What is a vacation scheme can you elaborate ?

Hey sure. A vacation scheme is basically an internship that you do at a law firm to better understand the law firm, what it’s like to work as a lawyer, and for the law firm to assess whether you would make a good lawyer at their firm.
Vacation schemes can be between 2 weeks and 6 weeks long usually.
