  • Skip Tooth Chains - Do they make a difference?- 2022 #13
in recent videos I have been milling with the MS462cm and a 36" bar and its been a struggle.
I decide to change one of my chains to skip tooth and test it. What a difference it makes, so much quicker and easier on the body. Its not a perfect milling chain as I don't change the cutter angles, but the improvements are awesome.

mount a boat trailer hand wench onto your mill frame. You can run the cable out to a pulley, then back to the mill forming a triangle so it pulls both ends of the mill evenly. When you're milling you just hold the throttle and crank the wench instead of having to muscle it through the log.

Hey Scott, I’ve seen that on a video, it’s a great idea. It sure does get tiring applying constant pressure to the saw. Might have to try it next time I have a few boards to cut. Thanks for watching.

That seemed to work a lot better Chris.

Mate it makes a huge difference. I don’t think you have a long bar, but if you do, don’t be afraid to loose a few teeth.

Huge difference Daniel. Never had a skip tooth before, I’m really impressed
