How I always pulled out the telehandler when it was buried to the axles in mud--- - You extend out the boom all the way, and tie your forks to an anchor/ tree/ truck, etc.. and then you just use your hydraulics to pull your boom back in, and that will pull you out of the hole with ease. Those hydraulics are crazy powerful.

You need to get Hillbilly out of the Telehandler!!! His driving is making your job 100 times harder then it needs to be. He needs to take it out of quadrasteer and only steer with the front tires. After that he will also need to keep the front tires as straight as possible. After years of working at the resorts, next time bring yourself a shop made sled, you can make it out of wood or steel. Something like that, you can do a 2-4 ft wide 12 ft(enough to fit both tires on) Lift 1 side and Place. Lift the other and place the second. Chain tires to the sled. Make sure you are roped off up hill in case it tries to get away. The softer the snow, the wider the sled. Sled can be out of 1 1/8 ply and some 4x6 or sheets of steel welded. We used a long tank once that was cut in half.

You guys are freaking awesome!!!!!! I did drop just a few tears of joy, ok a lot. I will support you more and more. At my job I work with a certain carpet cleaning company that actually deals with water restoration and mold remediation. I get rid of the bad stuff, so the property is dry or mold free to build better.
Amazing amount of persistence and creativity to get this job done. How the heck did you all stay warm during this recovery? My toes got frostbite watching this video!
Something I think would really help during snow recovery would be heavy duty sleds that can be strapped to the tired this way the vehicle is floating on top and much less resistance while maintaining more control, however steep downhills could present a problem with being able to slow down the load.
You’ve got the right idea but what you need is a boom pole. Probably 4 to 6 inch would be appropriate and proximately 20 foot long hatch through both vehicles in a way you go you’re not going there lose vehicles on the downward slope. Good luck kids.
Glad I scrolled down to read the comments, I was thinking along the same lines as you. what came to mind to me was bush pilots way up north using sled skis on the wheels to keep them from sinking in the snow.
@Todd Coon yes. One under each tire. But they need to be old hoods from back in the day when they used real iron. Not the new, wimpy aluminum foil crap.

The telehandler must have really been needed someplace else. It looked like all summer homes, so I would have said "wait a couple months and it will come out". Nope. Some of the recoveries of equipment stuck in the mud out in the old salt lake bed were much worse than this. I think the worst recovery was one where Dave got an excavator stuck out on the island he used to own and then kept getting another excavator stuck trying to get the first one out. It took a lot of work and man-hours on that one.
@@rainmetal Exactly. And as we know opinions are like ars holes, everybody has one. But opinions are not always the facts. The facts are, spending multiple days and A LOT of equipment and man hours means it was more difficult than a recovery that took half the time and 25% of the equipment and man hours. Not hating, just stating.

It's not cold in or while it's snowing when the wind comes up cover up or you become a popsicle.
Slowing down the load once things get going seems to be all of our problem 😂
Glad I scrolled down to read the comments, I was thinking along the same lines as you. what came to mind to me was bush pilots way up north using sled skis on the wheels to keep them from sinking in the snow.
How about plowing the road first. Then go back and retrieve the lift.
@Todd Coon yes. One under each tire. But they need to be old hoods from back in the day when they used real iron. Not the new, wimpy aluminum foil crap.
It seems like nature is no force to reckon with; The mountain and the amount of snow it's just amazing. Every possible obstacle the nature threw at you guys, around every turn, is just admirable. I like the "No quitting attitude from everyone. Allen seems to be a good asset on the team. Great work and content everyone.
Я изумлен их талантом делать все с большими трудностями, Задорнов был прав во многом!!!
Brother Dave You are such a Amazing MAN you are always there when people need help. It's just SAD that the world doesn't have more People like yourself in it. Thank You Dave for being such a Amazing Person GOD BLESS YOU and your FAMILY and all of your Employees and Friends. Awesome video as always Sure am going to miss Diesel Brother's on the Discovery Channel... wish it would keep going....
Basically all his vids are fake you sound dumb af
I think a LOT more people would do it if they had millions of dollars of equipment lol
@@IcanDriveIt damn straight
@@IcanDriveIt Doubt it.
This aint gonna be a free rescue. But i love dave and the team they are really good men.
How devastating is to see equipment failures, but this channel is just something else, thats why I subbed over a year ago and one fan of you guys from Estonia Amazing channel and the entire team! Beautiful people!
You know what I learnt from this video…….. if your phone says Robbie calling you let it ring. DON’T ANSWER 😂😂😂
The editing on this was immmmmmaculate! Super hilarious, Alan explaining the burnt wires and then Nates face "not knowing what year it is"😂💀. Cant wait for part 2! Valiant effort boys, that's for sure. Ya'll just need to sleep it off.
You guys will remember this "rescue" for a long, long time.
This is how memories are made. 110% effort by all involved.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I love Heavy D laughing after the Snow cat ran out of fuel 🤣🤣🤣🤣 you can literally see him losing it slowly 🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯
I hope you guys realize how much your content means to us recovery people.. theres nothing like it... and its not a bunch of stupid reality crap TV show... keep up the good work guys...
Not sure you'll see this comment but if you do!!! Keep it up...love it
Love that Alan is such a real world everyday good ole boy. The best kind in the world
Also like to say you guy's as a team! Are absolutely changing people's life's for the better. Good vibes only! All love no brakes
You can see the film/TH-cam crew gaining experience with every upload. Quality and editing just keep going up
Poor Whiskers, Thanks for being there for Robby and crew
That laugh when he jumps out of the snow cat after the main hydraulic line blew, I know it all too well. Haha
The telehandler must have really been needed someplace else. It looked like all summer homes, so I would have said "wait a couple months and it will come out". If anyone lived up there in the winter they were never leaving or the road would be plowed. Kudos on getting up there as it made an adventure.
I was wondering why it was left up there anyway 😂
I really admire the composure Dave always has when things go wrong! Like I would have lost my shit when the hydraulic line broke yet he was so calm!
I would have given up after I lost my shit
Dave ur calmness thru all this is outstanding. U r definitely one of the special blokes out there mate and ur a real trooper. Great effort so far with everything that’s happened and to get as far as all u guys have. I think Robby owes u a few drink after this one. Ur absolutely awesome mate 🤙😎🇦🇺
I think this is by far one of the most difficult recoveries Dave and crew has ever done.
@@calvinh.8882 That's called an opinion Calvin. Appreciate it though 🤣
Best video I’ve seen on TH-cam in months! We have all had those days. Delirious laughing at 5:30 in the morning says it all!
Dave you and the guys brought me back to years past where I've had to thread bolts in to stop pressure but you're really doing a hell of a job for the time up there and all of the problems.
Robbey did something like that before calling D because doing that for miles wasn't viable. But what if the boom is not pointing in a useful direction?
@@KimonFrousios right on. I figured they would do a lot better once they got unstuck. I didn't realize the entire road was going to get them stuck. lol
Over from Robbie’s channel… This is one of those “help a friend” that turns from a favor to full blown project 😂
You know it’s going to be a good video when they get stuck on the way to the recovery. It did not disappoint.
And the fact that they eventually got down to just Bud’s Ford Ranger fully functioning and mobile… priceless!
Heavy D is a never say never kind of guy! The world needs more men like him!!!
Without his money and heavy equipment, he'd be nothing. Let's be real....
@@dopeman420 Relax, man. lol
and women, i hate being excluded all the time, i'm a phD, i run my own thang, i never say never if a client needs help, i love collabs, women create all men you know, women built everything great we have today, you never hear about it cuz these rich oldboys wrote books full of drivel, which dehumanised half the population, the half risking it all to keep the species going, then they changed laws which removed our human rights, right to trade, to inherit, to education, to vote etc
[source: Engels]
What a nightmare!!! Could you imagine what would've happened if you guys DIDN'T know what y'all were doing?! Even with everything that happened, y'all made this shit look easy! And Brandon was there!!! I swear I'm his #1 fan! Lol This was incredible! Years of knowledge allll used in one single night! Y'all nailed it! Can't wait for Part 2! Y'all stay safe!
Awesome job Dave and as I said on Robbie's channel I think it's really great how you all work together and help each other out.
Great to see you helping Robbie out. He's a good guy. Sorry to see the day went south on everything.
Tools to separate & re-attach a track are a must in the tool box..
All these snow recoveries need strap on skis for whatever you’re pulling with your snowcats. Love all your videos!
those plywood sheets in the back of the ranger would of been helpful.
@@juztyn00 I think they would have broken immediately under the pressure of the handler's weight over soft snow.
Be kind to one another. Stay safe. Love to all
I have never laughed so hard 😂😆😂 Anyone that has worked on cars knows the 5am, parts broken everywhere, just trying to get by with the boys kinda mood.
Man this is turning out way better than the snowed in series, adversity and comradery are the ingredients for successful videos !!!
I haven't laughed so much in so long. It's a laugh of "oh man, I've been there, I don't see this getting much worse" and then BAM, it does..
Snow and lack of sleep can really push people to the edge. Poor Allen hanging outside the snow cat at 5am waiting for gas.
We need some more behind the scenes of Dave when things don't go as planned. Reminds me so much if my old boss just go go go until things break haha I love it. Don't really miss it but sometimes I do
Finally a job/ video that's not all butterflies and rainbows. It appeared real. No gimmicks. This is exactly what and how it would have went down whether there were cameras or not! Oh and Dave was visibly NOT having fun the first day lol
Might have been a good idea to plow the road on the way to the telehandler to make it easier to tow it back.
It is easy to forget to work smarter instead of harder, when you have muscle that makes hard work seem easy.
They did
@@ScootsMcPoot maybe you should watch the video again 😊.
Allan is the best thing on this show 😂
He's a fucking gem. I wish they'd do an interview of his life. That man has been through everything
Yup but everyone is nasty to him and just constantly giving him a hard time
@@masterbates7016 there "jelly" ( jealous )
@@masterbates7016 what
I hope you're following his channel. The Wizard from the Mountain Fortress is just awesome!
44:03 what a night! That startup sounded good on my truck stereo. Cool set of equipment and a great team you roll with.
The problem is that the front wheels pull it out of the ditch and the rear wheels pull it back in. You should change to crab walking (front and rear wheels turn in the same direction) if it has that option! What a crazy recovery!
YES YOUR A OPERATOR
Allen sitting on the back of the Snowcat right where that rope would pop back if it snapped...I was clinched up watching that lol. That could take his wizard head right off
Yankum rope breaks, it falls to ground.
@@ronaldfulton1175 so there's no way it won't fire back even with 1000's of pounds pulling on it? Not being sarcastic, don't know much about that type of rope
Talent recognizing talent! Pretty cool seeing a Sparks/Layton collaboration! Thanks for the entertainment, fellas!
I would suggest driving the wheels up on makeshift snow skids
Holy crap what a shitshow! : ) I think not enough people have been in situations like this to appreciate how absurdly funny it is... Play hard, work hard. Keep smiling HeavyD :)
Dave you have the patience of Jobe. Well done.
Oh man I might enjoy this video more than any other just because of the brute determination.... Can't wait to see the follow-up
I love how whatever they hook to the beast it just pulls around making badass noises and not realizing there’s something behind it
That was by far the absolute gnarliest extraction I have ever seen in my life! 😮Good job Dave!
HI Dave - Super cool to see you and your team helping out Robby, Matt & a whole slew of other TH-cam channel owners. Thanks for the great entertainment!
The editor needs a raise, amazing sound affects and cut scenes 😂
Kings of cool, Dave, Robbie Alan... the whole crew. You never gave up. Thanks for a great vid
