Great video. I've followed your build as you've posted it to the HAMB and I've come to you channel here to watch it all again. You've done an excellent job on all of your build videos. This will be an excellent resource for years to come for traditional builders.
Thanks for this. Just pulled my '38 trans apart this afternoon. I've the Van Pelt book but it's a steep learning curve. Appreciate the video. (Getting the second gear off was a real PITA!)
I have a open drive shaft transmission I am redoing I have watched your vid over and over it has really help me out Thank thank you so much for sharing
Aaron, I am taking apart a 39 trans right now. It’s pretty oily just like yours in the video. Was just just a power washer you used to get the gunk and oil out of it?
Great video . I'm getting ready to tackle this myself. What did you use to seal the shafts? I saw that you painted something black on there but didn't say what it was. Thanks
Looks good. What number was on the trans 78-7006. Have you ever used the gears and shafts from a side shift in one of the top loader transmission? I understand it works, just wondering if you have done that, I getting ready to see if it works. Good video, thanks
Hi Joe, yes the tranny is a 78 case. This is the first transmission I have worked on, so I don't know if the side shift gears will work or not. My suspicion is they will. Thanks.
Thanks for the response, you are doing a great job if this is your first. I started watching your old videos and you are following the hot rod books very well. Can I ask how much further are you in the build. I am not very good at figuring out the videos and found the first part right now. Are you doing the 8ab yourself? I have about 4 good engines and all the guys that do machine work are getting older. Someone to do the valve grinding in the block is the problem. Boring cylinders is not a big thing for them. Again great job.
Hi Joe, the hood video is my last update, that is where I am at currently. I am working on headlight mounts now and will post that video when i'm done with them. I had the machining work done on the block, but I built the motor myself.

Thanks Corsa, I appreciate your comments.
I really appreciate this video, this trans looks to be pretty easy so now I’m not worried about digging into mine!
Perfect, this is exactly why I did these videos.

It's coming on well. Looking forward to seeing it all put together.
Thank you.
Great video for all to learn from.😊
Thanks Don
Thanks for posting this video. It's extremely helpful
Thanks Nicholas. Glad it's helpful to you.

Thank you for sharing this !
My pleasure Tom.
very good A+
great video, what did you use to clean all of those gears up??
Brad Balster
Thanks Brad, I used parts cleaning solvent from tractor supply.
Did you just pressure wash the case before re-assembly or did you media blast and paint? Or do you paint after final assembly?
Hi James, I pressure washed before assembly and painted after final assembly.

Hi Paul, sorry I don't remember what kind of sealant I used.
It was Permatex black silicone adhesive sealant. I just found the tube in my tool box :-)

@@aarondominguez4533 I think I finally found that video. Thanks
Awesome work, thank you so much! ;)
Thanks Miguel
Where'd you get your bearing and main shaft?
Hi Jay, I bought a new old stock main shaft off of E bay and new bearing from Vanpelt.
