same, he was so nice to him compared to some of the other cafes where it feels like they're laughing *at* him. Being a server in any of these places is hard, especially for a non-native so of course he's going to be bad at it, no need to take the piss.

Honestly, this is customer service in a damn nutshell. You could do so many things right but the instant you do something wrong, even if you apologize and want to make it better, you're dismissed as being incompetent and, of course, they want to speak with your manager 🙄

I've been to this place (Swallowtail) 5 years ago. It's quite well-known among otome fans. To be honest, I'm not used to this kind of super elegant high tea, so it was the most nerve-wracking dining experience I've ever had lol. They literally do everything for you: pour tea, put the sandwich/biscuit on your plate, place the table cloth on your lap. And when you go to the washroom, they carry your bag for you until you get to the door of the washroom AND when you come out of the washroom, your butler is there waiting for you. You give your bag to him and he will escort you back to your seat.
My friend was a regular customer and she had like a card that they stamp on each visit. On her birthday, she gets a handwritten letter from one of the butlers. They're very polite but distant unlike host clubs where the guys are all over you.

@@creamsicleorange8266 idk about butlers, but as a regular servant, waiter or however you want to call it, you dont want to hold a tray on a flat palm, trust me. every trainer, manager or senior waiter will teach you to open up your hand a little bit~so i kinda looks like you are holding it on the tip of your 1st three fingers while the other two fingers are kinda clenched, but not too tight. that goes for fine dining also, same rule. and you are actually more maneuverable with the tray itself that way. but as i said, i dont really know is it same for butlers, its just that this way is actually safer as far as dropping things on your guests are concerned. so maybe Mel was trying to say that. Source: Myself, working at HRC for 2 years now.

I go to Swallowtail every year when I go back to Japan. Last year I didn't have anyone to go with, so ended up going myself...and embarrassed myself by trying to pour my own tea. The butler was like, "my lady, you mustn't pour it yourself, I am here to do that on your behalf". But I was so bored and forgot that you can't use your phone in there!
Is that why there's all the books then? Tea & a poem doesn't sound half bad.

It’s different to how European butlers act. For example in the bowing they would have some sort of hand gesture as well rather than a Japanese bow where they keep their hands to their sides. Although not many British people have the proper training in how to bow and curtesy now.

When turning their is a certain angle your feet have to be at to make it look fluid. At one point when showing us how to move one of those food trolling things one of the wheels fell off. (Our equipment not theirs) He just kept it balance and glided across the room with it missing that's when I was like "damn, out of my league." Haha

I actually had the expectation that Connor would very well on this particular Cafe. I mean like they mentioned in the Trash Taste Podcast, Connor has two modes. Either he fools around for comedic purposes or he actually tries (natural comedic personality aside lol)

I'm a straight dude, yet prefer butler cafes to maid cafes. Because when being served by butlers I feel far more "royal" then when I am served by maids.

no kidding.. Im a guy and I love this kind of cafe so much. Id go here alot if I lived there.
However ive been only to a Maid cafe, with my mother and we were both so annoyed. Bad food, loud music, yelling awkward girls just staring at us. ya not a good thing
I went to this butler cafe two years ago, it was an amazing experience and be treated like a princess for real lol . However, You have to ring the bell to get escorted to the toilet or the butlers to pour your tea, EVERY SINGLE TIME ( there was this dude who actually looked like Sebastian and I nearly fainted seeing him 🤣)
