- Check out this latest make: Praetorian Guard helmet from Mandalorian Season 3
It's been a while since I made a video on how to take raw 3D prints to finished prop. This time I cover how I used UV 3D printer resin to fill and sand away layer lines

Vielen Dank!
best video I seen on Layer lines with UV resin
Thank you! 🙏
No sir Thank You@@TheBrodalorian
That's gonna be a great help for my project of filling the surface of my 3D printed Rocketeer jetpack replica
That callus remover is a top score 👍
It’s pretty nice! And came with 100 fresh sandpapers
Great place for the coffee while brushing in resin…👍🏻👍🏻
Ooooooooh 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 love the detail on the resin and sanding Elvis
Great video! I love using resin to speed up clean up. I like you mentioned safety. Can't mess around with this stuff. Just one criticism... maybe don't have any food or drinks at the workstation. if something flicks off the brush, your coffee could make you sick. Tip: Mix baby powder into some resin off to the side to thicken it up to the consistency of toothpaste to fill gaps and holes. Much faster and easier than going back and forth to the UV light. Fill all the gaps and holes then hit it with light once. Then move on to covering the helmet.
Excellent presentation.
Thank you!
Working on my very first Cosplay this year and this is going to be super helpful, thank you!
Thanks you! And good luck with the cosplay!
Oya mando’ade! Thank you very much for the assistance, it has helped and will help many brothers such as me.
Glad it helped!
Excellent
Glad I found you.
I use a Q-tip and resin for filling smaller imperfections or holes, used to use wood filler but resin is cheaper and quicker also less sanding
I’ve also learned since making this video that adding some baby powder to the resin makes it even easier to sand. Try it out!
You are a master!! Love the video!! 🤘🏻🧡🧡🤘🏻
Had to edit that!! Master!! Master!!
Lol, figured it was meant to be something supportive :)
Great video, Elvis! Nice and clear explanations of your process. And the helmet looks fantastic! Every new project shows how your skills have improved! Phenomenal work, my friend!
Thank you dude!
Very well done! I look forward to trying this out myself on my future projects. Just starting out, so this will be a very good method to use. I plan to specialize in custom Mandalorian armors as well as other requests submitted by anyone interested really. 😅
Very informative video! I’ve never used UV resin, but it seems like another good solution to finishing props. Another great video.
I think ima stick to this going forward, it sanded so nice I almost skipped filler primer
@@TheBrodalorian now I’m going to have to give it a shot.
Looks amazing. Great video
Spectacular work..thanks for all the tips!
Glad you like them!
is the scotch brite pad the heavy duty version?
I do normally use the green heavy duty one, in this video I happen to use the gray one, which is a finer softer one that’s not suppose to scratch dishes or something I think. But the green ones work great too. It’s all in the pressure you apply.
Nice job, man! Also peeking those Jedi lightsaber stands that I've also printed for myself lol
Love those simple stands!
@@TheBrodalorian Absolutely, nice and clean!
Awesome work
Thank you! Cheers!
Great tutorial! Very useful to see this often skipped but time consuming and essential process!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Get a deburring tool for the edges! Once i realized that, it was a huge help
That’s a great idea!
That was amazing sir. Respect.
👊
Very nice work
Your videos are the best
Absolutely stunning work as always, the resin definitely does seem to cut down some time with filling
very cool. when u put the resin what grade or number sandpaper do u use on it
I use a medium like 220 to cut a little faster, then follow up with moderate 400 wet sand. No need to go higher because the filler primer will fill the 400 grit sand lines
What grit of sandpaper did you use on the uv resin
I used a medium grit like 220 to cut a little faster, then follow up with moderate 400 wet sand. No need to go higher because the filler primer will fill the 400 grit sand lines
Very cool!
I gotto ask.. if you're comfortable using a spray gun for the clear coat, why not spray the red too? Maybe even the primer?
Plan on starting to! Actually working on a gar Saxon mauldalorian now
@@TheBrodalorian awesome. You definitely should. It Seemed like you had a good grasp on it. 👍
I'm in the collision repair trade for more 25 years so a spray gun is easy to me.
NOICE! Honestly dont think they make it look this good in the movies unless they have 501'st come in as stand its.
Wow that is dedication
Thank you!
@@TheBrodalorian anytime, I'm definitely subbing
What clear coat you used here?
I used a Finish One 2K clear coat.
Would love a link to the UV Resin you used, as well as the clear coat and the spray gun!
Don’t get hung up on the resin, I used what I had laying around, you dont need anything special. ABS-like or Fast UV resin will do. I happened to use Elegoo Fast grey for this(because I’m using it up, didn’t care for it for 3D printing). Clear coat I used was Acme Finish1 FC720 paired with FH612 hardener.
@@TheBrodalorian Thank you. What kind of spray gun did you use for the clear? It looked like a great size.
I used HVLP touch up gun with a 0.8mm nozzle, but I think a full size 1.4 is what most pro’s use. The one I’m using is the cheapo touch up gun from Harbor Freight
GYYYYYAT dang you did that.
Looks great!
Thank you!
The end result is quite nice. I've seen guys use CA instead of resin and sand that, any idea which is better?
I’ve never tried it, but I’d imagine they might be similar. Wonder if resin could be a little softer, as-in possibly easier to sand.
I genuinely learned some things. Keep it up dude. 🫶🏽
Glad to hear it!
Never would have thought to use a Callus sander. Also, I live in the UK. What is this 'Sun' you speak of?
😂 UV light for you
Dude….STUPID BEAUTIFUL WORK!! 😍😍😍

Please wear a respiratory mask while sanding plastic
I don't think having your drink next to your work is a good idea
I survived 😂
What type of clear coat did you use?
That’s a finish one 2K clear coat
