      If you own a cell device and live in the 21st century, what's in these new iPad tablets on wheels should be a no brainer. It's all gadgetry to make bad drivers even worse.

    Melissa, I join many others in saying how informative your tutorial is. I’m 72 years old, and traded my 20 year old Lexus ES (60,000 miles) for this 2023 ES. My dealership set up the Apple Play, and sent me on my way. The manual is overwhelming, but luckily I found you ! The least the dealership could have done was sent me the link to your tutorial. Needless to say, I am viewed it completely, and replayed multiple segments. So I went from an unhappy Lexus owner to a very satisfied customer. Corporate Lexus needs to make you more visible to all of us new owners. Thanks again for your clear explanations, lovely personality and voice.

    Very rare that I comment on TH-cam, but this tutorial is outstanding. My 2023 es300h has arrived in the UK, just waiting for a collection date. Some things wont be the same spec on a UK/euro car but your tutorial is still amazing

      Wow! Thanks so much, Jon! I appreciate your kind comments and support. Congratulations on your 2023 ESh! That will be wonderful to receive! I'm glad the tutorial can still be helpful for you. I know there are definitely differences in the builds from country to country, but hopefully enough of it will still apply to help. Thank you again for tuning in with me.

    OMG Melissa you took me from a very frustrated Lexus customer to an ecstatic one. I stopped reading the manuals after about 300 pages. It was awful! This is THE BEST TH-cam instruction I have EVERY watched! This should be required watching for every Lexus ES owner! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Melissa you are simply amazing. It’s almost unreal how good your videos are. I genuinely hope corporate is noticing your incredible hard work in elevating the brand itself and throws a lot of cash at you. Lol Because I would and also promote this channel. Sales can just recommend this video for new buyers and be done with it lol. Keep doing a great job and thank you for all the hard work.

      Thanks so much for your message. I'm very glad I was able to help. The HUD is a great feature when you have it set in a good position, just below your line of site. Also, make sure to resave your Driver Position Memory if you change the HUD position (or seat, steering wheel or side mirrors). I hope this helps! Thanks again for being here!

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Maurizio, Thank you so much for your comment and your patience while I researched this for you. I have looked at all view options for Favorites in the app and on the car and have even reached out to my Lexus contacts to make sure I wasn't missing something, and unfortunately, at the moment there is not a way to edit or add names for the Favorites in the Interface system. Needless to say, this has been reported to Lexus and requested for an update to the system. I don't have any information about their response, but I really hope they will get this added for everyone who uses the Drive Connect features. Thank you again for reaching out. If I hear about an update, I will definitely make a video tutorial for everyone!

    One minor grumble, why is the coin holder not illuminated, I suppose Lexus expects its customers to have a torch on standby,it has happened to me a few times when needing the correct change at night time :(

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Thanks for checking in. The Drive Connect trial on a new vehicle is for 3 years and then it would require a subscription through your Lexus app account. Is your subscription trial only showing 3 months? You also don’t have to subscribe to anything for navigation if you want to use one of the nav apps through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto depending on what kind of phone you have. So there are good options.

    • @ericmaginnis

      I actually meant 3 years. Sorry. The problem is, that by using Apple Car Play, you need data from your phone. I have that in Canada, but, as soon as I cross into the U.S. data from Bell costs $13/day (on top of cell phone plans). I know that it’s a Canadian problem, but it means that I would have no navigation outside of Canada. Even my 12 year old Accord has that.@@NorthsideLexus

Can I use my navigation without my phone being connected ? If so Is the navigation free without you phone being connected with android or Apple car play, or is there a free trial period on new purchase? If so how long is the trail period? I would like to be able to use it with or without my iPhone.

      Hi! I'm sorry you didn't get more of a tutorial when you picked up your new ES. The 2024 ES uses the new Lexus Interface system. I'm not sure what equipment your ES came with, but the 14" display includes a 3-year trial for Drive Connect Navigation from Lexus and the 9.8" screen is compatible for the subscription which is $15/month and is called "Go Anywhere." If you sign in to your Lexus app, you should see your car, click where it says "Info" below your car picture to see what connected services you have. There is not an additional charge for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, because those systems use your phone's data plan that you pay for through your cellular service provider. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in with me!

    Great video! Just purchased a 2023 RX 350 can't access the weather radar map or forecast. Was able to do this on the last 3 Lexus vehicles I've owned. Did they do away with this? Thanks!

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! The weather forecast is available on the new system through the Lexus assistant: "Hey Lexus, how's the weather." it does require a Drive Connect subscription so the system can access the cloud for data. The Radar map was part of the previous system and unfortunately it did not carry over to the new system. I hope that the phones will allow a radar map to mirror to the car screen, but at this point Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also only allowing the forecast. Thanks so much for checking in. Hi! Thanks for the great questions. Hopefully this will help: 1. The ES is not currently compatible with the Remote Climate feature that is in the app on some other Lexus models with a different electrical platform that can make those adjustments remotely. 2. The full hybrids and gas models must have the command performed through the app when you are ready to remote start the vehicle. Thanks again for being here. Hi, I questioned once about the navigation that for some reason Lexus removed the upcoming interstate exits and rest area listings. They haven't brought that back yet. Do you know of any outside company that can take the place of the Lexus navigation and provide that on the same screen, subscription or not, hard wired or not. Apple Play has Google maps and Apple maps but neither of them have the exist listings either. I really miss that function.

      Hi! Thanks for checking in. A long sustained beep when you try to lock the car means something is not right. Here are the most common issues: 1. Check to make sure you don’t have an additional key in the car (the wallet key left in the owner’s manual is the most common). 2, make sure the headlights are not left on. 3. Make sure the car was shifted all the way to Park and check that it is turned off. Some systems will not let you truly turn the car off when it didn’t get placed into Park first. I hope one of those will solve the mystery.

      If it is brand new, you should be receiving all those items from the dealership along with your purchase paper work. It should be in a really thick folder that has owner manual, maintenance guidance, technical guidance, car warranty, tire warranty, any brochure etc. If it is pre-owned/certified, then it might not be there. If you lease the vehicle for 24 - 48 months, it is better to have the physical copies so you will be better off when you return the vehicle to the dealership. For for Lexus ES, it is better off to do purchase and own it for at least 10-15 years or up to 150k miles before you consider replacing it.

      Hi! The DCM icon usually shows as blue when it is connected and working correctly. The map updates happen in the cloud twice per month and they happen automatically with no notification to the app or the vehicle. It is just a regular process for the new NAV data. If you have received a Master Data Consent Lexus app update, make sure you accept the update or the DCM will go to sleep and none of the connected services will be able to communicate with the vehicle. If that has happened, see if you can turn the permission back on the in the Security settings in your Lexus app, then give the car 5 two-minute drive cycles to activate the DCM. If that does not get it going for you, you will need to see your dealer so a Technician can troubleshoot the DCM connection. Thanks for checking in with me.

      Hi Franz. Some best practices to help your profile load correctly are:
      1. Make sure you have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on on your phone.
      2. Make sure your phone is linked to your profile in the car: Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Click on your phone & Manage Devices > make sure your phone is associate with your Driver Profile
      3. Link your key to the driver position memory buttons
      4. Keep in the habit of locking your ES, even if it is in the garage. When you unlock the system starts to recognize your linked key and the profile that is associated with it.

    Hi there, In a bit concerned about my CarPlay navigation. At 128:34, Your navigation said "getting navigation to...."and then proceeded to say where it was getting navigation to. When I ask for navigation to Starbucks or target, for example, it just says "getting navigation...." and then the voice abruptly cuts off. If I ask Siri for navigation to a destination and add "using Google maps", it will present the address as a selectable option on screen, but when I click it, nothing happens. Or, if it’s a specific point of interest with no alternatives, it won’t even do that. For example, if I was to ask Siri to navigate me to Golden Gate bridge, it will just say that it’s getting navigation to Golden Gate bridge, but won’t do anything. The Lexus app, on the other hand, provides no issues with navigation. I tried removing the driver profile and re-adding it a couple of times. I even tried unpairing and forgetting the Bluetooth device and then repairing it to the car. None of this seems to help and I'm hoping you can assist. Thank you in advance. 🙏

    Hi Melissa, 2023 Base ES350 owner here. Thank you for this tutorial. It is a goldmine! Could you please answer a question for me? With radar cruise control, at 1:09:05, you mention that after turning the car off, the next time you drive it, it will remember your last setting for following distance. I always set it to the closest distance, but every time I go for a new drive, it has defaulted to the longest distance. Not once has it remained at the closest distance. Am I missing something here? Is there an extra step I'm skipping that would keep it where I left it for the next trip? I couldn't find any mention of this in the radar cruise section of the owner's manual. Not a huge deal. I just have to press the button twice every time, but it would be nice if it stayed where I like it. Thank you.

So I just went out and drove another 2023 ES to triple check and this is what I experienced: Pressed the button to turn it on, got up to speed, pressed the button to set speed, adjusted down to level 2 for following distance. If I pressed the cancel button or applied the brake, the system would remember my selections if I used the Resume button to being cruise control again. I also turned the car off, unbuckled my seat belt and opened and closed the drivers door, then restarted the car and it actually remembered my selection. It is possible that at the lowest setting it is defaulting you back to a more conservative following distance. Would you be willing to try the 2nd level and see if you get the same results? @NorthsideLexus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thanks so much for your questions. Linking the key for the ES is to help with seat memory recall, especially if you are using more than one driver. There are a couple of things to consider for what you are experiencing: 1. It is possible that the seat memory will finish the adjustment when you start the car or put on your seatbelt. The position for entering and exiting leaves space for you to get in and out of the car. You can check that setting in Boarding & Exit to make changes. 2. If your seat is very far back or up very high, the seat adjustments may not be able to go any more without pressing the button. 3. The seats might need to be recalibrated and then resaved to the button. If none of that gets it working the way you like, I would have your Lexus service department check to see that it is working correctly for you. Thanks again for being here.

I would open the station you're listening to to full screen, that will give you a little more color and graphic and the Favorites list will be on the left. Hi, any idea what happens to my iPhone when I get into my car? I don't even have to put it on the charger. I just get into my car with my phone, and the volume on the phone automatically goes from all the way up to about 25% volume. Every time I get out of the car I have to remember to increase my volume on the phone to be where I want it to be.

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Keep in mind that all volume settings care independent of one another, so the volume for your phone when it is not connected for Apple CarPlay or a Bluetooth connection is totally different. When you get in the car, get what ever sound source you want, or if this is for phone calls make a phone call, then turn the phone volume all the way up on the side of your phone. Then you can also adjust the volume on the car for more control. If you have a music app, get something playing through the car, then adjust your volume on the side of the phone to the max, then adjust it on the car. If your Siri volume is low, get Siri talking, "Hey Siri, How's the weather?" Then adjust your phone volume on the side of your phone. There are some apps that have volume controls inside the settings for that particular app, so if you are still having trouble make sure to check the app settings for that app in your iPhone.
      One other tip: On the car in the Lexus System: Settings > Sound & Media > System Voice Volume > turn that up or down as needed.

      Hi Conrad, Playing music through a USB flash drive is still possible. When you plug in a compatible flash drive into the USB-A port the device name will be included in the Source menu on screen. Since there can be a lot of compatibility issues with different types of flash drives and file formats, I no longer teach how to listen to music from a flash drive. There are also a lot of formatting restrictions. Make sure to check the section in the Multimedia Owner's Manual to set things up correctly. The online version of the Multimedia Owner's Manual has it starting on page 130. Some general tips: - Make sure the flash drive is not a large drive (many of the new drives have a large storage capacity and the vehicle will try to load the data before the phone library and it can cause delays in voice command access for the phone or it can fail to load. - MP4 files are not compatible and must be saved in a compatible format. - Make sure the flash drive doesn't have any other content on it or the music file check may not be able to run and play through the music files. Sorry to be such a downer about this music saving format, but I want to make sure you have a good experience with it if you chose to play music through this type of device. Thanks very much for tuning in with me.

    I have the 2023 ES 300h Ultra Luxury, my fourth one. I'm not sure I like the new navigation system because of two items. I can't seem to keep the arrow North. It seems anytime you get into the car or change a screen, it defaults back to the screen following the direction of your car. The North arrow used to be able to click it once and it was always in that position unless you changed it at some point. There's no place to even tell you what direction you are going anymore. There's not even a compass in the rear-view mirror. The second problem item is the exits are gone. As you got onto a freeway, a little block would pop-up on the right-hand side of the screen and tell you about the next few exits with the number of the exit and the miles away from the next one. That seems to be gone and that is really important. Seems like a couple of items they didn't get the buyer's input.

      Hi! Since the cloud based NAV requires the subscription, you can start the paid version when the trial gets close to the expiration. It is all done through the app and the bundle is the US is $16/month at this time. If you don't want to subscribe, you can use the compatible navigation apps on your connected phone through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Thanks very much for checking in about it.

      @@NorthsideLexus Melissa, I was under the impression that if I didn't subscribe, the navigation system would lose all its learnings from the first 3 years and revert to the database originally built into the car, but it would still navigate. Am I incorrect? It sounds like you're saying that the built-in nav will brick out entirely. This is an unpleasant surprise to me.

      @@tonysterbenc Hi Tony, What you are describing is the previous Dynamic NAV system. It has cloud based overlays for three years and without an update reverts back to the original map data. Dynamic NAV maps are connected to a cloud source that is updated twice per year. The new Cloud based Drive Connect Navigation is using a system that updates twice per month, but it is completely cloud dependent and there will not be a map on the system without a subscription. What year is your ES?

      @@NorthsideLexus '22, so I think I'm in luck. I forgot that the '23 went to the whole new infotainment architecture. And, thanks for answering me personally. Like so many, I've gotten a lot of useful education from your videos!

      @@tonysterbenc Happy to help! You are in luck for sure. Your 2022 has the Dynamic NAV setup. You can continue Dynamic NAV as a subscription trough the Lexus app if you choose to. If not, the map will revert back to the original data that was present when the car was built. And you always have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto as well. Lots of possibilities. So glad you're enjoying my content☺

      Hi Michael, Thank very much. At the time of filming this video, the Lexus Dashcam information was not available. I hope to make a Tech Tip Tuesday video for us all about the new Lexus Dashcam when I have access to one. Thank for being here.

    I wish that the ES was designed as a RWD car, with an added AWD option. V6 FWD cars tend to suffer from torque steer and front wheel spin. The fact that the V6 runs on regular gas helps make up for the FWD downside.

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Bill. I think the ES as the FWD sedan and the GS and LS for the RWD offering it used to make more sense. But as the line has changed, it will be interesting to see what Lexus does. Especially with eAxels starting to be more prevalent on electrified vehicles. It will be fun to see what they come up with. Thanks for being here.

    I recently purchased the lexus ES350. The pin pad keeps coming up on my screen every five minutes. I have reset the numbers on my phone and on the screen in the car. PLEASE HELP

    • @NorthsideLexus
      @NorthsideLexus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! The PIN prompt is part of a new security check that happens sometimes. Just make sure you know your 6-digit PIN and enter it on to the screen. There is not an enter button. If you aren't sure of your PIN, it is managed in the Lexus app. Profile > Account > Security Settings > Set or Reset PIN. Then type the PIN in on the car screen when prompted. Thanks very much for checking in about it.

      @@purpleclaire101 hi. The Lexus app security settings PIN requires 6-digits. I would sign in to your Lexus app, go to the profile on the top right corner and click on the person icon, then click Account. Then click Security Settings and make a new 6-digit PIN. Then enter that 6-digit PIN into the car screen and you should be all set.

      It will be interesting to see if they do when the vehicle has a full redesign. Keep in mind the 2023 ES is just a refresh, not a redesign so more exciting things to come for it down the road. :) Thanks for tuning in with me!
