    • @briannoble8389

      Why not get replacement fenders and cut those up instead of the originals?

  • @joshuablackmon2044
    @joshuablackmon2044 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Probably a little late but could’ve bought some fenders off another truck from a salvage yard and put the fiberglass fenders on those and then if you ever want to go back to the original you would still have the hood condition ones that match.

    At around 2:55 of the video, my wife's cat jumped and bolted from the room. Totally made my day. I'm sorry your stress caused humor in my house 🤣.

    Be sure to cover your glass when using the cutoff wheel around it. The sparks will burn the glass. Ballsy move for sure, my hats off to you for even attempting this. I was a auto body tech for 15 years and I have done a good bit of custom stuff back in the day, this is challenging for a hobbiest in their garage for sure.

    Those fenders are going to make your Silverado absolutely sick looking. You have inspired me to do a lot of upgrades to my 08 Silverado. You need to put a Sport Bar on it as a final touch.

    You should have bought another set of original fenders to cut up and than put the blue ones in safe keeping

    I never quitted on my 08 silverado, I got a single cab first truck from the GM. After 12 years I decided to make into a mid travel truck, got some 2 inch fender flare fenders, 2.5 King shocks all around Dirt King control arms, cut the front bumper off for tire clearence, added some 2022 silverado lights from Vland and 35s toyos with method 17 inch wheels soon to add 37s on the 4.56 gears, it's an expensive thing but the looks are worth it.

    I don't know if you have noticed yet, but you will want to cut out those stock inner fenders. The up travel from the LT kit is significantly more vs the stock. When that tire tucks up into the fiberglass fenders it is going to slam right into the factory inner fender and blow it out. You'll also want to check the up travel for any possible trimming on the fiberglass. Take the shock out and Jack the tire all the way up and also turn it full lock both directions and trim accordingly.

    • @LonestarHawaiian
      @LonestarHawaiian  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking through that, appreciate the info! We’ll see how much trimming is going to be needed when I get the 37s on 🤙🏽🤙🏽

  • @nicholasmorrow2601
    @nicholasmorrow2601 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Right on man. Awesome to see someone with vertualy zero previous knowledge just jump in head first.
    Little tip, usually with a suspension kit like that you want to use a zero offset wheel.
    The manufacture of the kit should have given you some sort of info with that included.
    It should clear the fender without trimming as well
    Also a smaller wheel such as a 17
    And a tire with a larger side wall will ride and handle better off-road as well.

    Looking good. Once you address the gaps, I think it will be perfect. I’ve seen you work fiberglass before and you are very good. So. I have no doubt it will be right. By the way the Car Lock install on the ZL 1 is much better than the truck. In the truck it would take all of a milli second the pull that car lock out of the OBD port and toss it out the windows. In my opinion, total waste of money and zero peace of mind. Unfortunately, car are way to easy to steal with simple tech. Hope for the best and pay that car insurance.
