With experience, it's all depended on the rainfall and thunder in each area. Months of the year can shift the wildebeest movement late or early with the exception of January to early February (calving season). With experience of understanding wildebeest movement, rather than a clockwise journey, different groups have different migratory routes. There is generally a western and eastern movement. For seeing the migration, the best time that I would recommend is January(calving season). The herds are always on the open grasslands (Ndutu, Gol Mountains, Oldupai, Kakesio and Laetoli) from mid to late January and different groups are split into female herds and bachelor herds, and would be Tanzania. Accomodations if you want to see the migration is Ndutu Safari Lodge or Serians Camp(budget is high), but can get busy.
