Good job with the strip down so far , the impact driver is a great wee tool .👍 pity about the new seal ! But as they say , every days a school day . Coming along nicely and great to watch as per usual .😁👍
Thanks Wattie! I always appreciate your feedback. That impact screw driver is a life saver on these old bikes with friggin screws holding the motor together!! Lol
Another great episode. I just bought my tickets for the dec 7 steelers patriots game at home in pit. Can’t wait to see my family and go to the game with them
Thank you! And a fellow “yinzer”! I’m pretty excited for the Penguins this season and the off season moves that were made. Our window for another cup is closing fast in the Crosby/Malkin era!
Great video. The tinny pinging sound is bearing chatter. I have a 74 DT250 with the same problem. Do the seals and bearings at the same time since you have to split the case anyway.
you should do a leak down test and see if it holds pressure also you can spray with soapy water see whats leaking. On a 75 rd 350 that i have had small leak on manifold had to tighten just a bit all good. As far as smoking goes It took me a couple miles down road before cleared out old oil in bottom of case good luck thanks for video
I’ve been thinking on getting a leak down test kit. Do you have any suggestions? That would save me a lot of time down the road I’m sure. Thank you for the input!
You know a great way to recognize crank seals is the smell. I’ve noticed in the past that there is a whole different smell. Obviously you’re going to notice lower oil level but for me it’s always the smell that gives it away.
You are right and I don’t think I mentioned it in the video but it smelt like 2 stroke exhaust but it might have been mixed in with motor oil. I have a suspicion I’m going to have to do the other one too. I don’t mind trying it though just to make sure. Makes for good video footage lol
Thats the exact Elsinore i had back in the day..great bike back then and mine smoked just as much when cold running brown coloured Castrol Super TT in the injection system..the smoke died right down to practically nothing after it warmed up BUT if it still smokes heaps when the engines warm...then you definitely have a problem.
Nice! Yeah, the smoke was bad and never went away…not only that but I found a surprise with the piston when I opened it up which will be in the next video….let’s just say things got real hot in there lol
Its not an 'odd ball one' many are like that, one must be mindful to look carefully and photograph at every stage, especially if not working with a good manual....
2 stroke blues. Your Honda will run great after yo go down your to do list. Gotta love old school elsinore cr's.🤠👌🏴
I sure hope so! This bike is really solid and I can tell the motor has low hrs on it. It will be nice when it’s done. 🙂
Gotta say man I enjoy the use of hockey sticks in your repairs haha
Lol thanks! useful lumber that I have a bunch of…there’s a reason why I hold onto my broken sticks! 😂

Trip back to the seventies. Love that smell had the Elsinore. That taillight great looking bikes🇭🇲
I always say these bikes are like time machines!

Good to know, thank you for sharing!

your good at getting the screws undone nice
Thanks! The impact screwdriver makes it easy.
Like the bike content and the Pittsburg memorabilia on the wall doesn't hurt since I'm originally from about 40 miles north of there.
Thank you! I’m a huge Penguins fan if you can’t tell lol. I live about 20 mins north of Pittsburgh myself.
Must be around Cranberry@@Garage2Trail
Just a bit south of cranberry…Ross Township/North Hills to be exact.

I like your content.
Thank you Jeff! Means a lot to get positive feedback on the videos. Let’s me know I’m on the right track!
OOF, watching this just reinforces my instinct to just take my motor to a pro, I can handle the rest.
It wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be. This was the first motor I ever split.
Diamond in the rough
Thanks! I can tell this engine has low hrs. Probably sat for a long time and dried up those crank seals.
@Garage2Trail yes. I agree time more likely took it tol . Doing fine job on videos. 👍 👍 👍
I appreciate the feedback! 👍 thank you again
Left side crank seal can cause that hanging too.
Im part way there at least! Lol

You are correct..I just haven’t done that many. I’ll use it as a learning experience I guess!
She’s definitely a smokey girl that’s for sure.
Good vid. Although I'd rather be watching Troll 2.
Thanks Frank…thinking of that Nilbog milk had me tightening my belt one notch to deal with the hunger pains.
