    What Men's Health had to say about the OP15: "This Off-Road Trailer Expands Into a Family-Friendly Camper: Compact and robust when it's being towed, the OP 15 features a pop-up roof for additional headroom, and a rear end that extends to allow for a far roomier interior cabin. Inside the trailer, there's a perfect family setup, with a king-size bed on one side, and twin bunk beds on the other. There's also a leatherette dining area and a family bathroom with a shower, sink and chemical toilet. Hot water, heating and air conditioning are included as standard."
    "When it comes to cooking, Opus figured that campers would want to do it al fresco, and so the OP 15 includes a large fridge and freezer which slides out of the side of the trailer, and a fully equipped exterior kitchen featuring a stainless steel stove, sink and storage. ...The Opus 15 Hybrid Caravan offers the latest in "tough luxury." I can tell you it is definitely NOT like " towing a bag of marshmallows down the road" unless you want to see that bag scatter all over the interstate. This thing fishtales like crazy when you get above 57 mph. Which means if you're towing cross country you better set your cruise control at 57 and hope you're not in a hurry. I don't know if it's the articulating hitch or what but it's one of the worst trailers I've ever pulled on the interstate... and Im a roofer who has pulled thousands of dump trailers full of shingles. Camping it's supposed to be relaxing but you'll be white knuckling it all the way to your destination and all the way home. I bought a sway bar and hitch on Amazon hoping that will help. This guy is a typical smooth-talking salesman. The thing is definitely not worth the 60k sticker price. The king-size mattress is hard as a rock so you'll have to invest in a foam topper or three. Also the awning is very cheap and flimsy, requires a hand crank. My Coleman, which cost a quarter of the price even had an electric awning. The stereo is also very cheap. Overall from my perspective, I have a very bad case of buyer's remorse. If I had to do it over again I would have bought an Airstream.

    Most off-road capable vehicles will be at or near their maximum towing capacity with this trailer and may even require a weight distribution hitch. The Jeep Gladiator comes to mind as Jeep recommends weight distribution for anything over 2,000 lbs. What provisions are there for a weight distribution hitch for the highway miles needed to get to the fun off-road trails?

    I have a few question. This pertains to an OP15 with 3 BattleBorn Batteries.
    1. If I remember correctly the air conditioning unit on top is a Dometic Penguin II 13,500 BTU that runs off 115V and also 12V but primarily 115V. What is the inverter installed in the OP15 (if the inverter varies based on batteries installed then I’m just interested in the inverter installed with BB Lithium batteries).
    2. Is there some kind of soft start or Micro Air Easy Start installed on the Dometic Air Conditioner?
    3. What is the typical current pulled by the Dometic Air Conditioner during normal use (say ambient is low to mid 80’s Fahreneit and attempting to bring the space down a solid 10-12 degrees Fahrenheit to 70-72F).
    What is the typical current on a very hot day 90F+while trying to cool down as fast as possible?
    4. On the control panel there is a battery capacity gauge. Because Lithium Iron Phosphate has such a flat charge/discharge curve, reading voltage does not provide an accurate SOC measurement between 20% and 80%. I’m guessing the “fuel gauge” and its percentage is for the AGM batteries and is not accurate for LiFeP04 like a coloumb meter with a shunt on the negative battery cable would be?
    5. Is there a factory option for having a battery monitor with a shunt installed installed prior to delivery?
    6. Does the voltmeter/ammeter only show current leaving the battery? Is the ammeter only a single digit followed by two digits after the decimal (x.xx) or can it convert to two digits with just a third digit after the decimal (xx.x)?
    I think that’s all. Thanks!

  • @int3rnal
    @int3rnal 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Need a wider lens for the inside shots. It’s hard to get a good perspective of the interior with the tight lens. Plus, you didn’t show the inside of the extra space in the back with the fold out panels.

    • @derekscha
      @derekscha 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My assumption for the space in the back is the king mattress slides back from it's travel spot over the counter and seating area. Agree that more shots of that would have been beneficial.

    What is (or can be added) in place to block heavier winds while cooking/prepping. There aren’t many resources on the 15 that show the full use of the wraparound awning-type accessory. Can it be used (in clement weather) as a moderate shelter for additional cot or two outside on the shower side?

  • @wasichuwacanta7010
    @wasichuwacanta7010 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Um, you're confusing width with length, and you should give both (I assume it's about 7' wide). The bed area seems to lack any insulation judging from how flimsy the rood looked. Other than that, I could live in this full time, and while I prefer an inside kitchen, I'd be OK with going outside to make my morning coffee!
