    Love it
    One trick I use for my rig and for ease for my wife and I is to spray paint the head of the key
    And the lock.
    Blue key goes with blue lock
    I have a hitch lock
    Jerry can lock
    Bike lock
    Spare Wheel lock
    Sky box lock
    It starts to get an annoying with how many keys there are
    You have that plus a trailer.
    And the keys and locking lug nut tool stay in the same spot always. Either your un locking something or it’s back in its home it never goes in a pocket or set down somewhere to prevent loosing them or misplacing them.

    Nice review! Opus 15 owner for almost a year now and found myself agreeing with all of your likes and dislikes. I’m towing with an F150 with the 3.5L Ecoboost and have had mine in some pretty remote spots, including northern AZ! So far, no issues getting where we went to go.

      Love hearing that! Thanks for the comment Brian. Curious how you like towing with the eco boost? We aren’t fully satisfied with our GX470. It does the work but we can tell it’s maxed out. Thinking about a good future tow rig for the opus…

      @@4XTRAIL Look in to getting the f150 powerboost hybrid with the built in generator in the bed. Than you can run the ac in the opus without needing to get a generator.

    Enjoyed your video. We just purchased the Op 15 today, have to wait for a week to pick it up as they are putting in the lithium batteries and controller/charger. I DID wack my forehead on that large metal bar above the door on my way out and figured I'd probably do it again in the future, so will cut a chunk of pool noodle to pad it a bit. I too was really surprised at the number of keys that go with it, but those locks are darn stout. Not much storage for tools and such, will have to get that figured out as well. Towing with an F350, 6.7 turbo diesel, so don't imagine I'll even notice it back there. Looking forward to our first adventure! Thanks for your insights.

      Hey Larry, that’s awesome! And I’ve totally whacked my head too 😅 that’s a good idea about padding with a pool noodle. I use the front two gerry can holders for my waterproof rigid tool boxes - they fit great! Your F350 will tow it so much better than our GX470! Hope your maiden voyage is great!

    Great video. I recently purchased an OP15 and there are definitely some quirks to owning one but overall a great camper. I noticed you have some tool boxes mounted in the Jerry can mounts. What boxes are you using? Are they waterproof? Do you like them? Thank you! Can’t wait for another video of your adventures in the OP15.

    • @4XTRAIL
      @4XTRAIL  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey David! That’s awesome. The tool boxes are Rigid ones from Home Depot - the more flat rectangle shaped ones that come with all the orange cubbies inside. I’ve used them for my tools in the Jeep for a while and they do have a water proof seal around the lid! They fit pretty well in the jerry can holders on the Opus so for now, that’s how we take tools with us.

      Hey there, so sorry for my delay in responding! A full tour is on my list but haven’t set a date for that release yet. There are definitely getting to be some really cool options for off-road campers out there. For us a lot of it came down to size vs sleeping capacity. The opus 15 is fairly compact for being able to comfortably sleep 4 adults. They also came out with a slightly larger Opus 16 recently, I haven’t looked into that one as much but may be worth checking out! I believe Airstream also came out with an off-road type trailer as well. Good luck on your research and thanks for visiting the channel!

    • @4XTRAIL

      Hey Veronica, there isn’t a built in hitch but the spare tire carrier is very heavy duty. I could see you retro fitting something in place of the two tires and utilizing the existing rack for your e-bikes? You’d have to see it in person to see if that would be possible for your scenario. Happy camper shopping!

    • @4XTRAIL
      @4XTRAIL  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! It’s a 2022 Opus 15 - no changes yet other than the LiFePO4 battery upgrade that we had the dealer install. Yes, we’ve only towed with our GX470 which has the 4.7 V8 rated for 6500lbs. My guess is the Opus is around 6000lbs fully loaded so considering that + the 33” tires on the GX, it does alright. Steeper inclines are a struggle but we just get in the slow lane and take it easy. Brakes are just adequate. Hope that helps 🤙🏼

    Is there a non-offroad version of this camper style? i.e. exterior kitchen, lots of large beds for a big family, etc? I love the Opus design here but I'm on the east coast so don't really need this things capabilities. With a family of 5 though, a "normal" camper trailer with this many large beds is also like 30 feet long and comes with huge sofas, interior kitchens, flatscreen tv's... all this extra junk that I really don't want when i'm trying to get outdoors for a reason!

    • @4XTRAIL
      @4XTRAIL  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! Yes the 3 - 100watt panels don’t do a ton but they did sustain our power for about 5 days of continuous use in mostly sunny conditions a month back. We were running the fridge, some lights and bathroom fan. Not bad but planning to purchase a generator and / or expand solar panels!

      Nice! No, I haven’t. Its too heavy for the Wrangler @ 4900lbs dry. The JT won’t be towing until it has 40s and 1 tons so 🤷🏼‍♂️😬 hopefully the 5:38s give some towing capacity back enough to pull the Opus!

    How is the towing of the trail do you get any swaying like a dweller?

    • @4XTRAIL
      @4XTRAIL  ปีที่แล้ว

      With our GX being shorter wheelbase there is occasional sway if you are on uneven pavement. Nothing too bad if you know it’s coming and are careful. Probably wouldn’t be an issue with a longer wheelbase tow vehicle.

    • @richardpearce2186
      @richardpearce2186 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Swaying is most likely due to unbalanced weight distribution in the trailer. Move weight from behind the trailer axle to forward of the trailer axle to increase tongue weight.

      @@dparrillojr2 You can find intech ovr expeditions with the off road package for under 50k that include solar panels and an onboard generator (those are overpriced too. Intech cuts corners). I’ve come across a few over the years that had generators as well, but I don’t recall the names. When you know what goes into the materials cost and construction of these trailers, you’d be amazed they charge more than 25k. Most of these things have garbage welds, bad weather sealing, cheap suspension, the list goes on.

    • @dparrillojr2
      @dparrillojr2 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@_Spacecraft this is why I haven’t bought a a camper yet they all seem very similar on the outside, but I’m so concerned about the guts. Like you said shitty welds warm or cold air coming in due to improper or seals, etc. but then on the other hand there’s gonna be imperfections with everything. I just wish I knew which poison I’m choosing. And these things are ridiculously expensive than yesterday. Seems like 50,000 is the bottom of the barrel I have a family of four with two dogs I want to get in my camper head up to the north east and have an off grid system, fully self-sufficient. But you’re spending big money I mean it’s half the price of my house.

    • @_Spacecraft
      @_Spacecraft 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dparrillojr2 Yeah it’s totally insane. I bought an intech flyer explore which is fairly bare bones. Has a tip out bed, slide out stove and refrigerator, air conditioning and propane heater. Then ended up installing a tankless water heater system, shower, toilet, and have solar panels and a solar generator. The trailer itself was about $26k and I’ve put probably close to $10k of stuff into it. I can go off grid camping pretty well for a week or so at a time if I don’t have a water source nearby. Even at 26k it’s overpriced and I’ve had to fix and improve shoddy work from the factory. Sucky time for wanting a good off road camping trailer.
