You are missing an important option, specifically a smartphone adapter that is mounted on its own eyepiece, and is swapped with your normal viewing eyepiece. It is very affordable, and on my binocular stereoscope it greatly simplifies switching between binocular viewing and taking pictures. On my Olympus scope, the less sophisticated eyepiece of the adapter is actually a much better optical match with my phone than the Olympus eyepiece. Of course a small amount of refocusing is required.
With today's high-megapixel phones, digtal zoom can achieve wonders, and at higher maginifications, you may find yourself using your phone as a viewfinder in preference to binocular viewing.

I actually get worse image quality on my mirrorless cameras, mostly because the sensor is not designed for low light environments, which leads to noise in the image. There are some other technical considerations which make regular mirrorless/DSLR camera sensors non-ideal for microscopy too. That being said, if you can absolutely blast your sample with an IMMENSE amount of light, mirrorless cameras will give you the best image. But I am talking amounts of light that the majority of microscopes cannot provide stock.

@@micro_safari that depends on the software of your camera. Normaly mirrorless DLSR cameras have the best sofware for noise reduction, sensivityadaption and so on. But sometimes i use a 4K webcam without the optics, they do a good job for hobbiists

My microscope doesn't have the third adaptor port thing, the "barrel". Is there a way to get that blue box to look down the regular eyepiece place?
