This is what I would have liked the Batman saga to be like in the 90s: 1. Batman 89s 2. Batman Returns 3. Batman Continues 4. Batman And Robin 5. Batman Triunphant
There was another script for Batman 5 called “Batman DarKnight” (yes that’s the actual title). Written by Lee Shapiro and Stephen Wise. It was heavily inspired by The Dark Knight Returns as it saw an older Batman who had retired and Dick Grayson now in college. The villains were Scarecrow and ManBat but I’m not too sure who was considered for the roles of the villains this time around.
Yes, I also heard about it, there the role of the Scarecrow was predicted for Jeff Goldblum, and Man-Beta is the actor who played Zod in the old Superman movies (rumors say so to an extreme extent). There was still a script in the Wachowski brothers' debut only Batman and Scarecrow, it can be found on the Internet.
People who only know Joel for Batman & Robin often dismiss his talent. I have a soft spot for his cheesy Batman movies, but the dude was genuinely a great director. The Lost Boys was a fantastic film and I feel like Batman Unchained could’ve been great.
I have my respects to Schumacher. At least, he knows how to handled Batman but got screwed by WB. Batman Unchained would have the potential to be a great movie but got done dirty by multiple things which caused it’s cancellation.
Still waiting for a Batman movie with Scarecrow as the main villain. He has so much potential and could lend for a very psychological story. I hope reeves uses him in his trilogy
i mean, didn't nolan already did that? He was working for Raas yes but he worked on his own MO, if Raas wasn't in the picture i don't think scarecrow's plan and actions would've changed much
@@Dom_510 yeah but not because of bad writting but because he was unfortunate to be in the origin film. What he had was good acting wise but for him to have more development all the story with the league of shadows needed to be cut to give him more screen time
@@ricardomiles2957 I didn’t mean to indicate I thought he was badly written, that’s not the case. My issue is that he’s really not more than a henchman in the movie and doesn’t have a lot of screen time. In my opinion scarecrow is one of Batman’s best villains who is worthy of being a main villain in a movie. The other thing I didn’t like was his character design, I get that Nolan was going for grounded realism but giving him his full scarecrow costume is not really unrealistic.
The unchained script I have says that Harley was not the daughter of the joker but a circus clown with Dick who was infatuated with the Joker from afar. An obsessive fan girl who could see no wrong in her idol’s actions and blamed Batman for murdering her beloved before they could meet. Dick had conflict with his childhood friend over her hatred of someone he sees as a hero triumphing over a murderer, meanwhile Batman felt immense guilt being seen as hero and confronted for murder he did commit
I can see a very loose, albeit unintentional, story arc for Batman across the four films. Batman 89 he doesn’t really kill until the end of the film. He’s found his parent’s killer, the man who directly traumatized him as a kid, the man who made him terrified, who destroyed this kid without a care in the world. Bruce has finally found him. He doesn’t care anymore. All he sees is his tormentor. So he kills him and his men who are just as devoid of humanity as him. He saved Gotham, but lost his soul. Batman Returns, he sees that killing stopped the Joker. So why not take out any other criminal that comes his way? How else are they going to stay down? Until he meets Catwoman. The two are the same, “split, right down the center”. She’s a mirror for Batman, a living embodiment of revenge and killing. She “dies” getting her revenge against Shreck , slapping Bruce’s offer of a normal life, where they can heal together. He swears off killing. This would be why Gotham is lighter and more neon color like. Batman has made Gotham slightly safer, so the citizens party. Batman and Robin Gotham has become a playground. So part 5 could have brought that hypothetical arc full circle
I think Joel absolutely got the worst treatment possible with Batman & Robin, he was very capable of some outstanding movies, but the suits basically ordered him to make a glorified toy ad.
Honestly, it wasn't even his fault. WB hired him to make a flashy campy batman movie that would sell toys and he did that. WB should be the ones apologizing
Wow! Courtney Love as Harley Quinn would have been phenomenal, I think she would’ve been the definitive groundbreaking roll for the character just as Michelle Pheiffer IS the Cat Woman!
When i was a kid, I remember reading a short article in the newspaper about the next Batman movie (Forever) having a lighter tone. Fast forward to the Etv premier of Batman Forever and what stuck out to me was every celebrity they interviewed like Dean Cain (Lois and Clark) saying it was " a great movie for the kids" or something like that. And I'm like, oh no.....oh no.... Luckily I enjoyed the movie. Then came Batman and Robin.
By the way, DC is going to release at the end of this month the comic "Batman 89: Echo" - a continuation of the previous comic-sequel of Batman Burton, which, judging by everything, will be based on Batman Unchained. The main villains there will be the Scarecrow and Harley Quinn.
@@WarpingFist I'm actually not the biggest fan of the Arkham Knight suit. A number of the design elements just don't add up to a cohesive design. I actually think the Arkham Origins suit is better if we simply must put Batman in armor.
Fun Fact: Bruce would have been wrecked by guilt for the death of Edward Nygma/The Riddler. It would have been revealed that as a result of the massive brainwave absorption because of Batman's batarang, Edward grew a massive tumor in his brain which lead to his death.
It pisses me off that folks complan that snyder's batman kills even though he's really inspired by frank miller's version yet batkeaton was kind of more phyopathic and strghts up kills joker compare to batfleck it's like if valture went to a DC universe and became anti-hero like the punisher

In general, WB is a pretty reactionary company. One thing goes wrong and they try to course correct. Every time they’ve done it its lead to worse and worse products so Im not sure why they keep doing it.
@@nalday2534no because dark scares kids and there parents get upset, that's the actual reason from tim buttons own mouth, they didn't like the disturbing and weird elements as it turned away kids, and then we eventually got a glorified toy commercial with Batman and Robin, Batman is best when he's dark in his solo stuff if u want a lighter tone team him up with other heroes like superman or the flash etc
