Jack plays a lot of unmodified Squier Strats n Telescope n his tone is just amazing. I saw him in local clubs in Middle TN in the 80s. He played with the Alman Bros for a bit as well.
Jack just kills me with that Squier!! The cheapest guitar Fender makes, and this man makes it sing better than the best Custom Shop guitar ever made. Truly!! 🙏
Yep, and he's also using a plain old Fender Hot Rod Deville. I've read that Jeff Healey only played Squire Strats as well. It's proof that if you're a decent player and you know how to dial in the equipment, you can sound good without having to buy (and pay for) boutique / vintage gear ...!
@@MrMonkforfunkhe has a modified treble pick up tone pot but he uses stock the pickups. His magic is in the setup of the guitar. Dead perfect intonation and string height above the pickups.
I've been following JP for several years but suddenly he's on 'heavy rotation'. Lotsa smokin' hot guitar players out there but a smokin' hot musician who also is a smokin' hot guitar player is beyond words.
Jesus Christ Almighty... I'm 56 year's old and grew up listening to Mike Bloomfield, Peter Green, Jeff Beck, Clapton, Page, Roy Buchanan, Gary Moore, etc ... And I just heard of Jack Pearson tonight for the first time. What a treasure. What a gift. God bless America.
I stumbled on to Jack after I moved to Nashville 17 years ago. He was playing in local clubs a couple of nights per week. I saw him many times over the years before Covid when he stopped playing out. I love Jack, he is a wonderful guitar player and a very decent person. I kiss seeing him and wish he would come back out and play again.
Kirk is doing an awesome job here, really classic inventive lines, almost harmonica lines there. I know he's predominantly known for being the master of rythm playing. But wanted to show him some love too.
Witn all the hype of vintage guitars that cost more than many himes, Jack makes an $85.00 Squire sound like a million dollars! He and Josh Smith are two guitar players that deserve allot more recognition!
Been watching Jack since he played with the Allman Brothers. When Dickey first auditioned him, he said that they either needed to hire Jack, or take lessons from him. Haha. What a treasure. First saw Josh when he was a teen doing SRV covers, he was smoking then, but didn't sing. Great show then and now.
Jack Pearson is a MASTER. Anytime he touches the guitar is magic. He might be unknown to most of the people but inside the music bis every guitarist pay respect to him. I LOVE Jack Pearson
JP is so comfortable playing all this brilliant stuff, singing and communicating with the band and audience, it's like he's just put on his favourite slippers and sat down to sip his morning coffee while reading the Sunday paper funnies.
Even though I play metal blues and finger style...most of G3 is not watchable...this is amazing at 7:12 Jack is comping Piano Style Jazz Blues and Looks at Josh just where most players repeat themselves and Josh goes elsewhere and then Jack gets more involved pushing him on, and the band and just betting into watching and listening, and to go really outside and it's amazing...no small order to play after Jack, even for one of Josh's calibre and Josh does some really inspired blue there. He is amazing. As a guitar head and blues fan this is as good as it gets for this style of blues and lineup. Just awesome.
Sumbagun that would have been a fun cruise. I started watching Kirk & Josh 2 yrs ago. Was a NAMMI or guitar shop video. Yet to see them live. They seem so enchanted together and I think it passes on to those with them.
The real thing would be Robben Ford and Jack Pearson on stage together. Don`t they both stay in Nashville? Hopefully their paths will cross some day and we can watch it on TH-cam.
I don't know who is who but the guy on the left is amazing and the other two are just about as amazing. An amazing fusion of jazz-rock and blues. I've never seen three guitarists this great assembled all at once. I think I might have to sell my guitars. Everyone keeps commenting on Jack Pearson, but they're all as good as it gets, in my humble opinion.
Every time I watch this video, it puts a big smile on my face. My feet start tapping and my body starts dancing in my chair. Smooth as smooth can be. Jack really respects these musicians. Love this performance. In the pocket and groovin' all the way downtown and back uptown.
jack is like the sensei of guitar playin', josh is the modern day blues warrior and kirk's rhythm and phrasing is so deeply rooted in the blues like only a few have! best guitar trio ever!! backing band & sax is superb too!
All the greats like Jack have that ability to sound like he is about to fall off a building...but at the last second he snatches himself back upright....🎸🎸🎸
En este blues Jack Pearson muestra todos los recursos y vocabulario destacando sus escalas jazzísticas en una simple Squier, demostrando q el sonido está en sus manos. 🎸
Jack Pearson ... man, that guy can sing AND play that guitar like nobodies business! Talk about a double trouble threat, and so laid back about the whole thing. WOW!!!
Jack plays a squier and slams the audience with a monster tone! Great players can make any guitar sing. Jack is such an absolute genius on guitar! 😮😮❤🎉🎉
I'd never heard of Jack until I moved to the 'States, specifically North Carolina, Greensboro working on a project for EMI/Capitol. I first heard Jack and then decided to live here - so blame him! Best, Pete.
The tone he gets out of that thing is incredible. Obviously the players hands are important, but watching interviews with Jack I also think it’s the setup, and the knowledge of how to tweak things to get your sound.
I agree. Josh and Kirk know a million licks, but in taste and creativity Pearson is way above them. It's no shame not to be as good as him, so this is no knock on the other two.
I saw Jack Pearson with the Allman Brothers Band in 1998 where he held a note sustaining for nearly 5 minutes ! He was playing with one of my heroes Dickey Betts "The Ramblin' Man" himself ! They were both on Strats which was very unusual for Dickey I thought and probably one the best "Guitar Duels" ever ! Everything was smoking hot that night the bass player (Oteil Burbridge )did one of the best solo's ever he is good ! It was nearly 4 hours long and Jack & Dickey even did an acoustic set !!!!!!! I had never saw Jack before and thought Warren Haynes was going to be playing ? I was pleasantly surprised....Hands down, the best guitar concert in my life everyone was recording at this venue it was 98 degrees that day and Dickey said, It's usually cold up here in "Snow Country" on the lake (With his Cowboy hat on) It was a 2 night run at Jacobs Pavilion @ Nautica Stage Cleveland ,Ohio... Tickets were only $35.00.. Wanted to go back the second night but could not make it.... Drove thru the whole state to get there from South Point, Ohio.... Those are the memories that make you a wealthy soul.....Great time !!!!!!
Some stellar playing going on here all the way around. I had never heard of Josh Smith a year ago and I think he is a strong contender for my favorite contemporary player.
I recently discovered Jack Pearson and I’m so glad I did......what an amazing trio along with Kirk and Josh.... and wish I could give more of these in the post.... 👍👍👍👍👍

So good. I just heard about Jack from Rhett Shull, and I’m glad I saw his video. This guy is amazing. It seems that both Josh and Kirk recognized that mastery and gave way. And Kirk, he kept trying to hand it back to Jack and Jack just prodded him to keep playing.
Jack's first note is the "Holy Grail" of guitar players. Every guitar player on the planet strives to hit THAT note and hold it... like THAT!!! One of the reasons most of us started playing
Regardless of what his strats cost, he has by far atleast for my ear the absolute best strat tone of all time and of of the best any guitar tones ever....his vibe just flows like no other player I can think of....
J. Riff yep. He walks through the shop twanging strings and feeling the headstock to see how it hums. Picks one that really sustains and then.... does that. Legend

He’s simply outstanding
