Fiat Cinquecento Proto P2 w/ Kawasaki ZX10-R Superbike engine racing on track!

- Proto P2 cars are a sort of covered go-karts with a very low weight and powered by motorcycle-derived engines which makes them very agile and suitable for slalom races and for tiny and little circuits. Generally they are homemade by enthusiasts but there are specialized companies who build these fun track-toys.
In this video you can see a pretty crazy and fast Fiat Cinquecento powered by a Kawasaki ZX10-R 1000cc engine during the 2018 Challenge del Lupo at Castelletto Circuit!
Formula Challenge is an Italian series taking place on permanent circuits or on arranged ones (dirt, tarmac or mixed). Races are chase races in which the cars start at preset intervals. The type of the circuit must be such as to provide an average speed not over 80 km/h. The final classification is drawn up to the sum of the times resulting in the two best heats of the race (out of 3) discarding the worst.

Have to say cars like that i like more then a Lambo, Ferrari or anything else. Those guys put a lot of afford in these cars. My highest respect

and total parts costs are probably still below a routine checkup of a Ferrari ;) Excluding the often years people spend building these... which doesn not stop them from driving the wheels of them :D
Mind you Honda cars from the 90's were small, lightweight and high reving.
It's a completely different game for road car manufacturers, they have to deal with regulations etc. and sell the car to customers. They also put alot of work into it, but it's different.
Normal Fiat 126p with modified engine and suspension can win against Lancer Evo or Impreza STI on a very tight, low speed stage. On this track this CC would beat the Lambo.

Oh my sweet God ! I got VW Gold mk2 1992. But i did some big upgrades and now from fabric 130 hp it has 250 hp. A lot of efforts spent in that project. I'm a proud owner !

Well of course he’s gonna have a completely custom fabricated exhaust. Plus I assume he turned it to handle the new exhaust and have better power delivery for a car like this

Unfortunately, while changing the final drive is easy, it's a ton of work to go into a motor and change the gearing. On a motorcycle, these bikes do 100 mph in first and get to 180 in 6th. If this car were geared to do 100, he'd still do 60 in first. That's another 5 gears in 40 mph or one per 8mph. Ouch
@@nathanbaeyens2856 ya thats what I'm saying. Idk how sequential gear boxes are set up tuning wise but ya it definitely needs a longer gear.
theres no room in that car for an inline setup into a diff, it will certainly be using sprockets so very easy to change final drive. my view as a kart racer is his steering is too slow to compensate for the over tyreing thats compensating for the under gearing and excessive rear wheel span, looks like it handles like a dog to me. Hes having fun, is all that matters and yes im jealous :p
I'm guessing that it's impossible to drive the car in anything other than "Maximum Attack".

Those gear ratios are so close, when would you even know when to shift? I guess it's just intuitive with enough experience.
I dont think they're close, he's just short shifting the fuck out of it to probbably not blow the engine up on spin the tyres to dust 😂
It looks like hard work, but the gearing has to be partly optimised for the specific needs of the motorbike engine. Cool Cool car though!!!!

It has no suspension at all, like a go cart.
thats not good because that chassis is bending and twisting under that heavy load.

What kind of Gearbox does he use? It seems thats the original Motorbike Gearbox.

Is the powerband 200 RPMs? There is a lot of time and attention being used to constantly shift that is taking away from actual driving and accelerating and optimal steering. Cool car though. You know its fast when the inside wheels come off in the corners, the Jettas I used to race against at the speedway used to do that and they always won.
A Race vs. a KZ Shifter Kart would be nice :)
Tight. I read some of the comments about gear ratio’s etc. But honestly, personally I’m glad I don’t really get that shit because it looks like a massive amount of fun. I wish I had one. And, did you see the way he smoked that Turbo’d 500. Boom! I’d be buzzin off that move for weeks afterwards.. Mint

When your gear box don't chill live the siqentcill gear box indicator couldn't even start to think that bloke did for the engine to cope with the extra weight of the shell and that gear box surely can't be stock even on the bike there a little longer a lot of work on that mad fun thing

Questa 500 deve diventare famosa. Il pilota è spettacolare e il suono dello scarico è una musica, sopratutto per come il pilota usa cambio e acceleratore. Uno spettacolo unico al pari della vecchia Formula 1 per me. Incredibile!

It's looks like it has a solid axel like karts, looks solid and there's no damping individually per corner, , maybe that why he lift the front tire

The car needs a little bit softer bars, or reduced bar leverage.
A proper performance car would love to see it on the street up against the £40000 plus so call high performance cars the like of BMW M/benz etc.
That's a stupid comparison because those are luxury cars that offer much more than just going around the corner at that speed
