It’s crazy that I used to see these guys at house shows in high school. I went from seeing them in basements to actual venues and I couldn’t be happier for them. They’re such good guys
That is so cool!! I just recently found this band and would give anything to see them at a basement show. I am so into their sound and I bet seeing them live was so genuine.
@@Ghoulerie sadly, you will never hear anything as good as this album with whatever they put out for the future, and if you see them live hoping for them to maybe play at least one song from this album, you better dreaming about it than even hoping for it + to make everything even more good, frontmane a not so good guy that cant take actual criticism and calls their fans a bunch of teenagers who dont want changes. I highly recommend you listening to greatest hit and all their old stuff, if you like their new stuff, good for ya mane, just sad to see them fall into that kind of stuff. Oh and now that i remember, they kicked off the drummer from this album for absolutely no reason, even tho it was their best drummer they ever had. Just bad decision after bad decision, its really sad to see them fall of sad bad, especially that even tho they did fell off i still consider them my fav band, just cant handle them anymore
@@roacheat335 def not for no reason, tons of shit going on during tour that justify the kick, and changing your sound as you mature is GOING TO HAPPEN, you have to keep in mind Erik was literally like 16 when he started this band, of course their taste is going to evolve and change, each album has done exactly this so its expected of the band. I know Erik and dudes definitely not a bad dude by any means, you're gonna piss people off the more noise you make for yourself, its a given.
This record is fun, creative, and definitely deserving of an 8. I didn't really notice any problems with the mixing or syncopation while listening but even if there is, there were a bunch of indie rock records in the 90s that had bad mixings and they're still praised. It's b/c at the end of the day it comes down to the SONGS, which are great on this album.
honestly I think the points where the guitar and drums don't line up perfectly are nice because it feels more natural, more raw, and less calculated which I think this album heavily benefits from. I do agree with most of your points tho, it's an 8/10 for me
Idk melon, I can appreciate that you have high standards for emo revival but I would argue that, as artists, musicians should feel free to express themselves in the ways that they see fit. That's not to say that they shouldn't push themselves and continue to grow as musicians, but I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with sounding like generic emo if it comes from a place of catharsis and/or authenticity. You may have already addressed this perspective before, but that's just me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If you enjoyed this record, I encourage you to check out the debut albums both Vagabon(Infinite Words) and Jay Som(Everybody Works). Both got great reviews from Pitchfork and I really enjoyed their albums
thank you so much for using your platform to promote a talented, deserving, smaller band. they deserve so much recognition for their incredible music!!
i met Erik (Vox/Guitar) when his solo project Focus Ring was opening for Jeff Rosenstock's acoustic tour last year. He's a real talented guy and a hell of a song writer. Enjoyed Greatest Hits a whole lot.
If I made a top 10 tracks of the year so far 2 songs on this album would be on it and 2 more would be very much in the conversation. That being said, the rest of the album hardly compared to those 4 tracks for me, so I'm absolutely on board with the 7/10. Still, one hell of a debut.
The Time's What Time Is It? is what I am looking forward to this RSD. I really liked this album. Thank you Anthony for recommending this to your viewers.
I tagged the album as a soft grunge album, not as a total emo, it has variety on structural composition and instrumental on their music, it's not pop punk, but has influence on it, it's not emo but has the influence
The "recorded in the garage" sound recording you're probably referring to is that drum solo on hunting for sports And I'm 100% it's supposed to sound like that
I'm not sure what you are talking about with the production. The album was mixed by Jack Shirley, who has done work for Deafheaven and Loma Prieta. I think his muddier production style went well with the album, so I am surprised you didn't like it since you like a lot of noise rock.
A little late on this post; but I actually enjoyed the rawer sound of the record. Kinda gives it more of a punk feel in my opinion. I definitely hear the Weezer especially in some of the guitar riffs.
Just found this band earlier this week on my recommended. Pretty good if i may say so myself. Oh and Ma Fleur by The Cinematic Orchestra for RSD17 and maybe that Coheed record
Dude you literally said exactly what I was thinking at one point. It sounds like they just got done listening to weezer, nirvana, the get up kids, and maybe even bush. (Or at least he looks like the guy from bush anyway lol) It's a great album though honestly and only $9 on iTunes!
Crash test rating had a problem I feel like plenty of their songs in the past had. They try to go for this specific sound and then midway or towards the end they slow it down and it becomes this messy “I got too tired to finish my essay so here’s a bunch of word vomit” type of sound.
God going to HS in Bloomington right after these guys started getting some traction meant almost every one of my lil emo friends would be blasting their shit constantly.
Hey Anthony. Was wondering if you could name examples of the kind of post hardcore bands you were talking about who failed at reviving anything because of being too reliant on stream of consciousness writing and weak riffs
Have you given the new Sorority Noise record a listen yet? "You're Not As _____ As You Think" is getting a lot of acclaim and I'm curious about your take on it
Hello, I'm having a really hard time with cartridge alignment. My turntable is the Audio-Technica ATLP120. I have the Audio-Technica AT100E cartridge. I'm trying to align this cartridge with the Loefgren B protractor. I can't seem to get the cartridge square and every time I think I do it either doesn't look right on the other grid or I'm a bit paranoid and think it's out of line in one area. I just can't seem to get it right no matter which protractor I use. I need help. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Is there a good video out there explaining this? Anything at all? Thanks in advance.
Anthony have you ever heard Awkward Pop Songs by Jank? If any emo album deserves album of the year it is definetly that one. Altho it is almost 2 years old now.
I know! It sucks! I'm not exactly sure what happened. I know Ruben, their bassist, left. I also remember reading somewhere that their being some issue with an appearent sexual assault one of the members got involved with? I'm not exactly sure. But I hope they can find another bassist or get back together. I'm just happy I was able to see em live before they disbanded.
Wonder Bread they addressed it in a letter to their fans. The singer/guitarist had a few drunk nights with this girl and they had sex multiple times. the girl claimed she never wanted to have sex and that she was too drunk to say no. the singer/guitarist said he didn't know because she never directly said no. That's basically what happened.
in my opinion, this is one of the best debuts i've heard in a while. 9/10
I really enjoyed the album, but i fully agree with the 7/10
timy19979 Emo kid.

This is a good ass album fandango, thank you!! Easy 8/10 from me
To me this deserves at least a 9/10. They're on to something!
Shane McNealy agreed
And then their second album came out
*Cricket noises*
Remo Drive are cool, I went to high school with those lads in Bloomington.

I can't believe Fantano is going to rank a mashup album among his top 10. Honestly it's so novelty, I wouldn't listen to it more than a couple times
I wouldn't listen to it more than a couple times but the first time was orgasmic and monumental
honestly I think the points where the guitar and drums don't line up perfectly are nice because it feels more natural, more raw, and less calculated which I think this album heavily benefits from. I do agree with most of your points tho, it's an 8/10 for me
Review Hippo Campus!!! They're another band from MN!!
Michael Coholich yeah! Would be cool
Hell Yeah. ✌
AY, It's pretty cool seeing a hometown band gets some attention.
I'm from Bloomington too. just heard about them
My favorite album of the year so far.
zane u an EMO BOI!
zane Ya dang emo kid
Zane damm emo kid
I think they just need a solid engineer to tighten up their sound and they'll be MUCH better. Still one of my favorite bands rn.
it sounds the way i feel
The Audiotree engineer did his homework

Review Paul Joseph Watson's new record!

I miss this remo drive 🥲
melon head are you kidding me 4/10 when you gave Speeding Bullet 2 heaven a 10??
Caelan K ha...ha.......h.....a
This band defines literally everything he complained about at the beginning of the review?????
thank you so much for using your platform to promote a talented, deserving, smaller band. they deserve so much recognition for their incredible music!!
They mentioned Fantano in the credits of the vinyl lol
oh shit you're right i didn't even notice haha
I agree with the 7, maybe would have gave it like a 7.5 but that might just be because I haven't enjoyed an Emo album in a very long time.
honestly man, i love your channel. can't ever catch all the videos, but i dig your opinions.
Where the Tiny Moving Parts reviews at Affordable Care Act?
i met Erik (Vox/Guitar) when his solo project Focus Ring was opening for Jeff Rosenstock's acoustic tour last year. He's a real talented guy and a hell of a song writer. Enjoyed Greatest Hits a whole lot.

This is a straight up flawless album. It’s my album of the decade next to Joyce Manor Cody
How did you not mention Strawberita? One of my fav tracks on this thing
Are you going to review the new Mount Eerie album?
Complete waste he's going to, apparently it took him a while to work up to listening.
Duncan Wright 0
Duncan Wright I understand. That album almost made me cry
Yes I'm an Emo kid and this is my aoty atm. Probably will continue to be until kendrick drops his project
he called it, it’s been my album of the year since it’s release.
The Time's What Time Is It? is what I am looking forward to this RSD. I really liked this album. Thank you Anthony for recommending this to your viewers.

glad I watched this review, liking the Yer Killin' Me vid a ton and gonna listen to the rest of this.
Definitely my favorite debut album I've heard in recent memory
I'd like to see Hipo Campus' "Landmark" here. Pretty experimental stuff.
Does anyone think that he should review Hippo Campus?
Fantano you fucking gave me a heart attack when you mentioned In Utero
Yo Fantana, please do a classic review of Generic Flipper, it's my favorite album of all time and it would make me moist behind my ears
The "recorded in the garage" sound recording you're probably referring to is that drum solo on hunting for sports
And I'm 100% it's supposed to sound like that
Awesome references of American Football, Get Up Kids and such because I definitely hear it here. Great review my friend
Like the album but agree about the production, it's a little too quiet.
Good review.... Anthonys not going to review 50 Song Memoir. :(

For some reason my mind reads Remo Drive as Romeo Drive
A little late on this post; but I actually enjoyed the rawer sound of the record. Kinda gives it more of a punk feel in my opinion. I definitely hear the Weezer especially in some of the guitar riffs.
Thoughts or a review planned for Creepers debut album? Would love to hear your opinion.
yeah he said on yt that Pinkerton got him through high school lol
Never really listened to Emo before but I found this record pretty rad
Just found this band earlier this week on my recommended. Pretty good if i may say so myself. Oh and Ma Fleur by The Cinematic Orchestra for RSD17 and maybe that Coheed record
I would probably give it a light 8 personally but I definitely see where you're coming from with the production, it could have been better.
Can you please review the debut album from the U.K. punk band Creeper, Eternity In Your Arms?
New Remo Drive album dropped today? Review???
kinda sucks though unfortunately
Thanks for boosting these guys here and in the GREAT ALBUMS video. I'm loving this album. I smell the next Weezer.
This is a rollercoaster of emotions. You start positive then rant and then positive and then suicidal.

I thank you, Melon, for introducing me to Remo (Our Emo?) Drive.
Yo yo yo when are we gonna have that Mount Eerie review?

A live review of Kendricks work coming out soon would be cool as hell.
I'm really happy this got reviewed. Loved the single you hyped up so glad to hear the rest was also good
Can you review the self titled Blink-182 album? Just a little throwback review. I'm curious on what you think about it.
I read that they actually recorded the album at home.
They didnt mix it though.
i was thinkin more of a strong 7 to a light 8
Great stuff from these guys. Especially for a debut.

Danny Brown's Ain't It Funny, but sadly I'm out of the country for RSD
Art School kind of reminds me of the Toadies, especially Rubberneck
Are you going to do a review of Smino's BlkSwn? Its probably my favorite album this year so far.
Anthony have you ever heard Awkward Pop Songs by Jank? If any emo album deserves album of the year it is definetly that one. Altho it is almost 2 years old now.

Skepta named his debut album 'Greatest Hits' ten years ago.
Those Dam Emo Kids is the next best name for a band, I guarantee you that.
I don't even know 95% of bands you talk about I just like to hear you talk and rate, and the memes
Pretty sure it is self recorded too which is DOPE!
Fuck, ACA really went in on that lil roast.
