Having already experienced the best that video games have to offer is definitely a weird thought to swallow, but we’re lucky to never really know what’s coming next. There’s always excitement for games on the horizon, just as there was for Outer Wilds at one point.
It’s such a beautiful piece on its own, but with the weight of the game’s story behind it, it’s elevated even more! Prahlow did such a fantastic job on the soundtrack!
If you don’t have the time to play, can I recommend Playframe? He does a full playthrough, finds all the lore, and does occassional lore catchup timeline stuff. This game had such an effect on me and the song does bring me to tears but in a good way.
If you enjoy the song so much, I highly recommend playing the game, it really adds to the song, and there are many incredible soundtracks in the game and the dlc. BTW, in case you haven't heard already, go into the game with as little knowledge about it as possible. If u already know the story that's ok too, but it's better the less you know, in case you ever wanted to play.

First of all, this was amazing, well done to everyone involved! the flute part really made me want to pick up flute again. Second - this piece in particular always makes me cry. There's a lot of impactful moments in the game, but when I lined up all the instrument frequencies for the first time? Just undid something in me. This performance captured that perfectly.

I couldn’t help myself! I’ve been thinking about the game practically non-stop since I beat it, and as soon as I heard this piece in the game I knew I had to round up some friends to get it recorded! I’m really glad you liked it! I knew from the start that I wanted to go all out on this, and with how big of an Outer Wilds fan you came across as from the End Times cover, I was excited for you to see this one!
This version makes me sadder because even as the embers of the universe began to dim, cooled by the frigid hands of entropy, the travelers still played together until they couldn't anymore. This version is as if each of them dying removes a voice, forgotten by the campfire, as the night grows long.
I’ll be the first to admit that wasn’t the reason behind the creative choice, but that does make me view that part of the video a lot differently, and in a good way. There’s something solemnly beautiful about their only concern being to play music together until their own universe no longer lets them. Thanks for the amazing comment!
