We've seen this Syclone before and it may be the coolest one we've ever laid eye on! They twin brothers came down to H-Town Throwdown to race in THREE different classes! Not only that, they hurt their motor (the 4.3 v6 that are from the factory) so they threw in the new 6.6. LT motor with a turbo just for the event. Don't get it twisted though, they miss the v6 and it'll surely be back and we cannot wait to see this thing again with the REAL setup.

I believe there is an aftermarket company that makes a billet aluminum block 4.3 it would be nice if they got one of those they even make a 5.0 stroker kit for those billet blocks

It’s not a 4.3 anymore it’s LT based with LS heads. 6.6l
4.3 is just a 350 with 2 cylinders chopped off, there is no advantage to running one, at all.

Here in hawaii we call Um hardbodys
An autobody shop has a mint typhoon with low kms sitting in there showroom. Thing is showroom quality with original window stickers. I stare at it for minutes when I'm there.
@@smokajoint808 I thought hardbodys were older nissans? I had an 86.5 long bed hardbody.
The Typhoon was the first Sport SUV imo, it was only 400 lbs heavier than the Syclone because of the rear section, so it was just a tad slower than the Syclone on the strip. Same mods done but with a slightly heavier package. Aftermarket mods done correctly, a super sleeper.
Only vehicle I want more than a Typhoon or Syclone is the Dodge Shelby Omni GLHS. Carroll Shelby had a 550 HP Dodge Shelby Omni GLHS that he claimed was his favorite daily driver.
Another sleeper I would love is the Mazda 323 GTX Turbo 4WD, a detuned rally car with around 1250 sold in the US. All you gotta do is up the boost to 14 lbs and you have a 12 second car with no physical mods for less than $5000.

The fact that its still running the stock transfer case and diffs is insanely impressive.
I worked at a machine shop years ago and my boss had a Pontiac Fiero with a 4.3. It had a cut and welded v8 crank, a Turbo from a Detroit diesel, 10" corvette wheels with the center cut out and stock Fiero centers welded in, and tons of other work. I saw it stand straight up the first Track run then go a 5:98 in the 1/8th. I had fun helping build it.

Did a stock 5.3 in a fiero. 11.70 in the 1/4.
He always did the stuff that made people say, "why". Because he could! He also had a Ford Courier with a 2.3 Ford 4cyl. Cut the ports out, used epoxy to reshape them and it was turbo. Thing ran low 5's and supposedly high 4's but I only got to see pics of it.
My dad's friend still has a Syclone, I'm 35 and heard the stories of my dad racing him in his Mustang GT back in the day when I was a child. I see the Syclone every so often. He has it in storage with a Grand National aswell

These guys are from my town. I remember seeing it back when it had the 4.3 in it, ripping past my house with the straight pipe.
The 4.3 turbo is just the perfect package for that size truck and awd. I've always wanted one and have had a few s10's over the years but never could afford the turbocharger.
Youll be amazed at wat a little Mitsubishi or Subaru junkyard turbo will do for ya. They wont push 45 psi but itll get you some fun rips for sure.
There's some good ebay turbos for cheap that hold up good.
But if you can't afford the turbo, probably won't be able to afford the rest of the setup, plus fuel system and injectors plus tuning.

@@codeack101wlck they said a few times this was just a fun motor while the original 4.3 was out for repair. I'd bet money they have a 4.3 back in it soon the way they talked. I seen a comment saying the 4.3 that was in it they were maken 1400hp and it was y they kept saying the v6 was better throw the video.
@@tylerrobertst-rob1731 ya thats exactly it. I could afford a cheap ebay turbo, but to do a turbo on a none turbo truck isn't just buying a cheap turbo off ebay. And finding or maken the turbo header is hard or and expensive. Plus intercooler, piping, injectors, fuel pump and a computer to control everything adds up real fast.
So cool to see these guys get featured on 1320video! I've had the chance to talk to them about their 4.3 setup, even look at it in person and it is truly amazing to see what they have been able to do with it. This truck rolls out and is extremely impressive!

Dont feel bad.. It was the same for me last summer when I talked to a guy with a 4wd full size van. He said 6.6 n gas. I thought he was full of sheot. Man I was wrong
These guys are from out in bismarck. Awhile back I was gonna run them in my built r35, and I’m glad I didn’t. That cyclone is a monster.
When he said 6.6 Lt with ls heads I was shocked. Never thought that'd be a thing, let alone those 6.6 blocks be good for anything. And he's hauling!
Those guys are awesome! They crack me up. Yeah the Vortec 4.3 was legendary.
I've had a few. Wouldn't call them legendary at all.

@@manworksgarage compare to today's v6's no but back then they were the best engine period! I had a 1500 with that engine and today it's still cracking with 320 thousand miles on it, my sonhasit. LEGENDARY!
@@igotursixx2665 I've had a Ford 4.6 hit 435k. A 5.3 vortec hit 420+ and a 454 hit 435. The earlier 4.3 would probably last longer but the 96+ have too many issues. Idk

I use to have a S10 Xtreme back in the days. 4.3 always wanted a turbo but could never afford it. Even with the 4.3 I was taking on Silverados and eating them up.

1:45 Hopefully they decide to keep it V6 powered since that was it's whole allure and claim to fame. They could go with the LS/ LT based 4.3L V6 called LV3 from 12-21 Silverado's. Scoggin- Dickey has turbo charged a few and offers various camshafts.
That truck is nasty when it settles in. That fox on the bad battery run was on a effin mission though!! holy hell. Then the cobalt blue one on the next class run was one sexy ass racecar. It really helps even it all out. Ford from 16-46 and just went full-blown ls the world. But the fox still has my heart as far as a race car. So many 250hp foxes still around town that do pretty good against most stuff out there.
I read the title as "the twin brothers" (referring to twin turbo's) and it took about 30% of the video for me to realize they're twin brothers, lol
The 4.3 is a 350 minus 2 holes . It's solid.

Doug Aber and Vengeance Racing did the same thing about 15 years ago with an LS2 and a Syclone. Set records for fastest AWD 1/4 at the time.
Fastest AWD? That truck was goin high 10s in late 2008 iirc. Plenty other AWD stuff way faster at that point in time.

If I remember correctly the 4.3 has the same dimensions as the 5.7 but two of the cylinders were gone. I believe that opens up a whole bunch of performance parts you can use. It's been a long time, and I'm sure there's much more to it, but that's the basics as I remember them.
from what I remember the 4.3 at least the TBI pre Vortec was just a 350 small block according to summit when I was looking to swap out the thrashed motor in my 91' s10 blazer
it's just 3/4 of a 350.
the ford 6.8 v10 is just a 5.4 with an extra row of cylinders (different firing order crank though)
Pistons and bearings and lifters About it . Obviously Intake heads can headers won't work
Even the Vortec 4.3 is a 3/4 Vortec 350. I should know because I have a 2000 Blazer.
@@manworksgarage everything is the same you can cut out cylinders 5,6 on the v8 headers and intake to make it work on the v6, all other parts bolt on from the valve train to accessories bolted to the front when I built my TT 4.3 blazer a good 80% of the parts I got are supposed to go on the small block 350 but were cheaper then the 4.3 vortec sets. Chopped up some headers I had around, made an intake manifold, had tons of fun building it

I have an 89 luv/s10 long bed, rwd, 5 speed, 4banger diesel. Its all factory and haven't seen one like it. This would be the correct direction for a rebuild.

Back in the day they had a competition at the Gator Nationals where the dealer's got to race these against each other.And the winner got to race Don Prudhomme .If you won you got to keep the truck . The winner tree'd Don but Don came back and beat him at the end . They would go sideways off the line stock !

I have a 3.8L out of a 1987 Grand National... If I remember correctly, that's a stronger block than the 4.3L they were using. Parts are easier to find for it as well. Not sure if those guys would be interested in it though. If not, that's fine, I'll put it in something eventually just for kicks and giggles lol.
