      @@pgmr6304 huh... I'm 16, never went to any other country before and I mean, being bilingual isn't that special, here in Malaysia
      Supposedly, with Malay as the official language, and English being implemented greatly in the education system, most should know Malay and English in varying degrees of fluency, and Chinese and Indian have another one in their hands, being their native language...
      And due to religion, some Malay people further studying about the Arabic language
      But yeah, some people consider English as hard but it's quite easy for me, there's definitely a pattern of people who live in urban are being more fluent in English than those who lives in rural and one of the reasons being media consumption
      Now, to answer your question, there actually isn't any lol...
      Most of the questions would be: How is your vocabulary is so good and I'll usually just answer that I watch English movies, read book in English, basically media consumption

    • @PercyPanleo
      @PercyPanleo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It seems like it was actually literally translated for most languages. If I had to make a guess as to why English in particular didn't get a direct translation, it's probably because of Conan being a direct reference to Conan Doyle. The only other reason I can think of was that they wanted a more catchy title because the dub was originally going to be for kids, which was seemingly changed late enough that the DVD publisher and VIZ Media both used censored names for Gin and Vodka, being referred to as Kaspar and Melkior instead.

    • @Kanethedragon
      @Kanethedragon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@PercyPanleo I’d say it’s both a mix of copyright issues with the estate of Ser Arthur Conan Doyle, as well as a copyright issue with the show Conan featuring it’s talk show host, Conan O’Brian. Ultimately if they went with the title in the US, there would have effectively been a potential small multitude of litigation risk factors if either of those caught wind of it and felt it encroached upon their shtick.

    • @ThatOneAccount931
      @ThatOneAccount931 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      They changed the name because there was a popular film called Conan the Barbarian in the 80’s. It had a theme song and I think a few sequels. It would often play on reruns on tv and even though most ppl haven’t seen it, we’ve all heard of it and it is the first thing most Americans think of when we hear the name Conan.
      Sadly, most Americans wouldn’t know who Conan Doyle was, and a few know Conan O Brian.

    Here in Brazil we generally had the names of anime translated from English or Spanish, that way we had the translation of Saint Seiya as "Cavaleiros do zoadiaco" (Knights of the Zodiac).
    But when they decided bring Hagane no Renkenjutsushi they decided to translate direct from the original name, in other words: "O alquimista de aço" (The stell alchemist) and a lot of people panned the translation saying it was the wrong translation because they thought Fullmetal Alchemist was the original name.

    Demon Slayer's Japanese title means something closer to "The Blade That Destroys Demons/Demon Destroying Blade" if translated literally word for word, so it really is a strong localization. "Demon Slayer" just sounds way better and a lot more appealing. Though I haven't seen or read it at all so idk which title actually works best.
    Edit: I have watched the first few episodes and the name seems even more clever now, because the show is about "Demon Hunters" yet due to the title they're able to translate "Oni Gari" as "Demon Slayer" which again just sounds cooler.
