It’s so badass that JD just went in with the slide instead of arms racing with Josh. Josh did his thing and then JD took it somewhere else and the two together made an awesome stretch of music
These guys are all great top tier players, way better than me. But in this day and age with all the information available/online lessons, etc, there's many hundreds of players as good at this lot. When I'm on tour I'll occasionally go to see a local band or jam session and it blows me away how many unnoticed great players there are...often in shit towns in the middle of no where.
+Jackson Smith so true, i think now more than ever a player's creativity and individuality matters more than just being"good" or having chops. everybody's got chops these days but very few can actually write good music
+Nodald T. Rump Very very true on the songwriting. Thats why players like Jimmy Page, Angus Young, Keith Richards..etc will be remembered by the masses and players like Guthrie Govan, Danny Gatton, Shawn Lane...etc will be remembered mostly by other guitar players. While the latter are far superior players technically, the former wrote some of the greatest songs of all time. Great songs stand the test of time.
+Jackson Smith true.you heard Blake Mills? dude smokes all these guys in the songwriting department.monster player too , seen him live and he blew my mind. he isn't as polished nor does he play as savagely as JB or Simo but his phrasing is tops. tasty stuff.
Yeah, there are a lot of good players out there...but not on this level. These really are some of the top guys in the biz. I definitely wouldn't say many hundreds - maybe with the chops but not with the nuance and feel.
Josh made the tastiest licks, JD Simo sounded different with that Slide Kirk - A real humble gentleman always Joe B - Same as before, not too exciting! Long live Blues 🙏
+Facundo Galvan What are you smoking? Simo has absolutely no feeling at all to his playing style. Its all mechanical and he acts like he never knows who the next note is.
@@israelarochena yeah, it's debatable. Purely on technical ability Josh Smith can run rings around Joe Bonamassa. If we're talking feel/emotion Dereck Trucks wipes the floor with almost anyone. If we're talking commercial success then Kenny Wayne Shepherd isnt miles behind Joe Bonamassa. I love Joe's playing, and it's all obviously subjective, but it's not so clear cut that he's "the greatest".
Don't know why, but Joe's sound seems to sit on top of the mix at certain points, whereas everyone else is IN it. For my money, JSmith has some of the greatest tone going these days. All masterful musicians, of course. And I'm a drummer :-)
+Shawn Tubbs Yup :) Here is the entire set that was played. Started off with just Josh & Kirk, then JD joined them, then Joe. It was the highlight of the cruise th-cam.com/play/PLODaFH8MEB-Qbp3lDykzUhlwIrGK2Y6P2.html
WOW...Now that is a Stage of Talent in the Blues Guitar World of Today! I have to get to one of these KTBA's!! Look what I'm (OR YOU) are missing! OK I'm going to shut up now and go play my Guitar!
I wish I could find a live version of him doing this like he did on the Black Rock album. He always slows it down when he does it live. I wonder if he ever did it like that. Probably the same reason Clapton always slows down Crossroads and has never done it quite like the original Cream version. They know that the original versions were such perfection they could never touch them.
Agree, his recorded version of this track on Black Rock is one of the first things I ever heard of his and it is an incredible performance... I've never seen any performance of him playing it at that tempo live. He could definitely play it at that tempo no problem - I just think that he must've decided that he liked this slower funkier thing a bit more... it works well with jamming situations like this but I'd love to hear a live version now that is at the same temp of the one on the Black Rock album.

@ Lisa Waters, sorry hon, but the words are wrong, it should say" I know your man was in the war, and I know he had it kinda rough, I don't know how many men he killed, but I think he done killed enough "
Joe should try focusing more on his creative playing and less on his "poker face" while playing. Fast runs get boring realy soon. Kirk and Josh realy played great stuff here.
+Joachim Eskildsen Correct. Where I am from (Philadelphia) we go nuts when the song ends not while the band is playing a soft part of the song. In Baltimore they interrupt the song with "I love you Joe" or "yeh!" In DC they talk to their neighbor while the band is playing. I saw Warren Haynes walk off the stage in DC - the audience was so bad. Philly and NYC are the best. Baltimore is the worst.
Its so cool that Now Both Josh Smith and Lemar Carter are In Joe's Band
Happy birthday jd!!!!!!!! From mark and Courtney in Washington.... love ya dude!!!!
I love JD Simo! That guy can jam
Great ! Wonderful ! God Bless America , expecially in these Days. Greetings from Italy.
Wow Simo is a player !
5:28. The first lick Josh plays in his solo. Wow.
Josh!!!! amazing fucking solo...
thanks for spreading the word about J.D. , Kirk , and Josh ;
most know about Joe B. ...
fine guitarists all .
It’s so badass that JD just went in with the slide instead of arms racing with Josh. Josh did his thing and then JD took it somewhere else and the two together made an awesome stretch of music
Watch JD Simo take everybody's lunch!!
Thank you for this good time
As always. The best quality videos
The artist jam was our favorite performance of the cruise. Thanks for capturing the moment!
Mighty Joe!!!!! great jam by all......

Hi, fantastic.
😎
Josh made the tastiest licks,

Go JD !!
Stratblooz JD killed Bonamassa, as Hendrix did with Clapton.

+ae186k you're an idiot
@@ae186k Tell me you know nothing about music without telling me.
Such great playing
Kirk & Josh ... WOW !!!
JB: at last, the most talented blues guitar player of his generation,
+israel arochena second
except the other three guys on stage with him... ;-)

they going down !
Nice to see Kirk playing a Strat. It suits him a great deal I think. Josh Smith really opened up nicely.

wonder how it feels to be the 4th best guitarist in that stage?
Probably pretty phenomenal lol
Ask Joe ;-)
Joe should try focusing more on his creative playing and less on his "poker face" while playing. Fast runs get boring realy soon.
Kirk and Josh realy played great stuff here.
They're all great but JD smoked everyone on that stage
No shirt, shetlock. He did EXACTLY the right thing - nobody's gonna out-macho Bonamassa, so Simo snuck in the back door. Metaphorically.
Why do people scream while the music plays? It's like spilling your beer on the Mona Lisa.

Too many notes joe
Is it just me or is Joe trying too hard to look cool. I mean some of the faces he pulled looked completely forced.
Yea JB not for me. Kirk and josh
I love Joe's playing but it's so cliche he bores me- unfortunately. I prefer Andy T or Eric Johnson or Joe Satriani.
Wait for Josh Smith's solo.
Too many notes joe
