Some guy did beat Dodge's record with a (claimed) stock 170 running an 8.8. What's even crazier is that this car goes this fast....pulling the front end off ground. Truly an all-American car.
Way to go!! Under these conditions, you would smoke a Plaid and give a Lucid Air Sapphire a run for its money. The noise during those runs was awesome.
Congrats! It's always great to break your own record, and be better (60 ft) or equal to the benchmark (so close to the Dodge time). You've got skills! Those wheelies would scare the poop out of most of us (my mind would say - lift lift lift!).
So glad you kept the 170! I do think you'd run even faster with Hoosier DBR's though, they are much lighter than the MT's (approx. 15 lbs. per tire lighter) and hook up way better as well. Great job driving RacerX, and thank you for the excellent video!
You should definitely be happy with the results! A 9.04 @154.45 in the quarter in the muggy Florida air is spectacular. Also, great job on sticking with things while the first engine was getting replaced under warranty. As you mentioned before, that was a tough time, but you stuck it out and now the car is running as close to perfect as possible!
It's not muggy in FL these days, we are getting hit by a cold front as well like 30 to 40 pct humidity, plus we have much lower elevation than Michigan, so this is about as good of a da you can get, maybe a little colder but not much
The track times Mopar claims their cars will run can easily be duplicated or even beat with ideal track conditions and good driving. RacerX just proved that. Many Challenger 1320 owners have as well. They were advertised to be 11.7 second cars. My bone stock '22 1320's best ET is 11.81 with a track DA of 2,000 on a hot summer day. That calculates to 11.5 at sea level, a full 2/10's faster than advertised. Way to go Dodge!
Props for not doing what tons of other people do...putting Cleetus in your title or thumbnail for clicks. Or posting his times. I respect that. Sweet car though. Something tells me that Dodge may have had some trans tuning to run that time. They were a 10th faster than you to the 1/8th with a slower 60ft.
That was an amazing day, I shouted when you did your first wheelie! I'm impressed with your 9.04 time, much better than I expected, given you haven't tuned it yet. Florida Winter is here and hopefully you can easily get into the 8's!
Nice job Racer-x... you really yanked the front end on those last two passes... so close to the 8's... as you said some really good DA and you're there!
Man that looks like fun car sounds great pulling big wheelies that's got to put a massive smile on your face. Beating Dodge's 60 foot time step one for sure. You need to take it to Texas and race Herman. I would love to see that X. GO BUCKS!!
Wow , I bet that made you happy after everything you’ve been through. Amazing runs, the wheelie was outstanding, I even showed my wife lol, I’m sure she didn’t care, lol
That is so BADASS!!!!!! Putting Micky Thomson radial front runners and demon air grabber hood on my RT. Looking forward to seeing if it makes a difference at the track.
Great job Racer X. I can't wait to test out my Demon 170 up here in Canada at either Cayuga or Mosport speedway to see if I can get in the low 9's as well. Keep up the good work!
@@RacerX9 Can't wait. Just need to get my hands on E85 gas to get max horsepower without having to cross the border. E85 is no longer available in Canada and right now I'm only getting 670hp on 94 Octane up here. The boys over at Radford Racing (was there in Dec for the 2 day Demon course) said that I need to get it checked out since they think it's too low for 94 Octane (shows E9% on the dash). Perhaps due to a cross border adjustment to make it street legal up here? Not sure but I'll have to investigate further. Curious - have you heard about this from other Canadian 170 owners?
Congrats, I'd be very pleased with those runs. The car is picking up a solid 30 mph in the back half, and the 60' is there, the 330' in better DA is where you are going to drop your et to the 1/8 mile. Would you mind sharing what your IC cluster showed for the ethanol content on these passes, and what was the injector duty cycle, and did it go into cat over temp. Maybe try a second gear launch next time, that will slow down the 60' a little, however it may tame the wheel stand and net a faster et. Thanks
Agreed the car was almost doing too big of a wheelie, which might be hurting my time to the 330.. just trying to gather up momentum after the rebound. Unfortunately I can do a second gear launch without tuning it.. the 170 kicks you out of 2nd in track mode. Ethanol was reading 78% but I didn’t check the log for injector duty cycle .. I am fairly certain based on how it was running that it did not go into cat over temp
@@RacerX9 As I understand it, just before you pre stage activate the line lock while in track mode, paddle shift into second gear, then release the OK button, creep forward and stage the car. It should then think it's doing a burnout and will stay in second gear. I haven't tried it yet in mine as it's in storage, however I'm sure it will work, you can try it on the street to test the theory.
I’m happy for you that you got a “stock” untuned 170 to run that quick and consistent with your last 2 runs. I had stopped following everyone who was trying to get their 170’s within a half second of the 170 that Dodge used in their advertisement. It seems as all the cars launched the same, a initial hit with the wheels up and as soon as they landed it instant wheel spin. You looked like you’ve got the tune that the new motor likes. Maybe 8’s next time, keep at it.
You know that top fuel cars get rebuilt during a race, right? Their break in is going down the 1/4 mile. Kinda the same for all drag cars where their break in is running it down the strip after letting it run for a few minutes to make sure it has no leaks or issues.
Very impressive both you and the car. I think next time with right weather you can do it. You are so close and have already out-launched them. I noticed last run the MPH was slightly lower, maybe it cuts a tiny bit of power for large wheelies? Sounded bit like it was hunting a gear when it happened. One factor to consider with the alu vs CF wheels, is the inertia on the rim/edges might be lower with CF, while the weight around spokes might be higher.
Your final pass was great. I feel like you'd be all over 8.90's if the transmission would hold 4th gear another hundred feet or so as long as you get the 60' goals. Adjustable shocks and a transmission tune would be next before a pulley swap. Enjoy the car.
I like racer x and I’m glad he’s finally seeing some success. Yahoo! I never knew he was into violence, but those launches…he’s a baaad man! I’m finishing up a 69 Camaro with a 750hp 540bbc and shooting for 10.0@135 with a 75 shot. It lets me also run the road course na and then the 1/2 mile with a little gas. If all I was gonna do was 1/4 mile I’d get it set up with a 300 shot and go looking for 8’s as well. Forward Ho racer X!
Congratulations 🍾 Where are all the bench racers now that were driving from their computer and mouth that you couldn’t wheel your car? I’m really happy for you that not only you beat Dodges 60 foot, yet served many a massive plate of crow …
Congratulations!! That’s a fantastic PB… if possible I think getting your hands on the carbon fiber rims would be worth it just to get rid of any asterisks people will want to put on your times. Happy this engine is performing as expected, that first engine definitely wasn’t working right from day 1.

Adjust tire pressure!
Use SHELL 93 gasoline!
That wheelie was BADASS!
You should get a nice pic of your car pulling that big wheelie and put it on your wall. That was impressive!!
Man that demon sounds absolutely insane with the seats removed 😂

Amazing results! Congrats, RacerX!!

Not even close
So happy for you. That 60’ is great! Finally your car is ready to put the Plaid away. I definitely want to see a rematch with Brooks.
Wow them launches were impressive and the wheelie was insane that's how you know the cars got some power
It's pure madness that a factory car goes that fast.
Awesome job 9.04

Racerx them hooiser SBR must be some new slicks
@MarcoJordan-v1b Sorry, that was a typo. It should have been Hoosier DBR (drag bracket radial). Good catch lol...
Bad ass wheelie X!!!!

9.0s😮, I'm happy to see those numbers 👍

Dannng! Good for you brother 👍🏼
You deserve the rewards by having an amazingly faster car
Definitely something to be happy about. It was a long way to get here but you got here. Now it is all about chasing their time slip!
Maaaan just wanted to say thanks for the content my brotha keep chipping away at that 8 we need to see that.
Awesome runs, really getting it to hook makes a huge difference, your getting it dialed in.
The demon 170 did extremely amazing!!! Great numbers! Keep up the great work!

Haha probably not but that’s okay 👍
Man this video was exciting! Got me hyped for a private track rental at Texas motorplex this weekend 😂 that wheelie was badass and so close to that 8!
That is so BADASS!!!!!!

Super impressive! A bit better DA and you have that 8.9X
Demon 170’s are impressive for a production vehicle. 8 sec capable factory drag car. Congrats on the PR!
Wow nice run!! Yeah you should get a large picture of that wheelie on your wall. That’s actually magazine cover material.
Love the wheelie shot!
HOW COOL WAS THAT!!!!!! So cool man👊 absolutely love these kind of videos. Great work X🤘
Great passes! Nice wheelie! You will be in the 8s soon!
Good day of racing thanks for taking us along!
Congratulations, you deserve all of it awesome 👍👍👍
Plaid baby! ⚡️🇺🇲

PROOF that proper engine break in WORKS

Yeah, once they build your replacement the *correct* way so it doesn't blow up on TH-cam again.
Amazing how close you are to dodge factory run....that vehicle is a beast🔥 nice to see someone prove it can be done with a stock vehicle 🔥
This car is incredible for a stock factory production car!
