stuck in my head from having read it somewhere and been kind of surprised that it isn't actually 1-5 and 6-10).

    What does the V stand for in KBGV Select?

    • @supertruckertom
      @supertruckertom 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Valve I think.
      It has a shutoff valve on the hopper that stops the drip when the carafe is removed.

      This is from 8+ years ago but explains what the letters mean in the naming conventions. This was made BEFORE the introduction of the KBGV Select so does not include the V designation back then. The V and the word "Select" are essentially indicating the same thing, that the machine gives you the option to switch between half or full pot when brewing. Some sites say the V stands for "Volume Control" (again, meaning the ability to change depending on how much coffee you're making, full or half pot).

    Disappointing video on the Moccamaster Select. I wonder what the writer for this video was thinking when he or she wrote and planned this piece. The video is not up to the usual standards of Pat and Seattle Coffee Gear. 👎🏼👎🏼

    Hey kids, I purchased this same model 5 years ago and to be honest, A $20 dollar "Mr Coffee" coffee maker brews just as good of a cup of coffee if you use quality coffee. My wife uses a Mr Coffee and I used to use this overpriced machine and ultimately this one doesn't get much use.

      yeah, nah. I've brewed all kinds of coffee in all kinds of machines. This one brewed a cup of coffee on my second attempt that was so good I will spend the rest of my life trying to equal it. I've seen a Mr. Coffee review recently. 50% of the grounds never even got wet in the basket.

    The Moccamaster doesn't evenly distribute water onto the grounds. You have to open the lid while it's brewing hot water on the grounds and use a utensil to help make the brew bed even. It makes no sense to pay top dollar for a machine that doesn't even work right. I ended up going with the BPB instead.

      Your BPB doesn't even brew hot coffee.. but I do get your point. I have the Technivorm One Cup and I have to shake it a little to get it all wet. I'm thinking a good fix for this would be a shower head type attachment.

    • @kylester89

      @@deadcoww Yes, I bought serval different versions of the Technivorm and found the shower head is an issue for all of them. Also, the BPB is more customizable and has Gold standard setting like the Technivorm. The build quantality on the Technivorm is more superior though.
