    Line set on the roof. My mind is blown 😳

      This house had high ceilings with no attic and was also on a slab. So there was no other way to access each room with the linesets. Each line is insulated and then we put them in the metal line cover to give them even more protection from the elements. It is not shown in this video, but we will be returning to paint the line covers on the roof with a special paint.

    • @albertairinc.1140
      @albertairinc.1140  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No issues with flickering lights on a new install of a condenser. But we have seen that happen on service calls we go on. Usually due to the breaker or main panel issues. Or it could be a short in the compressor. I recommend a technician to look at the system and test those things to see what it could be.

    Why not just run the lines along the side of the house to where you are mounting inside unit?? What happnes when roof needs replaced…

    • @fijiman88
      @fijiman88 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We ran them on the roof because the maximum amount of lines for this system was 268 feet. If we ran them on the side of the house we would have gone over that. Also the customer wanted as littlle lines as possible to show on the outside of his house. If the roof needs to be redone then we will have to pull up the lines and then put them back.

    • @ryb1906
      @ryb1906 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like it, I think you did a good job. But I would of probably had two AC one on each side of the house and ran the lines on the outside of the wall .. one AC doing 3 zone and the other AC on the other side of the house doing the 2 zones.. that way if one of the system is down and needs a repair they still have the other AC working. But nice work ..

    • @fijiman88
      @fijiman88 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ryb1906 We considered that, but the cost of doing another condenser and running another electrical circuit to a second condenser would have added significant cost to the project. Also, the electrical panel would have needed to be upgrade to facilitate that. But I do agree that would have been the best way to do it. Unfortunately the cost was major consideration in deciding to go the way we did.

    How much does it cost to install a 5 zone mini split system?

    • @albertairinc.1140
      @albertairinc.1140  23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for watching my video. The cost of a 5 zone system will depend on many variables. If you are in the Orange County area I would be happy to come and take a look at your home to give you an accurate estimate. Otherwise I would recommend calling a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer in your area.

  • @cliffclof

    Is a 5 zone system a bad choice? I have a company telling me I need two outdoor units.

    • @fijiman88
      @fijiman88 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For this house the 5 zone system was the best option for a few reasons. 1 - The existing electrical panel could only handle adding one more 220 circuit. Otherwise if they went with 2 ductless condensers they would need to upgrade the panel to 200 amps. That would have cost a lot of extra money to do so. 2 - The 5 ton ductless condenser and 5 high wall fan coils fit within the specs to cool and heat the house. That might not be the case with other homes. 3 - This system fit within the budget of the customer. Doing 2 ductless systems would have been a lot more money.

    So you have 63k btu worth of indoor units and only a 40k outdoor unit? Does that work well with the exterior unit being 23,000 BTU smaller?

    • @fijiman88
      @fijiman88 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The outdoor condenser is 48,000 BTU. Not all of the zones run at the same time and it is a variable speed system so it supplies the amount of cooling or heating capacity to the individual fan coils as needed. It is rare that the demand for cooling or heating is 100% per fan coil. I have had no complaints about being able to cool or heat their house from this customer since we installed the system.

    • @KnightsGarage
      @KnightsGarage ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fijiman88 ok, just asking because i have a new Mitsubishi system with two 9k ceiling cassette's in my basement and one 24k wall mount in the garage mated to a 36k outdoor heat pump unit. The basement is spray foamed and the units are oversized for the space but 9k was the smallest ceiling cassettes they make. So neither one should ever demand over 50% i'm sure.
      My garage unit is seeming to have trouble ramping up when it gets hot after pulling a car in. 24k in a 480 sqft garage should not struggle at all.
      Just asked that to get some input from you and see how the system in this video was performing.

    • @fijiman88
      @fijiman88 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KnightsGarage With the 9k units having a smaller demand the 24k unit should be able to handle the garage area. I would have the installing contractor check the function of the 24k unit and charge on the system to make sure it is running correctly. We have had no problems with this 5 zone system. Just like yours, the 9k bedroom fan coils are only running at 50% demand when on. Only the 18k units run full out when it gets really hot.

  • @TomCaliendo

    Would a 5 zone like this heat and cool a whole 3100 sqft house in New Jersey?

    • @albertairinc.1140
      @albertairinc.1140  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It should be able to. But you would need to make sure condenser and fan coils are sized correctly for the rooms. If for some reason you need more BTU's to cool or heat the house then other option is to do a 3 ton ductless condenser with with 3 fan coils for one side of the house and then a another 3 ton system for the other side. Ductless offers many options when configuring a system. I'm sure that one way or another you can find a system or systems that will meet your needs.
