Dude, ive been shopping all over watching all sorts of videos but this is the only channel thay i, as a mechanical engineer, and all the knowledge i have about materials engineering, can get behind. I don't know where you source your stuff, but if its as diligent as the content you create... I'm happy taking that chance. Gonna place an order, look for Stefan 🤗
Thankfully DIY detailing products are now available in the UK. I thoroughly enjoyed using Gold standard polish with the finishing pad on my daughters 8 year old white clio, which by the end of the process looked like new. I also used an old orbital sander and I swear it made a real difference in terms of gloss. Like Detailers all over the world who just need to try the latest, coolest product, I can’t wait to use my existing rinseless wash so I can use DIY Detail rinseless wash. 😂
How much you have both done in so little time with the DIY Detail products and brand is incredible. I did paint correction on a Mercedes GL450 (finicky black paint) and the Gold standard was absolutely perfect. I used very little product and it worked flawlessly. I have spent years exclusively using 3D One and 3D Speed, I find myself going for the gold standard more now...awesome!
Love the video. Can you please show yhe process again on a different vehicle but get xlose up shots of the flashing. From this far angle yoi cant see the coating at all. Would love a lot closer look at all phases of work. Thank you fellas.
I can remember one top tip to make low tack masking tape even lower for any sensitive areas was to stick it on your T-Shirt or hoodie first and the fluff will stick to it making it even less tacky Also since we’ve only recently got your products in the Uk, used incredible suds and it’s very good in a foam cannon. But the stand out so far is the rinseless wash, noticed some streaking marks on the lower panels of a greasy nature using a competitor product, Rinseless wash must have had the power to cut through whatever it was and smells amazing too
I used this ceramic and honestly is impressive how much gloss comes from this coating. I am been doing detailing for 4 years and I think this is one of the best that I used. Question, almost half of the bottle left. Should I throw it away or can I keep it and for how long? Thank you
Nice job fellas. Love your work and your products. I’ve ordered an arsenal of your products the last few weeks. Thought I was done and then you dropped the holiday sale and I had to go back for another round lol. Couldn’t pass it up!
My go to coating has been Gyeon Mohs Evo. I love everything about it! But I will definitely need to try this DIY 5 years!! I LOVE the fact that you can drive in the rain after only 1 hour! (May not be ideal but doable) this is a game changer to me! My question is: with the use of your coating applicator, how much is needed to coat a normal size vehicle? Can you do 2 vehicles with 30ml?! Are the 3-5 and 8 the same when it comes to consumption? Is it in you plans to offer 50ml bottles? BIG THANKS!
Hey guys, forgot to mention the panel prep stage. Also, would be good to see gloss meter results before and after rotary and also after coating. Thx for the video
I’m about halfway through an interior detail right now, my first after getting the interior towel. You guys don’t talk about this thing enough, it’s amazing what it’s pulling off with rinseless
Great work as always guys! Do you prefer the milwaukee cordless rotary more than a corded one? Do you still prefer a 6" pad over a 5" pad on most occasions? Is it beneficial to use a higher nap/plush towel for the secondary wipe/ leveling of the coating vs a pearl weave for both? I've always used a pearl weave for the initial leveling but I can't tell much of a difference between the 2 for the second wipe. Just wondering if the plush towel is beneficial due to the extra thickness to reduce the chance of pressure points. Thanks.
Are you still going to get a glossier finish using the jewlling pad and a DA polisher versus using the yellow pad and a DA? I have a Porter Cable DA but no rotary. Is there another tool you can use as a rotary, similar to using a sander for a DA? Will a drill work, or is it too fast?
I'm wanting to prepare my 1998 Toyota Corolla properly for DIY Detail 5-Year ceramic coating. A professional will repaint my entire car and also polish it for an extra charge. (I'm 74 and live in Costa Rica and don't have a polisher or the experience.) Should I decontaminate the new paint on the car before having him polish it?
I finally just applied the 5 year coating! 🎉 But unfortunately I will need to use my car to take it on a short road trip (600 miles round trip) and I know I’m going to get bugs on the front for sure (after about 18 hours of curing) what should I do? I’m also a little worried about minor haziness on parts of the mirrors or glass!
@@diydetailofficial Awesome, I just didn’t want to compromise the coating, but should I use the full sponge method with the rinseless or what do you recommend for greatest “gentle” treatment of said coating? Although the Model Y is nothing fancy, it’s my commuter and want to keep her clean 😇 I can’t wait to do all my family’s cars!
You could pre spray on rinseless and then use the sponge from a bucket, or a soft damp rag. Probably best to mix up a bucket then put a sprayer in the bucket to fill up that way and pre treat ….and then use the sponge from the bucket 👍
Yvan, fair comparison is the Raptor R to the TRX. Both are supercharged V8. I’m a ford guy, but both are just beautiful. Especially after you and Nick work on them. 🏌️♂️
Yvan I know we wait a certain period of time before exposing a fresh Coating to different detergents & surfactants … But is the coating also more easily marred with the washing process or drying because it is still a little soft?
When wanting to be super meticulous and take the best care of your car you can, is it safer (less likely to induce micro marring) to dry a ceramic coated vehicle like this after diy rinseless wash with a quality microfiber towel or use a leaf blower to dry it? Touching the vehicle as little as possible seems the safest, but the leaf blower seems like it would blow dust and dirt at it.
Master blaster is nice too because it’s filtered air. Then you can mop up the drips after with some Rinseless Wash as a drying aid. Just use common sense, and yes as little touching of vehicle with a towel is best 👍
Avec un ppf partiel (xpel) est-ce faire que le red pad peux apporter plus de brillance comme le reste de la peinture ou vaut mieu ne pas toucher au ppf?
Great video! Just wondering if the jewling pad could be used on a 9mm DA like the Griots Garage G9 or am I better to stick with the yellow waffle pad for enhancing gloss since I don't have a rotary?
Yellow waffle pad will get you a little more cut and still finish great. So if you think you’re more likely to want some correction or cut (and finish, in 1 pad) you’re great with yellow. However, for that last boost of gloss… the jeweling pad works awesome on a DA as well
Great video, thanks again! One question, we have a few vehicles with decals and were hoping to ceramic coat them outside. Is this ok to do (coating outside) with your ceramic coatings after taking the steps referenced in the video? Other than direct sunlight anything else to watch out for?
as long as you keep in mind the avoidance of direct sunlight, and leveling the coating quickly on those areas, I think you should be totally fine! just use common sense always:)
Those polisher you guys are using is that something you guys are going to be selling? Also what the recommendations speed 1 rpm for the rotary when using the red pad.
We are testing out the teal polishers, it’s a brand called Car Shield and they’re not available in the U.S. When you finish with a rotary, do so on the lowest speed setting on the machine 😀

Then tried re polishing the fender but I was never able to get the polish out. Ended up replacing the panel for the customer. What did I do wrong with the polish to make it leave stains like most polishes do.
Hi this actually happened to me as well using the DIY gold standard polish and yellow foam pad. I tried DIY rinseless, DIY panel prep and all clean to get the staining out. Those items did not work, so I ended using Gtechniq C4 trim restore on the lower trim and rear bumper to restore the trim. C4 took care of the staining. I figured it was user error on my end. I used the GS Polish and yellow pad on the trim near my windows and it did not stain. The only difference is I waited to do the lowers and rear bumper at the very end, by then the pad had been dunked in rinseless and spun out many times, and even though the pad didn’t look super dirty, it may have absorbed too much polish, rinseless and some dirt. For my case, I think I should have completely changed pads.

Corded with a 6 inch pad is still preferable. The second towel can be whatever you want, it’s only for insurance.
The coating did not disappoint and the owner will declare it is to good to drive.

With our Gold Standard Polishing System it’s optional, but ideally yes.
Yvan I know we wait a certain period of time before exposing a fresh Coating to different detergents & surfactants … But is the coating also more easily marred with the washing process or drying because it is still a little soft?
Correct, the first 3-4 days it’s because of the surfactants. Day 4-7 it’s because of pressure used during washing car scar the coating.

Si02 is a small part of our coatings, they are much more complex than that. Our coatings are a combination of Polysilazane, SiN, SiC and Si02
